Sketchy Unity and Quiet Essence

Good morning y'all! This is a card using two sets of lovely Unity stamps. The first set is a gentle lovely one called 'Quiet Essence' and I've added the Itty Bitty set 'Tell Me More'.
The fab news is that they're both in stock and just pootle over to the store and get yours!

 Quiet Essence looks like this:

It's gorgeous isn't it. You can get it from the Unity section.

The Tell Me More stamp is one of the bargain priced Itty Bitty single stamps and looks like this
I've made this card in response to the Unity Challenge blog. It's a great idea to join in with these as they're great for kick starting those 'minus the mojo moments'. If you want to join in, you kinda need the stamps- but then, you knew that already!
Treat yourself to a set and join in- who knows- you might even win ;-)

See you soon,

Pencils on Kraft

Hello, it's Jo again but this time I thought I'd try something different from my usual and go for a Clean and Simple (CAS) card.

I stamped the flowers from Unity's Quiet Essence kit on to kraft cardstock using brown Memento ink and then coloured the image using Prismacolor pencils.

The sentiment from Unity's "A Mother's Love" kit was then stamped, again using the Memento ink.

Art journalling with Unity

Today I've been playing in a new journal using Unity stamps.

I made the background using Dylusions inks and then randomly stamped using Versamagic chalk inks and the grid stamp from Unity's "Moments in Bloom" store kit available in the shop here and the Unity/Christy Tomlinson stamp "tattered chicken wire" available in the shop here.

After leaving this to dry I then used a floral stamp from the Unity "Quiet Essence" store kit (again in the shop here) and stamped this around the edges using black Versafine ink before colouring in using Prismacolor pencils.

I stamped the sentiment from the Quote Bundle Pack again using Versafine ink and coloured the flowers using pencils again.

The art doll was a digital that I purchased from Etsy seller Sabrina.

Materials used:
Dylusions inks, Versamagic inks, Versafine ink
Unity stamps (as above)
Prismacolor pencils, white Signo pen
digital art doll (as above)

Quiet Essence tag

For a change today I've decided to make a tag using paper piecing. I stamped one of the flower stamps from the Unity "Quiet Essence" kit available in the shop here on to 3 pieces of patterned paper before cutting out the various elements and piecing them back together:

I made the tag and stamped a sentiment from the same kit straight on to the tag before adding the pieced flower and embellishments.

Materials used:
My Mind's Eye papers
Unity stamps (as above), black Archival ink
My Mind's Eye button
lace, organza ribbon

Before I go, just a quick announcement for those of you who aren't on the mailing list:

Emily's baby is due imminently so if you do order please be aware that your order may take slightly longer to arrive. I'm sure you'll join me in wishing Emily all the best!!

Thanks for visiting!

Happy Fall

I have a little autumnal card for you this evening - made with some of my favourite stamp sets from Unity and Lawn Fawn.

As the main focal, I've used a checkered frame stamp and sentiment from Unity's Harvest Of Memories. As an accent, I've stamped and coloured a pretty floral from Unity's Quiet Essence, removing the leaves from the stamp and adding a little leaf frond from Lawn Fawn's Blissful Botanicals instead. I've then added a hand-rolled paper rose, with a little pearl inside. Done!

3 simply adorable kids.... (& a reminder)

Today I have a layout to share with you using various Unity stamps. I used thick watercolour paper as a base and used Neocolor II watercolour crayons to create the coloured background.

I used a floral stamp from Unity's "Quiet Essence" set (here) to stamp on more watercolour paper and then used watercolour pencils to colour it before cutting it out and layering with foam pads.

The "it's all worth it" stamp is from the Unity set "One Precious Life" (here).

The fern stamp is from the Unity set "Moments in Bloom" (here).

The "blessings" stamp is from the Unity set "The Right Words" (here).

The faux stitching is from the Unity set "Key to Joy" (here)

The "simply adorable" and butterfly are from  old Unity sets.

Materials used:
watercolour paper, Caran D'Ache Neocolor II crayons and watercolour pencils, black fineliner
black Stazon ink, black Versafine ink, Unity stamps (as above)
American Crafts Thickers
DCWV rub-on.

Thanks for visiting!!

More Quiet Essence!

Good morning!
Today I have a couple of Tags to show you.....
I love playing with backgrounds and also trying to get as much 'mileage' as I can out of my stamps!

I have used one of my favourite Unity Store Kits 'Quiet Essence' available from the lovely Emily here

It's ages since I used my Brayer so I thought I'd have a little 'inky' play! Here is what I came up with.....

This the first one that I made! A little bit PINK, but also with some touches of my favourite Orange!

Ah, much more 'me' I think!
I used 'Big an' Juicy' pads for my brayering.....something else I have had for ages and not played very much with!!
I scrunched a piece of copy paper and then smoothed it out and ran the inky brayer across it, so that the the ink on the brayer took the crease of the paper onto the ink and then I rolled! I think it's more noticeable on the 2nd tag...
I used the little bacground stamp to add a bit more texture....using the same ink pad.
Isn't that sentiment fantastic? Stamped, clear embossed and highlighted with Glossy Accents. The Flower is coloured with ProMarkers and also Glossy Accented!
The little Bird is off the  'Life Becoming' kit also available here stamped onto shrink plastic...love him!
All that was left for me to do was a little doodling round the edge and add a little ribbon...
Thanks for looking, I hope you have a good Monday and I'll see you soon...

Oh and don't forget, our 'Get 'Em While You Can' Blog Hop is open until Saturday and me and my teamies have some great giveaways!

Mix & Match Your Stamp Sets

Today's offering uses one of the stamps from Blissful Botanicals - part of Lawn Fawn's 2011 Summer Release - as a background stamp. It adds a little bit of colour and interest! I've also added a beautiful floral element and quote from Unity's Quiet Essence.

Quiet Essence Quote

They look much better together than I originally thought they might. It's all to do with the colour combinations, I think. So, don't forget to mix and match your stamp sets for a slightly different look!

Quiet Essence!

Hi there from a very wet and chilly Stockport!! Can't believe we are in 'Summer'!!
I have a card to show you today, that I have made using the Unity Store kit 'Quiet Essence' available from the lovely Emily here
I love this set and I've used it quite a few times, but unusually not the Flower! It's lovely isn't it? So easy to cut out, even for a 'scissor challenged' person such as myself!! Before I covered the card blank...(it's 6"x6") with some pretty background paper, I stamped and embossed one of the sentiments, but felt the paper still needed something else...so I reached for my all time favourite stamp set...'The Artist In You' again available from Emily here  this set is so useful, I automatically reach for it now! I stamped and embossed the Flourish down the side.
I stamped and cut out the background stamp and then stamped and coloured my flower twice and cut out the centre of the flower and 3D it with some silicone glue. All that was needed to finish were some satin ribbon and gems...

Thanks for looking, I hope you have a good Monday and I'll catch up with you soon.

Using Unity Store Kits

I've been making cards again. You guessed that, right? All of a sudden I can't get enough of them. I'm so glad that I didn't give up on card making when it all seemed so hard!

Born To Fly

Stamps from Unity's Life Becoming

Hi There

Stamps from Unity's Quiet Essence and Lawn Fawn's Sophie's Sentiments

I think these dinky, little numbers are suitable for lots of occasions. Perfect for stashing away for unexpected moments of panic - I have lots of gift wrapping moments of panic!

The Last Of May's Flowers...

A couple of weeks ago I bought my first few sets of Promarkers and, luckily, the gorgeous blooms in the Quiet Essence set are perfect for a little bit of promarker practice - and, of course, for all of you promarker pros!

Quiet Essence 1

For this card, I stamped one of the images several times onto some smooth cardstock and then coloured using a variety of pinks, blushes and springy greens. To give the images dimension, I cut out elements from each of my stamped images and layered them using some small foam dots. I also added in just a couple of extra little leaves, which I curled with my finger nails to lift them a little.

Quiet Essence 2

Not bad for a practice piece, eh?

And, just while I'm here, any Lawn Fawn lovers might be interested to know that all of Lawn Fawn's Summer Releases are now available at Make The Day Special. Yeah Baby!

You're A Star!!!

It seems that I'm on a mission to make the smallest cards imaginable. This one is simply tiny, but it packs a bit of a punch.

Using the beautiful trellis type background stamp from Unity's Quiet Essence, I covered the bottom half of the card. I then added a little bit of ribbon in a light blue as a bit of an accent. Above the ribbon I partially used one of the sentiments from the Say Cheese Too set from Lawn Fawn - it actually says 'You're A Star' but since my card is teeny, I masked it off a little.

Then I stamped the star from Unity's Learning {Year By Year} onto some light blue cardstock, cut it out and adhered to the card with a little pop dot for dimension. Don't you just love the numbers and text on the star? Gorgeous!

To finish off the card, I popped on some sparkles....we all need a little bit of sparkle every now and then!

Hope you're all having a fabulous weekend x

I stamped the bird from "Life Becoming" on to shrink plastic using Stazon ink and then added them to the tag. Lace, ribbons and some roses cut from patterned paper were then added as final embellishments.

Materials used:
cardstock, Crate Paper Portrait papers
Unity stamps (as above), Versafine ink, Stazon ink, shrink plastic
lace, ribbon

Stay Cool

I've made a layout for a change this week using a couple of the Unity store kits available here.

I started by cutting a piece of watercolour paper to 8.5" x 11" and then stamped the background stamp from "Quiet Essence" a few times down the side using Marvy pens. I then lightly misted with water to give the watery effect
.
I used the "enjoy this day" stamp from "Life Becoming" which I stamped on to the photo using black Stazon ink and then used the "Be Unique" stamp from "Naturally You" up in the top right corner and also stamped with Stazon.

Finally I used the corner flourish stamp from "Naturally You" on the top corner of the title.

Materials used:
watercolour paper, DCWV paper
Unity stamps (as above), Marvy pens, black Stazon, black Versafine ink
Scrapworks Hugz, white Signo pen.

Purple and silver

For today's card I decided to go with a purple and silver theme and try to keep it clean and simple.

I stamped the flower from Unity's June store kit - Quiet Essence using the Essential Glue Pad and then used silver foil flakes over this. I then added rub-on letters for the sentiment before adding the embellishments.

Materials used:
American Crafts cardstock, Unity stamp, silver foil, Basic Grey rub-on alphabet, Prima rhinestones.

Enjoy this day

Today I have a quick 8" x 8" scrapbook layout to show you using stamps from the June Unity store kit.

I used a base of October Afternoon grid paper and stamped the floral stamp straight on to it using Memento ink before colouring it with Promarkers. The frame stamp was also stamped directly on the paper with Memento ink and then I journalled inside it. The "enjoy this day" stamp was then stamped down alongside the photo.

Materials used: October Afternoon papers (Fly a Kite collection), Unity June store kit, Memento ink, Promarkers, Joy Crafts butterfly die, black gel pen.

June store kit

I received the new June store kit a few days ago and eventually decided to ink up one of the floral designs from the Quiet Essence part first....it did take me a while though LOL!

I used brown Memento ink to stamp the image before using my Promarkers to colour it in and then I cut it out. The sentiment stamp is actually an {ippity} one from the Delightful Little Things set available over at {ippity} inspiration.

Materials used: DCWV cardstock, October Afternoon Thrift Shop papers, Unity stamp from June store kit, Memento ink, Promarkers, {ippity} sentiment stamp, satin ribbon, vintage lace and button.
