Fold-over Flowers

Hi There :)

I've tried something a little different for today's card.... a bit of cut and folding to add some extra dimension and I've used Altenew's Doodle Blooms stamps and dies with some simple Promarker colouring too....

The card base started out as a regular side fold A6 card which has been cut down the spine and the front panel folded over to add an extra layer on the front.... here's some photos to show you what I mean.

I started by making a prototype with paper so I could work out dimensions then I took my card base and drew a faint pencil line on the inside of the front of the card.

I then stamped flowers and leaves partially across the line so I could trim and fold the front panel.
The next three photos show the finished coloured card laying out in its unfolded state before fixing the front panel down with foam tape...

I attached the folded panel with foam tape to give a layered effect but I thought the inside of the card was too plain so I used textured paste through the MFT English Wall Stencil for a subtle background. The sentiment is from another Altenew set which is heat embossed in white on black card for some impact :)

Next came a bit of a 'boo-boo' when I accidentally made an inky mark on one of the flowers so I quickly stamped three extra and used the die to cut them out before popping them up on the stamping.... lucky I was able to save it, you'd never know that wasn't my original plan if I hadn't told you ;)

I hope the photographs helped .... it's definitely better than me trying to explain how I did it!! :)

The Tool Shed

Good Bank Holiday morning to you :)

I couldn't resist the new Garden Grow set from Altenew, having a large garden and allotment, this set was definitely coming to live with me :) There are so many images for scene building so I decided to use the elements you'd find in a gardeners shed..... not that gardening is exclusively a guy thing but this set is great for masculine cards....

Having looked at the bench stamp I decided to mask off the legs on the stamp with washi tape and use the top as a shelf instead for my tool shed.
This is a one layer card which needed quite a bit of masking so I started by stamping out the hanging tools first and then went onto the shelf. I find it much easier to stamp out the whole design first on an A6 piece of rough paper to use as my spacing guide. I needed to make masks for all the items on the shelf which is really easy to do with Post It notes (you can but the 'all over sticky' kind in stationary shops here in the UK now).

I've water-coloured with distress inks although, because it isn't watercolour card I had to be quite sparing with the water!! The sentiment is from another Altenew set called Birthday Greetings, I thought the scripty font suited the sketchy style of the images :)

Not sure if much gardening is going to be taking place here today....... that depends on the Great British Bank Holiday weather as usual!! Hope you enjoy your day whatever you're doing :)
