Create Baby Themed Cards with Unusual Stamps

Hello fellow crafters! I'm popping in this morning to share with you some baby themed cards and gift tags. But the fun part is: I created them by using a stamp set that doesn't even have baby related stamps. I just wanted to challenge myself to look at my stash in a completely different way and this is what happened :)

I first used a Hero Arts stencil to create the background for both of the cards (did you know the store now carries many different stencils? They are amazing!). Distress Inks work best here, but of course you can also grab your regular dye inks and see if you can get them to blend. Not sure how well you can make this out, but I tried to have a darker "halo" around the center pieces, so I used two pinks and two blues on the background.

The center pieces were cut with Lawn Fawn's Stitched Borders (girl version) and another die for the  boy version (you could use Lawn Fawn's new stitched rectangle cuts, sorry OOS right now). I stamped the boots from the Paper Smooches Buckaroo stamp set on Lawn Fawn patterned paper and fuzzy cut them, then added some shadows with grey Copic Markers. The hat was stamped on Neenah Solar White paper and colored with brown Copic Markers. The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn's Plus One set and I thought it would be funny to use some brown/natural twine as a sort of "lasso" to add some dimension to the cards.

And because I can't very well stop when I need to, I cut two tags with the Mama Elephant Basic Set creative cuts, stamped the boots on there (with a bit of masking to hide one behind the other) and then colored them with my Copics. On the girl version, I used a silver gel pen (no name brand) to add some silver sparkles and to color the soles. On the boy version, I used a bronze gel pen for the soles and a gold gel pen to add some accents.

That's it from me for today. I hope you enjoyed this little project and I hope you'll check out the Buckaroo stamp set. It's so incredibly versatile. I'm already planning some elegant cards using the little floral accents that come with the set.

Le Tour De Yorkshire!

There was only thing I could use as inspiration for today's card - Le Tour De France - as this year it starts in Yorkshire and there is a marker to say "15km to the end" about 50m from MtDS HQ today!  So we went all out bikes and yellow.....

I'm not so sure the competitors will be finding much joy in the journey when they reach Jenkin Road - it's a very steep hill and it's a bit evil to put it so near the finish line!!!     It's a simple card, a bike, a hill and some banners - but I did use a few different sets:

Mama Elephant's Sightseeing for the sentiment and their Landscape Trio Die for the hill.
Avery Elle's Roll with it for the bike
Wplus9's Banner Love for the yellow bunting which is all over Yorkshire this weekend!

I'm blogging late as I thought I'd share some photos of the pelaton as they passed us.  Quite hard to get past the crowds that have been gathering since 10am this morning but here's what we managed to get of the main pack passing us.

New goodies and restocks from Paper Smooches will be in stock this week and Lawn Fawn restocks aren't far behind them.    We have orders pending with Lil Inker's, Mama Elephant and Newtons' Nook too so more newness, as always, will be here soon.

Now it's time for a little tennis.......

See you next week.

Get Well Soon

Hi there and happy Thursday! Hope you are having a great week :) It's Lydia with you today....and again tomorrow ;).

Today I'm sharing with you a super cute and easy card using some of the new release from Lawn Fawn.

* I stamped the cute little plaster and sentiment from 'Get Well Soon' on to the stitched circle from 'Stitched Party Banners' and coloured using Copics.
* I then cut the smaller of the banners from 'Stitched Party Banners' out of 'Let's Polka Papers' .
* To create the card I cut two pieces of card using the same small banner, I stuck the piece of polka dot paper on the one that would be the front of my card. On the one for the back of my card, I scored a line across the card about an inch from the top then glued this flap and stuck to behind the front of my card.
* Add string to the pre-cut holes and tie in a bow.

I really love how cute this is! I really think it would make someone smile to receive this :)

Thanks for popping by!

Arigato

Happy Friday everyone. i don't know if it's just me but this week has seemed to glide by at a snails pace.... I actually thought it was Friday yesterday ?!?! As they say nothing ruins your Friday like realising its Thursday.... well that's how I felt yesterday... oh well it's Friday now :-D !

So today I'm sharing with you a freshly inked set... Lawn Fawns 'Let's Roll'....

*Firstly I cut the small banner from Lawn Fawns 'Stitched Party Banners' out of stamping card.
* To create the little scene I firstly stamped the green sauce and masked it, then stamped the sushi rolls and masked them, then stamped the soy bottle and masked that and then stamped the wooden dish.
* While all the masks were still on I stamped the flowers from the set in a light grey so they would look like they were behind the food.
* Using Copics I then coloured in the scene.
* Add some twine bows to the banners holes.
* Cover the card with a piece of stripy paper from Lawn Fawn 'Let's Polka' 6x6 pad.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you have a great weekend!
