Joyful Woods

020

Hallo! And happy Friday ! Well it seems that Winter has taken hold in North Wales - cold, windy and wet... ugh! But at least the weekend is upon us and if I have my way a pj day is on the cards tomorrow with hot chocolate and Disney movies.... I'd like to say Christmas movies but we have a rule in this house that no Christmas tree, Christmas movie or Christmas book is to be seen until December 1st which is quite easy to do as all these things are in the loft until November 30 ;) , as well as Elfie McJingles our mischievous Elf On The Shelf.

Talking of Christmas I have a card to share with you today....

I have used lots of elements from the Lawn Fawn 'Joy To The Woods' set in this winter scene card. For the snow bank I have used embossing paste, after I added the paste I heated it with a heat gun so it would puff up I think this gives a great texture and looks so much like natural snow.

Joy To The Woods!

Hey! How are you?
Needs must and all that..I HAD to ink up this brand spanking new set from Lawn Fawn
Forgive me that we're heading into Christmas cards- but I've designed it so you could minus the baubles and have it as a wintry scene (obviously minus the joyful wishes too!)
I've made the background with distress inks & misty splodges (my spray gun is ahem..a little temperamental!) and the 'snow fall' is using some vellum. I've heat embossed with brown ink & clear powder (there's more shine IRL) and added some watercolouring to mimic gorgeous beech trees.

This set is in stock (quick..fingers at the ready).. but knowing you guys, it won't be there for long!
If you want some more inspiration with this set.. Tara did a gorgeous winter scene here.

Well.. am off to finish uploading my card for the Monthly challenge.. it'll be up on the blog later.. do check out the sketch, it's a nice easy one with tons of scope for adding your creativity to it.

See you next week!

Feeling foxy?

I was having a little browse around blogland for inspiration for a card to make today and I found this challenge over at Moxie Fab world that gave me a chance to ink up one of the gorgeous new Lawn Fawn stamps http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2014/08/foxes-challenge-foxy-foxes-challenge.html

I used the adorable Joy to the Woods set and stamped and fussy cut the tree and fox which were watercoloured with distress markers.  For the background I used a sheet of paper from Snow Days and created a range of snowy hills using the hillside border die which is going to be a die I turn to so often as it's very useful!  The finishing touch is the little footprints coming over the hill so you can see where the fox has been.

See you tomorrow with something totally different!
