Count Your Rainbows!

Hey! Hope you're all ok.

Today I've used some Reverse Confetti products to create this rainbow styled card.

The sentiment is all about counting rainbows and my first temptation was to go the obvious route of a literal rainbow. Then I looked at my Reverse Confetti dies and thought they'd make a fun accent to the sentiment stamp.

I did actually have the image of Iron Man's arc reactor in my head when I was creating this- so you can probably see where the design of the centrepiece came from!

I used these dies

I simply cut the large circle and then cut the smaller circle centrally out of the large coloured shapes. Simply cut out small pieces and add onto a white shape.

I stamped the 'count' onto the white ring through to the base cardstock. I wasn't sure it would stamp completely but it did!

By adding it to two layers, you can then raise the outer ring to give dimension 

Add a little white gel pen stitching and you're done. Simple CAS but with a rainbow vibe!

Let's get Punny!!

Yep.... you probably guessed that I had to have Lawn Fawns stamp set in their latest release called Best Pun Ever.... not only are the images adorable but you have a great mix of words that are all indivudual stamps so you are able to make up your own punny sentiments :)

I've used only the stamps in this set for my CAS cards today because the puns and images need little else but I can already spot ways these images can be mixed with other sets which is something I love about Lawn Fawn stamps :)

I love how you can add faces to the images if you want to... I couldn't resist putting the moustache on the ice lolly and then giving them a good coating of glossy accents for a shiny finish :) To add some interest to the grater I pricked through the holes from the back of the panel to give a rough texture on the front...

These next two are paper pieced, the images are fairly easy to trim out ...

The trophy is great for sporting achievements cards and you can always decorate the cup in team colours for a more personal touch and we've just had Crufts at the NEC and I couldn't help thinking how you could use the trophy with one of the dogs from Critters in the Dog Park too for a 'Top Dog' card :)
The tea pot and cup look great paper pieced and will mix nicely with the Love you a Latte set too.

I've saved the best til last because as soon as I saw this fan 

I knew I wanted to make the blades able to turn....

To make this card I first stamped and coloured the image on my panel then stamped, coloured and trimmed a second set of blades. Cut a small round of fun foam that will sit nicely between the central circular hubs of the blades. Adhere the foam to the card base only and then using a pokey tool or pieceing tool make a hole through the centre of the hubs and foam so you can attach the top blades with a brad. The blades should turn albeit manually with no pull tabs or mechanics :)

The Easter Bunny Came Early

I've been having lots of fun this week Avery Elle's Easter Blessings stamp set.  It is such fun to colour and much more versatile than you might first think!  Here's a little collection of what I've made with it ready for Easter.

First of all I made Easter decorations using some papier-mâché products I found on Amazon - an egg and a little egg shaped bud vase.   To stamp onto a curved object can be a bit tricky so I got around it by stamping on white tissue instead.  I simply gave the papier-mâché products a couple of coats of white acrylic paint and then applied my images onto them when dry.   The images were stamped and embossed in gold powder and coloured with pencils (make sure you give the tissue a good coat with a dust buddy first and stamp onto the non-shiny side of the tissue as that way the pencil blends better)  Once coloured trim around the image leaving just a thin margin and carefully apply a thin layer of pva type glue and stick the centre of the image down first and work out the edges taking care not to tear the tissue as you go.   The bud vase is flat but I used the same process for ease of colouring.  You can find eggs which split and can therefore be filled with chocolate or you could make lots of eggs and hang from a branch - you could even just select individual flowers or the bunnies to add to smaller eggs ;-)

In fact selecting the bunnies was just what I did to decorate the little basket full of eggs which was inspired by the video Lawn Fawn shared on their blog a few days ago, but I wanted to do a version too in case you'd missed it as its such a cute idea for Easter.

The major difference I made to the one they made is that I wanted mine to be stronger as my little eggs were too heavy for a paper version with very little glue holding it together so here is what I did differently....

Once I'd die cut my cupcake using the grassy cupcake die from green cardstock, I placed the die on top of the card and moved it up a couple of mm to get a curved line following the bottom of the shape and ran around the bottom of the die with an embossing tool to give me a fold line.  I then used sharp pointed scissors to trim up to the line every few mm to cut little tabs all the way along.  Once folded these give you much more surface to adhere your base to giving strength to the basket.

For a clean finish and also to add more strength I added a circle inside as well as outside - the stitched circle dies fit perfectly!

Add some fussy cut bunnies (or whatever takes your fancy - flowers for Mother's Day?) around the outside to decorate and a strip of card for a handle and you've got a pretty nifty little basket.

NEWS FROM THE STORE

• Lawn Fawn restocks have finally shipped - they will be in store by Tuesday afternoon.
• Mama Elephant's latest release has been delayed - I hope it will ship on the 20th if they get the stock they are hoping for by then (I got my order in on the 1st March but they are now very slow at turning orders around)
• I am hopeful that Altenew will finally ship the order I've been waiting for almost 2 months for this week too.
• Lil' Inker Designs will ship on Monday so should be in store by the end of the week.
• We have a tiny amount of Hero Arts restocks coming this week - we managed to get another 3 of each of the ombre ink pads - I tried to order MANY more but Hero Arts didn't produce enough - they are expecting more stock at the end of March so I will get them back again in bigger quantities in April.  Sorry but that's the best I can do!
• Neat and Tangled is en route.
• Sugar Pea Designs, Waffle Flower Designs and Reverse Confetti will ship soon with new releases and restocks.

Create Shapes through Tiny Stamps: Easter Card with Wplus9 Very Vintage Florals

Today I want to focus on what you can do with all those tiny stamps that are strewn across your stamp sets. I'm using a stunning stamp set by Wplus9 – it's one of the older ones, but I absolutely love the detail of the flowers. I'm also using three shades of purple to create an ombre effect that will leave your card's recipient wondering: how on earth did she do that?

I used the tiny flower to create an egg shape on my card, since the card is meant for Easter. To create the ombre effect, I rolled the stamps in two ink colors at the same time (for a how-to video, check out my blog – you can find the link in the sidebar).

I decided to mount the stamped panel on a colored card base to keep the soft floral colors in tune, but I could't resist adding a few sequins and the ribbon for a finishing touch. If you don't have ribbon, check out the twine that is available in the store … there are a few great selections there.

I hope this gives you some ideas for your own Easter themed cards. As always, I'm listing a few more products below than I actually used. Sometimes, products go out of stock quickly and I want you to know about alternatives that you can use if you want to try this yourself.

Spring Floral Border

Hello. Happy Friday … can you believe that another week has whizzed by?

Today I’m sharing with you another card that was accepted into Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking but sadly won’t be published. This was using their sketch … I don’t know if you remember the one with the little squares all the way around the card. When I first saw the sketch I really didn’t think I could get it to work for me … but I did



To create this I stamped it as one whole piece. Stamping the sentiment from Wplus9 ‘Hand Lettered Hello’ in the centre first and then stamping the floral border around the outside. The stamps I used around the outside edge are from Wplus9 ‘Pretty Little Peonies’.

Once I had done all the stamping I then cut an inch off each side and trimmed these strips into 1 x 1" squares before adding them to my card layer with foam adhesive.

Funny Bunny

Hello, Sarah here again with a card that I have made featuring one of the colour combos from our fab March Challenge and the sweet Honey Bunny set from Mama Elephant.

I just love how startled this bunny looks :)  I have coloured with Spectrum Noir pencils and put him in a Lawn Fawn polaroid frame with a Mama Elephant landscape die for the ground.  A bit of purple inking around the frame, in the sky and on the washi tape stamps ties it together.

Here are the colour combos which you can use to make a card/project for our challenge which ends on 22 March.  They are perfect for spring crafting so I hope you get the chance to play along.
