Shabby Chic Unity Flowers

I was asked to make a card by a Friend for their Auntie and who loves flowers and the lovely Flower stamp from the Adventures in Happiness kit which is available from Make the Day Special immediately sprang to my mind. I love the simplicity of the design of these flowers and the fact they can be embellished with buttons and gems to make them look different every time.

To make the card, I used a square card blank and cut a section from the front at an angle. I covered the card with the Papermania Rose Garden papers and added a strip of ribbon down the cut edge of the front of the card.
I stamped and coloured my flowers and cut them out with a Nesties shape which I matted on to a scalloped circle cut from pink card. This was then mounted to the card front with foam pads making sure I only stuck them where they would not show!
I embellished my flowers with a button and gems, added a bow and a sentiment from the paper pack and some letters to spell out Auntie which are also in the pack and a couple of punched butterflies.
Have a lovely Friday!

A Happy Life heart hanger

I received a wooden heart blank as an RAK recently and have been wanting to alter it and make it into a hanger for a while. I decided the Happy Life sentiment from the Adventures in Happiness kit available from Make the Day special would be perfect to embellish the heart.

I first cut strips of tulle which I sewed a running stitch through to created a ruched frill which I stuck to the heart with my glue gun. I drew around the heart on to ledger paper to make a shape to cover the front and back of the heart and distressed the edges with inks. I then stamped my sentiment before sticking the heart shape to the heart blank. I added a string hanger and embellished with flowers, ribbon, buttons and pearls.
Make sure you check out all the new stamps at Make the Day Special. Unity are now making Cosmo Cricket stamps and Emily has 3 new adorable sets available!
Have a great Friday.

Life's Adventures...

I have a card to share with you today made using a stamp from the Adventures in Happiness stamp available from Make the Day special. I love the sentiments in this set and a lot of them are great for Men's cards

To make this card, I cut some gridded paper to the size of my card base, I stamped the sentiment in the bottom corner and then sewed around the edges. I then fixed it to the card base. I cut a square of black card and added a square cut from an old map over the top at an angle. To finish, I added 2 American crafts chipboard shapes, a Doodlebug embellishment and a couple of gems.

Love lights the way

I have a mini card to share with you today made with stamps from the Adventures in Happiness kit available from 'Make the day Special'. There are so many sentiments in this set and images of all different sizes, it is the ideal set for putting together quick simple and stylish cards.

To make the card, I cut a blank using my heart shaped Nestabilities and covered the front with red card. I cut a smaller heart from lined paper and stamped the images with brown Memento ink. I added gems, coloured the heart with Sakura pen and glossy accents. As a finishing touch, I added a bow topped with a tiny red heart button.
Have a lovely Friday!

A Happy Life!

I have a card to share with you today made with a stamp from the Adventures in Happiness kit available from 'Make the day Special'. I love all the sentiments in this set and they are perfect for putting together quick simple and stylish cards.

To make this card, I stamped the sentiment on some Bobunny paper, coloured it with Promarkers and cut it out with my Nestabilities. I added gems and some glossy accents to give the hearts some dimension. I layered the sentiment on to a scalloped circle cut from the reverse of the Bobunny. I covered the card base with some more coordinating BoBunny paper and inked the edges. To create the button border, I threaded Elzybells buttons on to paper string by East of India and stuck them down with my glue gun. I stuck my topper above the buttons with foam pads
As a finishing touch, I added a Butterfly with string antennaes, topped with a button.
I hope you have a lovely Friday.

Lights the way.... (FWF - Blog hop)

I have another card to share with you today made using stamps from the Adventures in Happiness Unity Stamp set available from Make the day special. I have made 3 different cards now using a selection of stamps from this set and each one is so different. Is is lovely to have so much versatility in one set of stamps.

To make the card, I cut some stripey paper to fit my base card, stamped my sentiment then sewed around the edge of the paper before wrapping it with string and sticking it to my base card.
I cut a rectangle of textured blue card, matted it on to green spotty card and added a strip of patterned pale blue card which I had cut with edging scissors. I sewed along the edge with my machine and then added a piece of green card on the top also cut and sewn. I stamped the lighthouse in place on the image panel and then once more on to cream card. I sewed around the edge of the image panel with a zig-zag stitch then coloured my image and inked with distress inks before cutting out and adding to the scene with foams pads.
I added a button to the right of the image, set an eyelet and then finished off with a couple of gems.
All papers except the textured card are from DCWV.
I really enjoyed making this card and building the little seaside scene, I really want to go for a walk by the sea now!
I hope you have a lovely Friday and a wonderful weekend.

More Adventures in Happiness

The sentiment is also from the kit.

Love and Laughter

I have a mini card to share with you today made using stamps from the Adventures in Happiness Unity Stamp set available from Make the day special. The set is very versatile and includes so many lovely stamps. I particularly love these little flowers. They are so simple but can be embellished in so many different ways.

For my card, I used some spotty backing paper from American crafts. I stamped using Stampin Up inks and coloured the image with Promarkers. I then cut the image out with a labels nestabilities shape. I measured where my ribbon would go and then stamped the sentiment with green ink.
I wrapped some ribbon around the card and added a bow topped with a heart button, I then added buttons to the centre of the flowers. I stuck this panel on to my card base, I then finished the card with a couple of Prima flowers with a button centre.
I hope you have a lovely Friday and a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend.

Adventures in Happiness...

I had a play last weekend with my stamps from the Adventures in Happiness Unity set available from Make the day special.
The sentiment stamps that are part of the set are so lovely and make a great card on their own without the need to combine them with an image.

I love this sentiment and it's serene theme reminded me of these papers from Cosmo Cricket. I love papers with Clouds and these are no exception, I love the vintagey aged feel to them. I stamped the sentiment straight on to the backing paper and cut it out with my Nestabilities and matted it on to some coordinating paper. I matted the cloud paper on to the same paper and sewed around the edges. I punched some holes and set some eyelets and threaded the sentiment tag with organza ribbon which I wrapped around the card front before affixing to the card blank.
I added a butterfly made from a punched layer and a butterfly embellishment from Mei flowers and some pearls as a finishing touch.
I hope you have a lovely Friday.

First Guest DT Card!

Hi everyone,
I was delighted to be chosen by Emily to be on her special Guest DT and I am looking forward to working with some talented ladies! Here is my first card.  I used 2 images from a Unity Store kit 'Adventures in Happiness' March 2010 available from Make The Day Special.  The bp is by Flavia, Lemons and Lilacs, which seemed appropriate to use!  The images are coloured with Copics and embellished with punched flowers and glittery gems.
