A Touch of Tweed

Good morning ...Jenny here :)

I've gone with a masculine vibe this morning although many ladies wear tweed as well so I shouldn't really say that!!! I can honestly say I was inspired to make this tweed pattern whilst out walking the dog...we happened to be walking behind a young lad and his Mum on their way to school and he had a rather smart tweed jacket on!! :)

The Herringbone pattern is stamped tone on tone using Lawn fawns Interlocking Backdrops then I used white pigment ink and the diagonal strokes stamp from Belinda's Borders to make a large grid pattern over the top. This was all an experiment piece and I didn't expect to use it so I thought I'd add the stitched line from Avery Elle's Bunting set in blue pigment ink to see how it stamped into the pattern :)

I was quite pleased with the result and decided to cut a panel from it to use... the uneven white ink, which annoyed me at first, actually adds to the effect of texture in the tweed :)

Now what to do for a sentiment!!... I used the Just a Note die from Avery Elle along with the pierced rectangle in the same set to make a faux leather effect label. To make the words stand out I layered it over a pale green piece of card and hand-stitched them to the tweed panel ( the sewing machine wasn't going through three layers of card!!)
I'm quite happy with how it turned out especially because it was a practice piece!!

Unfortunately Belinda's Borders and Bunting are OOS at the moment but the same effects can be achieved by using sets like Mama Elephants Basic Borders or Avery Elle's Celebrate and stitching can be added using smaller stamps such as Lawn Fawns Bon Voyage or Winter Gifts..... have a look at your stamps to see what borders and patterns you have :0)

Thanks for stopping by :)

A Masculine Border??

Hellooo... Jenny here again :0)

With the big kids at home this week for the Easter break I haven't had loads of time
for crafting but I did need a card for my Nephews birthday so I thought I would
reach for my Lawn Fawn Interlocking Backdrops and make a clean and simple masculine card....

After stamping and embossing the border on brown card-stock in Vanilla White EP I used a craft
knife to cut out some of the rectangles. I also stamped and embossed the same border on grey patterned paper and cut a few of the rectangles out so I could adhere them
over the pattern with foam pads. The sentiment is from Grand Greetings, I had to cut the
stamp in two so I could fit it to my card design....
(be careful if you try this, it's quite a tight gap between the words!!)
I followed the shape of the border with my craft knife and then adhered it to the cream card base.
I love the mosaic effect of the three colours.... this pattern reminds me of parquet flooring
and fond memories of the dining hall floor at my first school!!

Just a reminder that the long awaited Lawn Fawn release has arrived and is
on the store website here... it's going fast though but more stock is following soon :0)

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you get some crafty time this weekend :0)

A Sweet Treat

Good Morning and hooray for the weekend :0)

Do you know someone who likes Ice Cream?
Yes?
Well they're in for a treat with this Lawn Fawn stamp set called

looking out at the weather, its hard to imagine summer days and Ice Cream desserts
but we can dream through our crafting can't we :0)

The fun with these stamps is that you can have whatever flavour you like and even add
chocolate sauce too... and all calorie free, bonus :0)

The subtle background has been made by stamping one of the Interlocking Backdrops from
top to bottom with white ink... those chevrons are so easy to match up :0)

Thanks for your visit and I hope you crafty Mums are spoilt rotten
tomorrow for Mothers Day.....
well, at least have a cup of tea bought to you in bed :0)

Merry Christmas

Hello.
Its another Christmas card from me today :)
I die cut the "merry" and used lawn fawns Interlocking backgrounds stamped  behind to add some colour to the letters.
"Christmas"  is stamped using Clair's ABC.
I used some Peppermint twine from lawn fawn to hang the little bauble from Ornate ornaments.
Thanks for looking.
