Two of your Five a Day!!

Hello there :0)... yes I've turned my attention to Fruit and Veg for my Monday morning blog post and it just so happens that today also marks the start of National Vegetarian Week too!!. I could pretend I planned it that way but that would be fibbing!!

I fell in love with the sketchy images in the Hero Arts 'Stamp Your Own Salad' set, they have a bold graphic feel and I could see textiles and patterns popping out at me so I suppose it's a bit odd that I should be trying watercolouring with these images. They help you cheat a little at watercolouring but the recipients of your projects will think you've spent ages on them :)

Because the images have a crosshatch scribbled look to them it means they lay down a nice amount of ink when you use distress ink pads so all you need is a damp waterbrush to fill in the base colour. I found second generation stamping best because its best to start with a pale colour!! Once the base colour is dry you can then build up extra layers and shades to add shape and texture to your images. It's all about taking some scrap watercolour card and having a play with ink and water :)

With the tomatoes above, I completed one fruit first and then blasted it with a heatgun to dry it off before stamping the second image behind it. You don't really need to make masks because you can roughly judge where to wipe the ink away from your image before you stamp it.... any overlap or gaps can easily be rectified when you add water. I got brave and tried inking half the tomato to make a wedge shape.... by wiping some of the ink away in the centre and using second generation stamping I managed to get a paler impression to work with. I Googled an image to make sure I replicated the inner colours and shapes right. I had a few practices first on scrap card :)

The carrots are created pretty much the same, one at a time and allowing them to dry in between layers. The tops aren't quite right for carrots (think they're supposed to be parsnips actually) but that's okay unless you show your husband who's a keen gardener!!
I stamped the tops in a pale green and used darker ink to colour them. The colour bled a little with these so I decided to go with it and work on that look but it's quite hard to make an accidental colour bleed look accidental!!

To finish them off I kept the base card simple and used Lawn Fawns Argyle and Gingham backdrops to add a subtle pattern. The sentiments are from Wplus9's Hand Lettered Thanks and Fresh Picked.

Floral thanks

 Hello.
You may have seen Jenny's fab card on Monday with her super argyle stamping.
Today i have used the same set but in a different way.

I started by masking the top section of my card base.
I then stamped the lines from the argyle backdrops stamp set (currently on sale ) and filled with pink and yellow inks from Avery Elle.
Once that was done i used the Belinda's borders set and just stamped an extra line to make the argyle section look more finished.

I stamped the smaller flower and flourish from Judy's blooms onto the  card base and then again twice more onto some white card.
They were coloured with copics in colours to match the patterned section then fussy cut and adhered to the card.
Before i added the flowers i added some ink splashes to the card.
To finish i used some sequins.

Pink Argyle

Hello there,

Have you checked out the SALE section over at the store??..... well I was having a browse in the week and I came upon the Argyle Backdrops stamp set from Lawn Fawn which inspired me to get mine into use. It's traditionally a pattern associated with the gents so I wanted to use more feminine soft hues to make a background for my card...

I've used Mama Elephants Blush and Winter pigment inks and they really stamp beautifully with this set and it's very easy to line up too..... even more so if you have a block with gridlines marked on it :)

So as not to hide that gorgeous pattern too much, I clustered a few Lawn fawn Heart die cuts and a couple of speech bubbles from the same Wplus9 Knock Knock set I used last week.... I really love these colours together :)

A Case of Bauble (CASE)ing!!!

Hello there..... I hope you're enjoying our month of Christmas projects?? It's certainly helping me to get in the festive mood :0)

Well after last weeks fun cards I have a slice of sophistication for you this morning in the form of Cream and Gold mixed with some natural twine......

After a recent trip to our local Homebase, where Christmas seems to arrive earlier each year!!, I spied this gorgeous tree decoration and decided it would translate well for a bauble on a card so I've used the Paper Smooches Ornaments dies which give you a good selection of shapes and sizes for baubles along with the hanging accessories!!
I've die-cut a piece of shimmery cream card using the largest circle in the set and applied a strip of adhesive across the cente so I could attach lengths of jute as per the photo :0)

Do you see the diamond background on the Kraft panel?? It's created using part of the Argyle Backdrops set from Lawn Fawn... it's a very easy pattern to line up for repeat stamping which I managed to do in Versamark so I could heat emboss it in white. I love how subtle it is while adding interest to the panel.
The sentiment is from Lawn Fawns Let it Snow and is heat embossed on Vellum.
