Easter Treats

Good Morning :0)

I don't know about you but I struggled to get out of bed this morning.... really felt the loss of that hour yesterday!!! Still in a couple of weeks I'll be rising with the sun again and Easter will nearly be apon us so I thought I'd share a yummy project with you made using Lawn fawn stamps ...

I think the Quinns ABC's are even more usable now they have matching dies ... I decided to stamp and fussy cut the letters on patterned paper from the Lets Polka pad and then adhere them onto the matching die cut...extra work but I love the effect. The bunny, chick and eggs are from the Hoppy Easter set and it looks like you are all getting ready for the Easter celebration too because its unfortunately out of stock at the moment... you could use Spring Fling from Paper Smooches instead.

The matching tote is made using a Dienamics die and I've stamped it using the Woodgrain Backdrops before assembling it and then decorated using the Hoppy Easter stamp set again.

It's petite but very cute and the perfect size for two medium sized eggs or lots of mini eggs :0)

Apologies that most of the Lawn fawn stash I've used is out of stock but an order is due in very soon.
Did you see the new stamp company added to the store yesterday?? Sugar Pea Designs is a new company in the States and we have it it stock here, there are some great designs to suit every style and some fun punny sentiments too :0)

Okay thats all from me today, lots to do this week before the schools break up for Easter on Friday but I'll be back with a card on Wednesday this week for the first of our new monthly challenges, hope you can join us too :0)

There's a new brand in Store :-D

Good Morning everyone - hope you're having a fabulous weekend and that all you yummy mummies out there and enjoying your special day and being appropriately spoilt.

Today we have a special Guest on the blog - the fabulously talented Mary J from Where's My Creativity who as well as being my blogging buddy, is also a member of the DT for our lovely new brand - SugarPea Designs.   She has chosen to use one of my favourite stamps from the range and I'm sure you're all going to love it to - he's just so "Hug-A-Bull" ;-)

Mary created a lovely little scene with our bull and framed it before fussy cutting him out and adding one of the great punny sentiments and using lovely background papers from Lili of the Valley.  I love that you can tell someone they are Ador-a-Bull, or Kiss-a-Bull too!

As well as the bull the range includes a Gopher, A sushi making Penguin and a whole heap of other great sets so do check out the full range in Store now.  SugarPea Designs in the UK

Fanciful Feathers for a Friend

Hi! I've been so excited this week to get the chance to play with these gorgeous stamps and dies from WPlus9.  I have been after them for ages!  They are called "Fanciful Feathers".  There are loads of lovely feather sets available at the moment and they are all just a little bit different!  I love this set because of the detail on the stamps and the intricacy of the dies.

I resisted the temptation to use the feather stamps on this card (saving myself!!) and thought I would start by playing with the dies.   I layered strips of Lawn Fawn papers to make the background for this. Something just a wee bit different for me.

I also had a play with a spritzer tool and some distress inks to turn a plain sheet of white cardstock into something with a little more texture.
The greeting is from Fanciful Feathers too!   This is a simply must have set and the good news is more are on there way to Make the Day Special - so keep your eyes peeled!!

And here are the gorgeous sets!

Hope you like it!   Have a lovely weekend!

Mint To Be Happy!

Hello and very happy Friday! I'm your Friday girl over at Make The Day Special and I'm sharing a card with lots of scrummy Wplus9 goodies and a fabulous Avery Elle pigment ink!

I wanted to show how versile the Avery Elle- Mint To Be ink was so I tried a couple of different ways to use it on my card.

Firstly I started by using it normally and just inking and stamping Just Geometrics: Triangles from Wplus9. I stamped the large cluster twice facing different directions. Using the same ink I then went around the edge of my card layer using a sponge to create the soft edge.

Being a pigment ink it will dry on vellum. So I used the Whole Lotta Happy dies and cut out some vellum stars and then stamped the stars from Whole Lotta Happy stamp set on to the vellum star shapes.

I then created the stacked 'happy' die cut using the Happy Trio die (sorry OOS at the moment but you could use the large 'happy' stamp from Whole Lotta Happy embossed in gold). I cut 5 of the 'happy's out of white card stock and stacked up and finished off with a Add A Little Dazzle Gold metal sheet (link in sidebar) 'happy' on the top. The small stars stamped directly on the card layer are 2nd and 3rd generation stamping of the Mint To Be ink.

I wanted to raise the top part of my sentiment up so I decided to do it on a pennant, I also wanted to have it coloured so I used the ink directly onto the pennant so it would coordinate perfectly with the rest of the card. When this was dry I then stamped over the top of the it with my sentiment in black.

Thanks for stopping by!

Throwback and chalky Thursday

Hi all :-)

Ready for another Throwback Thursday?
Today I am testing out the new Avery Elle pigment ink in Pure White to see how it fairs in the chalkboard test :-D
First up,I wanted to make a background using the gorgeous Unity Itty Bitty Born an Original, which is a great alternative to some of the pricier rose sets around. Its a great size, like all the Itty Bitty's,and makes a great background stamp.

I love how this turned out and can't wait to get a layout on it for the scrapbook. As a grunge fan,I wanted it to be a bit 'grubby',so in with some smudging.

The ink is beautifully juicy and vivid-I'm hooked!

I didnt stop there,oh no. I made an Easter card with the not-so-throwback Avery Elle Happy Spring. I love this set sooo much (swoon, sigh, swoon)

So,there is the white. It is super juicy, super vivid and just plain super :-)

Newton and Winston

Hello.
I have three cards today using Newton and Winston from Newtons Nook.
I have gone for three different looks.
First up is a shaped card and i used Newtons birthday bash.
I coloured Newton with pro markers and for  the presents i stamped onto lots of scraps of patterned paper i had on my table before fussy cutting.

For my next card we have Winstons birthday
Winston is coloured with copics.

Card number three...And i used Newtons antics.
This time i coloured newton with my zig pens and almost everything was coloured with them and a pen spritzer.
I kept it very simple and its only one layer.

Thanks for looking.

Ombre Inking

Hi it's me again - filling in for Keren who's taking a little break but will be back next week.

Today I wanted to play along with Avery Elle's current challenge which is ombre/gradient which seemed like the perfect opportunity to test out their new inks which I have to say I really like!

I took a fairly simplistic approach and used 3 tonal inks - celery, lemongrass and mimosa and as they are lovely juicy pigment inks I used the direct to paper technique starting from the lightest and working down to the darkest ink

Then to create something interesting with the ombre paper I made I took the hello word die and die cut it.  I cut the same word again twice in white and layered them up behind the ombre for dimension.  To add a little interest I die cut it once more from black card but this one I offset just slightly to add to the dimensional quality.  One of the sentiments from the companion stamp set was all that was required to finish it off.

If you've already got the inks - we'd love to hear what you think about them - share your thoughts with us on Facebook.  I mostly use dye based inks but I have to say these inks from Avery Elle may just convert me to the pigment-side....   The colours are very rich and they dry really nicely.

A Milestone Birthday Idea

Hello there :0)

I had an idea for making one of those special cards for birthdays that end in a zero!!!!...you know those milestone occasions and it was the Modern Numerals dies from Wplus9 that sparked the idea....

Alongside the numbers you also have symbols in the set of dies, so I used them as negative cuts and teamed them up with the cute candles from Birthday Basics to make this simple sum on my card. As you can see all those candles equal a celebration, courtesey of CASual Fridays Shenanigans stamp set :0)
I love how the candles come as a solid and a patterned die so you can layer them up...I've used slightly darker card behind to show through the twist pattern and added a bit of sparkle to them too :0)
This could work for many a birthday age, it saves your sanity by cutting far fewer candles out as well as keeping your friends and family happy by not plastering their age across a card for them *wink*

Mother's Day Wreath

Happy Sunday - hope the weekend is treating you kindly.

I've suddenly realised that next Sunday is Mother's Day here in the UK and that I'd better get a wriggle on with my card making for it so today my make is the first of my cards - this one will be for my Godmother.

I started with the gorgeous new Spring Wreath Die from Wplus9 but I wanted the flowers I put on it to be more of a statement that the little blooms that come with the die so I added flowers using Papersmooches Flowers Dies.   To give some texture and a rich feel to the card I die cut all my elements from felt.  The sentiment in the centre is also from Wplus9 - the little Mother's Day Bouquet set which I stamped using the awesome new inks from Avery Elle - this one is Fog - a warm mid-grey.   After stamping the sentiment, I ran the panel through a woodgrain folder for more texture before adding the wreath and flowers and accenting them all with a tiny pearl centre.

Restocks from Papersmooches and Lawn Fawn were both posted from the States this week and I am waiting on Mama Elephant to process the order I placed last Saturday - keep an eye out for the new arrivals early to mid-April along with 2 new brands that I'll fill you in on later - I'm keeping those secret until they arrive ;-)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend - catch you later.
