Confetti and Cake

Hello, I'm back again :) We had a lovely week away in Cornwall and to ease myself back into creative mode I made a simple 'girly' birthday card for today's blog post using a couple of older Lawn Fawn sets and the new Confetti background stamp from MFT.

I was actually playing around with this design a few weeks ago for a Lawnscaping challenge but didn't quite get the colours right and shelved it for later. I've kind of based it on the style of cards you might see in Paperchase... very loosely based on them you understand ;)
I had already chopped the 'Happy Birthday' sentiment from So Much To Say into two for another card and discovered it looked like a tiered cake when stacked because of the tall, straight font.
I paired it with the cake stand from Bake me a Cake along with some candles and hey presto an easy cake :)

It was easiest to stamp the  pieces individually with Versamark starting from the bottom and apply embossing powder and heat it as you go. To apply small amounts of powder or selectively add coloured powder to different areas of the stamped image, I use a section of straw cut on the diagonal to act as a small scoop. I used this method for the white and yellow of the candles :)

When the cake was all embossed I made a rough mask from Post-it note paper and then used the Confetti background with a shimmery embossing powder to give the card some sparkle and interest on the white space.

Decorating Doughnuts

Hello there :0)

Yesterday was my sons birthday and, as I mentioned last week, he's a bit of a doughnut connoisseur so I just had to use the Lil Inkers Doughnut die for his card.....

This fab die allows you to get creative with some toppings for your doughnuts :)
After cutting three coloured pieces of icing, I coated the brown and vanilla with Glossy Accents and added chunky white embossing powder and black seed beads to them.
For the pink doughnut I chomped a bite from the icing and base using a scalloped punch before adhering a length of brown twine in a spiral pattern to the pink card. When it was dry I used Glossy Accents again to give it a nice shine and texture :0)

The sentiment is made up from a couple of Lawn fawn sets and an alphabet.... I love the mixing up fonts :0)

It's Anything Goes week over at the Paper Smooches Sparks blog and my card this week uses the new  Cute Fruit set and Sassy Script Alphabet stamp sets...

.... and don't forget our own challenge here at MtDS, they'll be another inspiration boost for you later today from the DT and only a week left for your entries... we've had some fab projects so far :0)

Inspired Thank You's

Morning all :0)
I hope you had a good weekend and managed to dodge the storms!!! We were down in Witshire and had three inches of rain but arrived back in Cambridgeshire yesterday to 4mm!!! We should have collected some and bought it back with us for the garden... Lol :0)

Anyhow, onto my card today and it's a mad last minute rush for teacher Thank You cards but I found my inspiration on a recent shopping trip.....

and here's the notebook that gave me the idea....

Large Jotter Big Plans

I love stationary and these jotter pads by Happy Jackson appealed to me with there bright speech bubbles so I thought I'd use the inspiration. The white panels are cut and mounted onto a piece of black card before die-cutting the speech bubbles from the panel. I then cut the speech bubbles twice in the four different colours and white embossed Thank You sentiments from different stamp sets onto each colour before sticking two bubbles together for extra thickness. Then I simply glued the panel to a card base and placed the bubbles into the correct spaces and embellished with black stamped stars.
I just need to make two more now and find some suitable gifts before Wednesday.... talk about a last minute Lucy!!!
Here are the stamps I used, click on an image to take you to the store :0)
