All about the journey

Hello.

Something a bit different from me today.

I have had the all about the journey set for a while now and have only just got it inked up.

I think my problem was that i just don't travel so no matter how much i love the images i just didn't know how to use them.

So i started of by stamping onto an envelope.

I kept it very simple.

I used two images from the unity kit and sneaked in a little lawn fawn for the lines.

The red is just from a stampin up ink pad that i painted on.

I then decided to make a card to go with it.

Again very simple but with the lovely sentiment that was in the set.

As always you can get all the stamps used from make the day special.
Thanks for looking.

It's Vacation Season!

So where are you going for your hols this year? Staycation for us again I reckon, LOL!

But still might need some vacation tags - you never know! This one uses the Unity All About the Journey kit and I've gone well minimalistic with grey and black stamping on white.

Have a fab day you all.

Go Confidently

What a fabulous quote -

'Go Confidently in the direction of your dreams
live the life you have imagined'

- Henry David Thoreau

This quote is part of the All About The Journey Unity stamp kit, as is the compass also shown here. You can get the kit over at Make The Day Special.

So I've gone all out on the texture and distressing today - I wonder if it is a reflection of my mood?

Have a fun week you all.

Destination gateway

My card today uses stamps from the Unity sets Bold Insight and All About the Journey both available from the Make The Day Special shop.

I stamped the gates on to an alcohol inked background before cutting them out. I added them to the card along with some sequin waste and flowers.

The sentiment was then stamped straight on to the card using black Versafine ink which is one of my favourites for stamping detailed images and sentiments.

Materials used:
Papermania cardstock, Making Memories paper.
Ranger alcohol inks, Ranger Archival ink, Versafine ink, Unity stamps (as above)
Prima flowers, Stickles, Crafty Notions Rainbow Drops
paper roses, sequin waste

Thanks for visiting!

Clean and Simple With Unity

Hey Guys, how you all doing this week?

I've got my most recent practice in clean and simple design for you this week. I've used the wonderful Unity All About The Journey which you can get over at Make The Day Special. Another of my favourite stamp sets!

Have a wonderfully crafty week.

Saturday, 2 April 2011

I've been having so much fun with my Make The Day Special stamps this week, creating a mini-book to keep all of my summer memories together. (It's going to be a really special summer, so check out my blog Obstinate Pursuit if you want to know the details.)

To add detail to some of my pages I've been using the stamps from two beautiful sets, All About The Journey and A Girl & Her Adventures. They are both super stylish and perfect for adding detail to your holiday scrapbook pages or mini-books. Here's some shots from the inside of my mini - and look, I've finally used the whole luggage stamp rather than just a small element of it. Isn't it beautiful?

Plane

Calender

I can't wait to start adding things into my mini-book and I'm certain that I'll also be adding extra details with more of the stamps from these sets. I just can't get over how versatile they are! Enjoy your weekend folks x

Hello. Hi. How Are You?

I'll be the first to admit that I've never really been much of a card maker, but I'm determined to use up some of my smaller scraps and conquer my fear of small (design) spaces by making some cards. So, in an attempt to make life easier for myself, I've been designing mini cards.

These dinky, little cards have a canvas size smaller than an ATC, so filling up the space is a lot easier than when you're designing a traditionally sized card - especially when you have such beautiful stamps to hand.

Mini Card

For the first, I simple stamped a quote from the delicious All About The Journey collection, added some scraps of paper and a hand rolled fabric rose. All done in less time than takes to make a cup of tea.

Hi Card

The second features one of the suitcase stamps from the A Girl & Her Adventures collection but once again I've used it almost as a background stamp and it's made a plain bit of card into an 'oh so pretty' piece of patterned paper and adds a shabby chic, vintage touch. A couple of stickers and embellishments later and I was done.

Two of the easiest cards I've ever made, yet easily two of my favourites.

Shifty Stamping

Last night I sat down to make the title page for my One Little Word album and I thought that some of my favourite the stamps from the All About The Journey kit would work really well with my ornate background paper.

I already had a sheet of cardstock which I'd tested out some of my shimmer mists and stamps on, so I used the section which contained one of the clever quotes from the set as my focal point for the layout.

Shift

You'll also be able to spot another of the map stamps used as a pattern on one of the other cardstock elements. Don't they make a beautiful addition to all the pattern on the page? I'll never get tired of using the stamps from this set - they're so versatile!
Enjoy your weekend x

Destination ATC

I have a small and sweet ATC for you today, made using stamps from three different collections. Three - all on one little ATC!

Firstly, I stamped my sentiment - from All About The Journey straight onto the base of my ATC in black ink. Then, using the floral stamp from the You Deserve Ippity set, stamped into the corner to create a little bit of background.

I've also used the suitcase stamp from the Melody Ross A Girl & Her Adventures set to add a little texture to one of my additional elements. I've been using this stamp quite a lot just to add background to smaller elements - so versatile.

I've finished the ATC off with some paper scraps, stitching and a chipboard butterfly. Cute, no?

Hope you're having a good weekend folks x

Go Confidently Into 2011

What's more appropriate for the New Year than a little Thoreau? Could this quote be any more apt for those of us making resolutions, wanting to change our lives and hoping to acheive our dreams?

For this week's project, I decided to make a New Year's card. I wanted to remind a very special friend that her dreams are within her grasp if she follows her heart, confidently, in the direction of her dreams.

To make the card, I've used a quote stamp from the All About The Journey and, to add a little pattern to a scrap strip of cardstock, I've also used the suitcase stamp from the Melody Ross A Girl & Her Adventures set. It works really well as a 'background' stamp for smaller areas.

Now card making is definitely an area of crafting that I still feel a little out of my depth in, so I'm resolving to make 2011 the year I master my card making!

Have you got any crafting or stamping resolutions this year? We'd love to hear them.
