Booyah!

Hello.
With October fast approaching i wanted to go with something  bit spooky.
Don't worry i scare easily so this is a cute kind of spooky.

I used the Lawn fawn Booyah stamp set and coloured the images with copics.
The background was made using distress inks and some splashes of glimmer mist.
So that it looked more like a scene rather than the three ghosts just floating i die cut a stitched circle and the picket fence die both from lawn fawn.
The sentiment is also from the Booyah set.
I finished with some clear sequins.

Lawn fawn restocks have shipped and should be here early next week :)

Coffee Spills

Hi! Hope you're all raring to go and bright eyed and bushy tailed? No?
Maybe you need some of this... a coffee fountain!
Some days, I'm not sure even this would do the trick, although I'd probably have substantial palpitations trying to down such a lot!
I've used this set from Avery Elle
As long as you don't mind cutting a few coffee cups out- or actually, masking them would work just as well.
The little hearts in the set are perfect for adding a little colour to the scene and if you fancied making them cute, you could add the face that's in the set too!
The spillage was just using some distress ink with water added onto an acrylic block and then painted using a water brush to keep the ink fluid
I got a little paint-happy and sloshed it everywhere. I wasn't meaning for it to get quite that spilled, it even ended up in the left hand corner of the card too.
It was just like the butterscotch sauce all over my kitchen floor on Sunday.. but that's another story ;-)

It's a great set- full of fun images and useful sentiments.
Hope you have a great day, and don't drink too much coffee, (unless it's the really good stuff!)

See you next week,

Keren x

Bunches of Bananas

Hi there :)

I have a simple card to share with you today... the  grid design just makes me happy not to mention that cute little monkey peeking out of the frame :)

These stamps are from a Waffleflower stamp set called Willy and Friends, it's a really great scene builder set with lots of elements for the monkeys to wear and hold. I used the matching dies to cut the monkey and all those banana bunches out.... a laborious job without them!!!

Did you know the monkey's faces in this set are all interchangeable??
I think that's a great design idea although I decided to leave this monkey with his big eyed expression!!.... which bunch of bananas is he eyeing up do you think???

Who's Thirsty?

I've got 3 cards with a drink theme for you today - all were lots of fun to make and the theme is very handy for birthdays for guys or gals!

This first one was pretty hard to photograph as I die cut my margarita glass from acetate and vellum which are never camera friendly but I hope you can see the idea.  The glass top is frosted with glitter for the authentic salt rim.  Some distress ink "smooching" and splattering created the background and the sentiments are from Avery Elle's Happy Hour stamp set which is designed to work with the glasses.  A slice of lemon (card and vellum) and a few sequins finish the look.

I kept the same background idea here but this one is more kid friendly with a bottle of exploding limeade - this time the bottle was die cut from white card and coloured with distress inks before adding the straw and layering a vellum diecut over the top. I added a black bottle shadow diecut behind to make it "pop".  The sentiment is from the complimentary Soda Pop stamp set.   Finished again with some sequins, this time in clear.

Finally I couldn't resist the traditional coke bottle shape that also comes in the die set and fancied making something really fun so I die cut a few bottle tops from the complimentary die.  The coke bottle is coloured with distress markers (gathered twig) and then shaped and glued with gel for a curved 3D look.  I mounted it on a semi-circle of bokeh paper from Lawn Fawn (currently out of stock but I am waiting on a re-order to ship so it will be back soon).  The semi-circular shape is emphasised with some silver twine connecting all the bottle-tops together.  The sentiment is heat embossed on black card and cut out by hand to fit the shape.  The base card has embossed detail courtesy of a stitched rectangle die but just using 3 sides of it and allowing it to hang over the folded edge of the card.   You could use any rectangle here - we have lots of options in store.

NEWS FROM THE STORE:
  • We have a delivery from Lil' Inker Designs coming next week which has their latest release, restocks AND their upcoming release which we will have ready for release day on the 8th October.  This has some stunning Christmas goodies in it!
  • We have a huge restock order in with Lawn Fawn we are waiting on them to ship.  When they have big releases they often sell out so it can take 2 or 3 weeks for them to turn around orders and I don't know until I get it what is and isn't available.   Hopefully we will get all we wanted and soon!
  • I've been waiting over 5 weeks for Neat and Tangled to get some items back in stock so again am waiting on my order with them to ship still.  Fingers crossed that will be soon too.
There are lots of big releases coming in October:
  • Wplus9 on 5th October - if you're on Periscope then you may have seen Dawn showing some sneaks of those and water colouring one of the Christmas sets.   We're on Periscope too now and plan to show you the new releases there in a little more detail as they arrive.
  • Lil' Inker Designs on 8th October
  • Mama Elephant's 3rd Birthday release on 15th October
  • My Favorite Things will have a release the first week of October too
  • Paper Smooches have a release of 3 stamps and 9 dies coming up as well!

Cute Bird Bath Card with My Favorite Things

Hi crafty friends! For my cards today I am using a stamp set by My Favorite Things which is called "Things with Wings". I wanted to keep the card as clean and white as possible, so I created a window to look through onto the card base with a die by My Favorite Things. The background was created with distress colors.

The coloring of the bird and the bird bath was done with Polychromos Pencils and I also used some blending solution to smooth it out. If you want to see it in detail, check out my blog (link in the sidebar to the left) for a video of the entire process.

I punched two holes into the card front to add some twine … just for additional interest because it seemed to me that the card was a little too bland otherwise.

Hope you enjoyed the project! See you again in a week.

Dainty Watercolour Flowers

Hi everybody,

Jill here, with some dainty watercolour washed flowers for you...

I'm still crazy for all things watercolour, and as there's a certain online class happening at the moment, (which I'm sadly not partaking in - but I bet a few of you lucky duckies are!), I thought it was as good a time as any to get messy with some watercolour washing...

I started by cutting Paper Smooches 'Dainty Flowers' die and watercolour washing them using Distress Inks.  I love these delicate little flowers and can picture so many pretty cards I want to make using them! While they were drying, I did a quick wash across my background, again, using Distress Inks, adding a few flicks and splashes across my panel.  I wanted some silver twine to go behind my die-cuts, but didn't have any, so made my own by swooshing some white twine through Versamark Ink, and then through some Silver Sparkle embossing powder.  I'm sure you can imagine what an absolute faff on that was haha - but it did the job so...hey ho!
My sentiment is from the awesome Avery Elle 'So Happy' set, (still one of my all time favourite sentiment sets, just such a gorgeous font), and is heat embossed onto vellum in Silver Sparkle powder, wrapped around my card panel and adhered at the back.

I added a strip of black and white striped card down the side to add a little contrast,  and embellished with a scattering of clear and silver sequins and a few dew drops created using Glossy Accents.

I apologise that the sentiment really didn't show up too good in the photographs, but I really hope you like it.

As always, everything is linked below so be sure to have look, and I shall looking forward to seeing you all next week :)

Haltone Happy

Hello!

I am just stopping by with a quick card featuring Altenew's Halftone Happy stamp set....

I have used a Hero Arts Ombre ink pad - this colour is out of stock at the moment but the halftone designs work great with any of the ombre range.  The rectangle die is not available in store but Lawn Fawn's stitched rectangles would give a similar look.  I chose a stencil from my stash to echo the dotty look of the sentiment.

I love that these Altenew sentiments are big enough to be the focal point of your design and it creates combinations for loads of occasions :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Not enough coffee?

Hello.
Even though its Wednesday it still feels like a Monday to me ...i guess that's because of  the dark mornings.
So this sentiment from Reverse confetti seemed to fit my card perfectly.

I have used three sets from reverse confetti's last release the coffee cups and matching dies and the  coordinating sentiment set
I stamped the coffee swirl directly onto my card base in antique linen distress ink.
I then added a strip of gold glitter card and the black card with the heat embossed "coffee".
The coffee cup has quiet a few layers i wanted to give it some dimension so i used the paper from Avery Elle and the coffee part is lets polka in the dark from lawn fawn.
The papers are adhered to some kraft card to bulk it out.
And to finish a few gold sequins.

Just click the images below to go straight to them.

Pizza Mountains!

 Hi! How are you today?
I thought we've all been good enough for some pizza.
It looks vaguely like pizza?
Maybe a tomato tart?!
Well- strictly speaking, these slices are in fact the snowcapped mountains on the 'Snow Caps' dies from Avery Elle
Hope you can see here where I was going with it?
I even used the little trees as the basis for some extra cheese!
It might have looked more realistic if the  cheese was over more of the pizza but hey, this pizza's a low-cal version ;-)
The sentiment is using another Avery Elle set 'Sending You'
I did try to add a little definition onto the pizza slices using some of the Ombre ink
and also gently bent the edges of the slices down to give more 3D look to them. Hopefully you can see that in the first photos.

Well, if you want a proper look at the dies are actually supposed to do- here's Tara's take on them in this post

If you want a pizza the action (oops!), do grab yourself a set of the dies- they're wonderfully versatile and there are lots of dies in there ready for more 'alternative treatment'!

Enjoy your Tuesday,
