Enjoy the Small Moments

Hello there :)
My card today was a bit of an experiment...... a colouring experiment !! I treated myself to the Stamping Bella set called Forever my Always because I just love the happy couple having a little dance.
I had a go at colouring them with pencils following the picture on the packaging which is a brilliant guide and a great way to practise your shading skills..... I'm not so used to colouring people, give me animals any day ..Lol :)
The couple look like they should be in a photograph though so I decided to have a go at using my Promarkers to make it a sepia image for my card....

For those of you that use Promarkers, I used Almond and Putty for the skin tones then Tan, Cinnamon, Burnt Sienna and Umber for the clothing. I've not tried sepia before and I'm really happy how it came out.
I like the sentiment in the stamp set but this happy couple can be easily paired with many sentiments from your stash.... how about a simple 'Happy Anniversary' greeting?? The Everyday Greetings from Mama Elephant have a few that work perfectly too so I chose this one.
A simple matt of patterned paper was all that was needed to finish the card.... it kind of looks like wallpaper, do you agree ;)

The Stamping Bella line is a new one to me and I have to say they are lovely images that stamp really well and they come ready mounted onto a piece of acetate in the pack for easy storage too :) This loving couple would look great in many colouring mediums and, if the patterns were small enough, you could paper piece them too..... I hope you give them a try even if colouring people isn't your thing ;)

Thinking Of Spring

DSC03667

Now that we are past Christmas my mind kinda believes that spring should be kicking in.... looking out of my window I can see that this is not the case and winter still has it's grip on the North Wales countryside :( But even though it's not spring out there I can still have a piece of spring in here!

If you are a follower of my blog you will know that I'm a sucker for floral stamps... this gal cannot get enough polymer blooms ;) So today I have whipped up a little spring for you on a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card.

DSC03665

I just adore these florals from Altenew 'Painted Flowers', I love how sketchy they are and that if you don't get them positioned exactly right they still look gorgeous! Oh and what's more these guys are currently in the MtDS sale ... so grab them quick before they go!

I stamped the solid images using Hero Arts Shadow Ink- Mint Julep and Tide Pool for the flowers and Field Greens and Green Hills for the leaves. The doodle leaves and buds with no cosponsoring solid images I coloured roughly with Copics.

The sentiment is from Mama Elephant 'Everyday Greetings', I stamped this in black ink and then over stamped in VersaMark and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder to get a raised shiny black effect. As it is heat embossed it will then resist the Heidi Swapp 'Gold Shine' that I sprinkled over.
Thanks for stopping by and have a beautiful day!

Wonderful Day

Good morning and happy Friday ! I hope you have all woken up wide-eyed and bushy tailed.... I guessing that I didn't this morning as I will be up at 5am to go and visit some friends for the weekend. Yay... for catching up with friends but booooo for the early start.

Today I'm sharing a card using one of my favourite sets from Mama Elephant .... In My Heart is such a cute set and the sentiments are just beautiful....

Although the sentiments on this set are beautiful as I mentioned before I wanted this to be a birthday card so I have matched the image with a sentiment from another Mama Elephant set- 'Everyday Greetings'

I have watercoloured my scene using Distress Inks and water and think it makes for a bright, cheery card.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Spring Blooms Watercolour

Hello there :0)

As Tara mentioned yesterday in her blog post, you may see a good smattering of watercolour this week and I'm continuing the trend today using Wplus9's Spring Blooms but I've used the technique that Dawn Woleslagle demonstrated on the Wplus9 blog over the weekend...

For my planter I've used the solid jar insert from Fresh Preserves and used my distress markers to apply ink around the bottom and side edges of the stamp... the fact it's polka dotted doesn't matter as you move the ink about to cover that when you use your waterbrush.
I then used leaves and florals from the Spring Blooms stamp set with distress markers to make my arrangement, just as Dawn did in the video.... it really is fun to play and any failed attempts you should count as practice, this was my third piece but even now I can see improvements that could be made :0)

The sentiment is from the Mama Elephant Everyday Greetings set and as you can see I had a slight ooopsie whilst stamping it but I love the effect...... my old toy typewriter used to do that often!!!

If you haven't watched the video I really recommend it... Dawn is amazing at getting the most from her stamps :0)
