Behind the mask

Today I've been playing with some masking tape and chalk inks to make a couple of Unity cards.

I used the Christy Tomlinson Urban Chevron stamp for the card on the left and the sentiment on the right card is from the Bold Insight store kit.

I've then added stickers and a die-cut to embellish.

Now I'm off to try some more masking and inking.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and, as always, thanks for visiting!

Alcohol ink and Unity

Better late than never, but I've been busy enjoying the lack of rain with the kids!!

Today I've been playing with my neglected alcohol inks and some Unity stamps to make a couple of cards. Both of them use the same technique:

  1. stamp on to glossy cardstock using Versamark ink
  2. emboss the stamped image using clear embossing powder
  3. add alcohol ink over the image and blend until happy with results
  4. place piece of clean paper over the image and heat with an iron until the embossing powder comes off on to clean paper and leaves image on alcohol ink background

My first card uses the Urban Chevron stamp by Christy Tomlinson:

I added a sentiment cut on the Craft Robo and a Prima flower centre.

My second card uses Bella Doilies:

To this one I added a Kaisercraft rub-on sentiment.

As always, thanks for visiting!!

Chevron layout

I found these pictures of my younger son that I wanted to scrap but couldn't find any suitable paper to use so decided to just use stamping to add some pattern. I used the fab Urban Chevron stamp by Christy Tomlinson for Unity Stamps available in the shop here.

I stamped in black ink and then used a silver Promarker and a green Bic pen to colour in a few parts of the chevron before adding the embellishments:

Materials used:
white cardstock
Unity stamp (as above), black Versacolor ink, green Bic pen, silver Promarker
Scrapworks dotz, HOTP button and brad, American Crafts rub-on.

Some Journalling!

Good morning....
As soon as I got my hands on the FAB Christy Tomlinson stamp 'She Leaped' I knew I had to make a Journal page with her....
Gosh it seems ages since I got covered in Orange Ink and Paint.....just the best colour!!! I used a combination of Yellow and Orange paints for my background and then added some more colour with Distress Inks and water splattered! I used some texture paint through a stencil and sprayed over it. The Leaves and the great quote is from another favourite Unity set by Donna Downey 'Imagine It'.
Here she is in close up....I stamped her Wings separately onto a book page...
I also had a little play in a smaller Journal, unfortunately Emily hasn't got this stamp in stock at the moment....but just an idea for you for when she comes into stock.....
She is by Phyllis Harris and is called 'your wings exist'.........I used PINK paint this time and texture paint through a flower stencil. The book is for a PINK loving friend....
Thanks for looking and I'll see you again soon...

A card and tag

I've been playing again with the fab Tattered Chicken Wire stamp by Christy Tomlinson for Unity stamps. As the shop is currently undergoing some changes I can't leave a full link to it but when the shop is ready you should be able to find it here.

For the card I masked off some of the stamp and onlu used about half the width of it to stamp across the cardstock. I then added a sticker and rub-on...nice and simple!

For the tag I stamped across the whole background and then used some gauze, printed chipboard and ribbon to embellish:

Art journalling with Unity

Today I've been playing in a new journal using Unity stamps.

I made the background using Dylusions inks and then randomly stamped using Versamagic chalk inks and the grid stamp from Unity's "Moments in Bloom" store kit available in the shop here and the Unity/Christy Tomlinson stamp "tattered chicken wire" available in the shop here.

After leaving this to dry I then used a floral stamp from the Unity "Quiet Essence" store kit (again in the shop here) and stamped this around the edges using black Versafine ink before colouring in using Prismacolor pencils.

I stamped the sentiment from the Quote Bundle Pack again using Versafine ink and coloured the flowers using pencils again.

The art doll was a digital that I purchased from Etsy seller Sabrina.

Materials used:
Dylusions inks, Versamagic inks, Versafine ink
Unity stamps (as above)
Prismacolor pencils, white Signo pen
digital art doll (as above)

Tattered Chicken Wire tags

Today I have a couple of tags to share using the fab Tattered Chicken Wire stamp by Christy Tomlinson for Unity Stamps and available in the shop here.

I coloured the tags using Dylusions inks before using the stamp to create the backgrounds.

For the first tag I stamped on to the inked background with water to create the texture and then stamped the quote - an {ippity} stamp:

Materials used:
Dylusions inks, black Versafine ink
Unity/Christy Tomlinson stamp (as above), {ippity} quote stamp
metal brad and charm, Vintaj patina inks
ribbons.

For the second tag I again used the stamp to create the background but this time stamped it using black Versafine ink. The sentiment is from the Unity store kit "Life Becoming" available in the shop here:

Materials used:
Dylusions inks, black Versafine ink
Unity/Christy Tomlinson stamp, Unity sentiment stamp (as above)
image from Lisa's Altered Art
metal flower (from repurposed necklace), Vintaj patina inks
lace

Born to fly

Have you seen all the gorgeous new Christy Tomlinson stamps available in the shop? They're fab for art journalling but also useful for cards and layouts.

I have the fab "tattered chicken wire" stamp which reminded me of the shape of honeycomb so I decided to use it to make a "bee" themed card.

I used Prismacolor pencils blended with Sansodor to make a background coloured panel and then stamped with the chicken wire stamp over the top of this panel using distress ink. I masked off some of the stamp as I didn't want to use the whole width of it.

I then stamped the sentiment (from Unity's "Life Becoming" kit available here) using Versafine ink before adding a K & Co vellum bee.

Materials used:
Papermill cardstock
Unity / Christy Tomlinson stamps (as above), Prismacolor pencils, Ranger distress ink, Versafine sepia ink
K & Co vellum die-cut

Thanks for visiting and don't forget to check out the shop as we've recently had new stock including Paper Smooches and Flourishes!!
