Tied in knots!!!

Hello there :)
I have a couple of fun cards for you today, quite CAS and a little on the punny side ;)

The Wicked Nauticool stamp set by Paper Smooches has a fun Rope Knot image and I had a couple of non nautical ideas for it....

This first card utilises the idea of tying a knot to remember something....
I thought it would be useful for a number of occasions :)
I used a Lawn Fawn Alphabet to customise the sentiment and
some white stitching around the navy panel

How about this for a fun 'non-romantic' style wedding card... Tying the knot.. get it? okay you can groan now :)
I was originally going to use the image and sentiment separately on the front of the card but then realised the knot actually makes a fun looking ampersand. The lettering is from We Connect and the spotty pattern is a stamp from Kissables 1

A Super Birthday

It was my Brothers birthday yesterday and I was sooo happy to be able to use the new Avery Elle stamp set called Super for his card.
I can't say we were the biggest comic fans when growing up but there's something about the bright halftone patterns that draw me in as well as the sketched line artwork... this new set from Avery Elle has got it spot on and has matching dies too :)

I've used some paper-piecing for the sky and clouds ( I wish one of the stamp companies would come out with a decent sized half-tone background stamp). To extend the clouds I repeated the stamping across the paper and trimmed out. The skyline is stamped twice on patterned paper and cut out using the matching die...off-setting them adds to the comic sketch feel :)

You can see from this photo how the scene bows out from the card front for some dimension.
The searchlight is made from two layers of yellow vellum, the bottom layer having been cut into a circle to give shape to the beam. I found that the new Stick it adhesive sheets are invisible for adhering vellum.... I backed one of the vellum layers with a piece of stick it and cut the lightbeam out before turning the die 180° and running it back through the bigshot to cut the circle shape.

To personalise my card I used Lawn Fawn's Harrolds ABC's which I think is a very close match to the comic book font you commonly see :)

I reckon this set would be great to mix with the tiny heroes from Mame Elephant and definitely a perfect backdrop for the hero in the Paper Smooches set called Super

Over at the Paper Smooches Sparks challenge blog its an Anything Goes Week so it would be great to see you playing along, go check out the DT inspiration and details of how to play :)

Sixty Years Young!!

Good morning, hope you all had a fabulous weekend.... loving the sunshine but a good watering for the garden and allotment is in order now, time for a rain dance I think :0)

I'll spare you the details on that and instead, move swiftly onto my card today which is for my Brother-in-Law who turns Sixty at the end of this week and has decided to run a half Marathon to mark the occasion!!!

I reached for the Paper Smooches 'Hope' stamp set because although it has some amazing and encouraging sentiments for loved ones battling cancer it also contains this running shoe which can be used for any other type of card.
I stamped it twice and coloured them both with Promarkers before cutting them out... you could even thread your own laces with twine to add extra dimension. To customize the sentiment I used Lawn Fawns Harold's ABC's to write Years Young.... I wanted the panel to look like the 'runner number' attached to a running vest so I used some safety pin dies from MFT.
It's a great set... look at that boxing glove too, another image that can be used for a sporty card!!
