The Sunday Strolling, Walking Dead.

Hi everybody.

Holy macaroni - October already?!  That can only mean one thing...HALLOWEEEEEN!  And I'm getting into the spirit of things this week...

I saw this card doing the rounds in blogland this week, where one very talented lady had turned Mama Elephant's Penguins into Zombies!  It was so clever, and so funny, I just had to try something similar...

I used Mama Elephant's Sunday Stroll and Sunday Sentiments to build up my scene as the way the little boy and girl are standing looks just like the way zombies walk haha.

I added some scars and scratches to my little characters, and coloured using Distress Inks as watercolour.  I added the purple as that kind of smoky ground haze you always get in Zombie films lol.

I finished off my sentiment using Mama Elephant's Starry Night set to help make the card make sense...kind of haha.  Just go with me on this one, I didn't have any 'Zombie sentiments' lol.

This was so much fun to do and really shows how far these gorgeous little character sets can be stretched.  I now want to 'Zombify' everything I own...I'm going to spend all of October turning my cute stamps into mean monsters!

I really hope you like it.  As always, everything is linked below so go make your own monsters!

See you next week.

Throwback Thursday

Hello!

Its nearly the weekend! Wahoo!
August is a veeeery busy Birthday month for me,so todays card is inevitably a Birthday one ;-)

I used all Mama Elephant products- Cosmic Stars and Starry Nights,(which is currently out of stock) and the scrummy not so throwback Starburst Cover Plate to create this, plus a smattering of Frantage for some extra stars

How cute is that lion?!

The Starburst plate is mounted over some glitter cardstock and raised on pop dots to create a mini shadowbox .

Dont forget to play along with our current challenge-its a beautiful Autumnal colours one this month, and theres plenty of time left to enter :-)

Have a great weekend when it arrives!

Painting Circles

Sorry I'm a little late with my post today I've been waiting for the light to take my photos as my cards have a watercolour background and it's been tricky to get them to show up.  You may find a bit of a watercolour theme going on here for a while as half the DT and I are taking the current Online Card Class as I'm sure many of you are too.

On both my cards I was having a play with a technique from the class that features watercolour washes with stencils - I won't go into detail of how to do it, as that wouldn't be fair on those of us who've paid to take the class but here is my first attempt.

Once I'd completed by piece I die cut it and stamped and embossed the gorgeous sentiment from Mama Elephant's Make a Wish set and I added a few of the stars for good measure too.   My husband pointed out that the background looked like a zodiac so I immediately had another go and made this:

I used LuminArte shimmer paints this time for a cosmological feel but it really doesn't photograph well.  Once I'd done the background I left it to dry whilst I coloured and cut out all the signs of the zodiac from Mama Elephant's Cosmic Stars set and added a sentiments and some stars from the co-ordinating Starry Night set.   The characters are coloured with distress markers to keep with the watercolouring theme.   This was my first Mama Elephant purchase I love these sets and the characters can be used in a completely non-astrological way too.

Enjoy what's left of your weekend.

A Cosy Little Caravan!!!

Caravaning in this weather!!!..... some people would but it's not for me..... let's pretend it's a warm summers night in this card and you can hear the crickets chirruping, now we're talking :0)

I've used the super cute set from Avery Elle called Home Sweet Home which has three very different and fun types of dwellings to use for your cards. The inked scene behind uses trees from Mama Elephants Rustic Spring and the silver stars are courtesey of Mama Elephants Starry Night set. To create the crescent moon I punched a circle in a post it note and simply offset the positive piece over the aperture before daubing white ink through the crescent shape.

There are quite a few different sentiments to choose from in the set but this seemed to fit the space and mood I was in... yep wishing for the warmer weather but unfortunately still minus the caravan for now :0)

See you next week :0)
