Dino birthday

Hello.

Today i have a dino birthday card that i made for my nephew Keane.

He knows all the names for dinosaurs and has done from a very young age, he loves them in a big way.

So it seemed appropriate to make a card using Paper smooches Cutasaurus which is currently out of stock.

I also used the matching dies which are in stock and you can get here.

I coloured all the images using copics.

Other sets used are Birthday sampler and He said she said.

Layers of Lawn Fawn

Hello! 

Keeping you on your toes again today-its Lou here!

Today's card is a Lawn Fawn one,using the Bright Side Petite Paper Pad and Grand Greetings  sentiment set (SUCH a useful set!),plus a handmade flower and a bit of ribbon. 

It is surprisingly easy to do-I cut four circles out from each of the papers I wanted to use,using a 3/4 inch circle punch. The hardest part is lining up that first line,but once you have them in place,the rest are easy peasy. Just glue the smallest bit at the top of the circle,then you can slot all the other circles underneath. Trim any overhangs and in between each circle along the bottom and add ribbon across the top and flower or any other embellishment and add your sentiment.

 I love the look of this card as it seems to appeal to all ages-my 3 and 7 year olds went mad over it,each requesting one (Oh great!) and my Mum and her friends love it too. So I can declare with conviction that Lawn Fawn papers are universally appealing ;-)

Colour Me In!!

Hi everyone!  I was just thinking about what would be needed on a dull, wet Monday in the middle of British summertime.. and I thought...bright colours!
So here is my card for today!

This is the I Heart Art set from Paper Smooches.

It's such a versatile set which just shouts "colour me in!!".  I used promarkers to colour these.

Dreams of books

I seem to be overrun with cards and tags so decided to make a bookmark for today's post as I'm always needing more of them, with books lying all around the house!!

I started with a base of watercolour paper which I sprayed with Dylusions inks and then stamped the image from Unity's Love Life stamp set using black Memento ink. I then doodled around the edges using Posca paint pens and added a ribbon:

A Little Something.....

No Prizes for guessing which companies stamps I've been playing with for todays blog post!!!

We're all bathing in Wplus9 yumminess here at Make the Day Special 

as I expect many of you are too :0)

I dived straight into the Blanket Stitch Blooms and Dies and had fun making up some flowers...

Blanket stitch takes me back to my early school days, I think it was the 

second or third stich I ever learnt in sewing club and I definitely remember sitting and carefully 

stitching all the way round my Girl Guide campfire blanket!!

It's not so time consuming to make these blooms and I found that stamping the
stitching first and then filling in the coloured layers was the easiest, before die-cutting
 them out using the method I highlighted on this post.
I love the two part sentiments in this set which are geared up for
Get Well Soon cards although I think this sentiment could be used 

for other occasions too :0)

I also managed to finish off my Mini Card set from last weeks post, I made a small box in 

the end and decorated the lid....

... I was really pleased with the end result and they were gratefully received too :0)

Using Up Some Waste ...

Happy Friday one and all. I hope you have all had a great week, me and the little ones have had a very relaxed first week to the summer holidays crafting, movies and running around.

It's my day to post over at Make The Day Special..... and guess what (if you hadn't seen my post yesterday) Wplus9 has landed at the Make The Day Special store ... I'm sooo excited about this as the Fresh Cut Florals stamps and dies have become my favourite go-to set :-D

When cutting out the flowers out of white card I was left with quite a bit of negative 'waste' so I thought it might be fun to have a play with this and utilize it on a card. So I inked it up in a ombre effect from pink to purple and layered it onto a kraft card.

I then thought it would be fun and a bit different to stamp the flowers on to a kraft background. It gives such a different look to stamped onto white - much more muted.

The frame on which the bouquet has been placed is from the Avery Elle set 'Framed Fonts', it is such a great set - the sentiments are awesome and the frame is soooo easy to cut out ..bonus!! I then added the lil 'You Are Invited' from the Paper Smooches set 'Salutations'. 

I hope I have inspired you to use up that pesky 'waste', have a great weekend.

Quick thank you cards

Hello.

Sorry for the late post today.

Today was the kids last day of school and yesterday morning i thought i had better whip up some quick cards.

I didn't want to go down the normal route of apples ,books and blackboards so i went with something more personal.

My son has had the best support from his teacher and TA and i wanted it to look like he was saying "Thank you".

I found this recent photo and loved it.

I then used the Lawn fawn stamp set Many thanks for the speech bubble.

And then added the teacher and TA's names using Claire' ABC.

There you have it two quick thank you cards.

 It took about 10 minutes to make both.
