Spring Blooms Watercolour

Hello there :0)

As Tara mentioned yesterday in her blog post, you may see a good smattering of watercolour this week and I'm continuing the trend today using Wplus9's Spring Blooms but I've used the technique that Dawn Woleslagle demonstrated on the Wplus9 blog over the weekend...

For my planter I've used the solid jar insert from Fresh Preserves and used my distress markers to apply ink around the bottom and side edges of the stamp... the fact it's polka dotted doesn't matter as you move the ink about to cover that when you use your waterbrush.
I then used leaves and florals from the Spring Blooms stamp set with distress markers to make my arrangement, just as Dawn did in the video.... it really is fun to play and any failed attempts you should count as practice, this was my third piece but even now I can see improvements that could be made :0)

The sentiment is from the Mama Elephant Everyday Greetings set and as you can see I had a slight ooopsie whilst stamping it but I love the effect...... my old toy typewriter used to do that often!!!

If you haven't watched the video I really recommend it... Dawn is amazing at getting the most from her stamps :0)

Painting Circles

Sorry I'm a little late with my post today I've been waiting for the light to take my photos as my cards have a watercolour background and it's been tricky to get them to show up.  You may find a bit of a watercolour theme going on here for a while as half the DT and I are taking the current Online Card Class as I'm sure many of you are too.

On both my cards I was having a play with a technique from the class that features watercolour washes with stencils - I won't go into detail of how to do it, as that wouldn't be fair on those of us who've paid to take the class but here is my first attempt.

Once I'd completed by piece I die cut it and stamped and embossed the gorgeous sentiment from Mama Elephant's Make a Wish set and I added a few of the stars for good measure too.   My husband pointed out that the background looked like a zodiac so I immediately had another go and made this:

I used LuminArte shimmer paints this time for a cosmological feel but it really doesn't photograph well.  Once I'd done the background I left it to dry whilst I coloured and cut out all the signs of the zodiac from Mama Elephant's Cosmic Stars set and added a sentiments and some stars from the co-ordinating Starry Night set.   The characters are coloured with distress markers to keep with the watercolouring theme.   This was my first Mama Elephant purchase I love these sets and the characters can be used in a completely non-astrological way too.

Enjoy what's left of your weekend.

Tara

Hey Cupcake!

Hi!  Anyone in the mood for a cupcake today!?  I'm just loving these gorgeous little cupcakes from WPlus9.  This set contains a huge number of delicious goodies - called Sweet Treats!
I've chosen to colour these with Promarkers but there is also a matching set of filler stamps for those of you into your two-stage stamping!

Yummy!  These look good enough to eat!

I finished the card with a sentiment from Strictly Sentiments 1 and some Ink Splats (I just love ink splats!)

I hope you like it!   Have a lovely weekend!

So Awesome

Hi there and happy Friday ! I hope you have got some great plans for the weekend.  Today is my day to post over at the Make The Day Special blog and I have a really funky card to share with you guys today.

For this very boy teenagery card I have used the limited edition 'So 80s' from Wplus9 this is such a great set to use for those (what I think are ) hardest to make for teens.

To create the background I stamped the large paint stroke in a rainbow of inks to get this colour blocked effect.

I have added glossy accents to the sentiment to draw the eye into it.

Thank you so much for popping by!

Throwback Thursday (almost!)

Hello!

Dont know about your neck of the woods, but we have officially lost the sun! Le sigh. Rainy days make for perfect crafty,no?
So today I have focused on making a background using a gorgeous set from Wplus9 Coming up Roses-I know, not exactly a throwback yet,but its not the newest release ;-)
I made two cards, both from the same set but with a very different feel.

This is super easy to do,and this set lends itself beautifully to both a focus and a background, and as you can see,you can make a card for someone whatever their age and taste.

I hope you like these and they inspire you!

Many thanks

Hello.
My card today uses some of the new Avery Elle stamps.
I have used the Write it stamp set.
It has three large beautiful handwritten swirly sentiments and an old fashioned ink pen.
As this is an arty looking set i went with an arty watercolour style background.
I used distress inks to make the background and once dry the sentiments was heat embossed in white.
Thanks for looking.
