Butterfly for you and robots for the boys

My card to show you today is using a butterfly stamp from the gorgeous Flutterescent set by Layers of Color and available to buy at Make The Day Special:

I cut a shaped card from Bazzill Bling card and then sewed together my patterned papers before adding ruffled ribbon and the alphabet stickers. The butterfly was stamped using Memento inks on to cardstock before cutting it out to stick on the card. As a finishing touch I added some paper roses.

For the men/boys I made some cards using the awesomely cute robots from the Spaceships and Robots set but I've noticed that this set is currently out of stock in the Make The Day Special shop. However I thought I'd just show you them as they really are quite cute.

I'm sure Emily would be pleased to help you if you want these stamps :-)

Little Forest Friends

I was inspired by a recent photo of a giant snail on one of my Friend's blogs to use the Forest Friends 'My cute stamps' set which is available now from Make the Day Special. I love the little characters that are in this set and there are so many little extras like flowers, branches and leaves, you can create some lovely little scenes.

I chose to use the little snail and to make a mini card. I cut a scalloped base using my Nestabilities and then cut some new Basic Grey Green at heart paper to cover the base. I layered this with some green patterned paper and some pale blue and sewed around the edges using a variety of stitches.

I stamped the snail directly onto the background with the greeting. I then stamped the snail on to a piece of white card and coloured him in. I cut him out and stuck him to the card using foam pads and added glossy accents to his shell and eyes. I added a couple of flowers and a gorgeous Fimo button handmade by Jane.
I finished the card off with some bright pink stick on pearls.
Have a lovely Friday!

"Ashley's blossoms" from My cute stamps

Hello, and as the title says Ive use the "Ashley's blossom" set from my cute stamp. I started by stamping using my distress inks Ive then used the same inks to colour the background and added the sentiment. I matted this on to some paper from autumn leaves and i used the distress ink to dull the colour a bit before i hand sewed the edges.
I added a sheet of paper to the inside and stamped more of the image and added one of my own sentiments.
Thanks for looking.

Feel better soon....

It's the start of another week...hopefully another one of SUN! Since we've all been shouting about the new lines stocked in the Make the Day Special Shop, I thought I'd return to the existing lines and QKR Stampede. The stamp I've used is called 'In Love' but I've used it with a Get Well Soon sentiment from Ippity's  Just Wanted to Say:

Have a great day!

Christmas in May?!

Have you seen the gorgeous new Layers of Color stamps in the shop? I've been playing with the reindeer set and made a few tags ready for Christmas gifts.

I started by stamping the images on to plain white cardstock using Versamark ink and then heat embossed using metallic embossing powders:

The stamped images were all cut out and then placed on the tags and embellished. All the papers used were scrap pieces that have been in my stash for quite a while!

Hope that seeing Christmas stuff has cooled you down during the current hot spell and as ever thanks for visiting!!

A Happy Life!

I have a card to share with you today made with a stamp from the Adventures in Happiness kit available from 'Make the day Special'. I love all the sentiments in this set and they are perfect for putting together quick simple and stylish cards.

To make this card, I stamped the sentiment on some Bobunny paper, coloured it with Promarkers and cut it out with my Nestabilities. I added gems and some glossy accents to give the hearts some dimension. I layered the sentiment on to a scalloped circle cut from the reverse of the Bobunny. I covered the card base with some more coordinating BoBunny paper and inked the edges. To create the button border, I threaded Elzybells buttons on to paper string by East of India and stuck them down with my glue gun. I stuck my topper above the buttons with foam pads
As a finishing touch, I added a Butterfly with string antennaes, topped with a button.
I hope you have a lovely Friday.

Unity and {Ippity} Together

Hi all, hope you are having a good week. It is Thursday so that means it is my day on the Make The Day Special blog and my card to day is a thought card, a card to give someone some encouragement in their time of need.

I don't know about you but as a card maker I find the sympathy and thought cards the hardest to make and send. I'm so use to making happy, up-beat cards that I get a bit lost when doing sympathy cards. I thought that I might not be the only one that is like that, so I made a simple card that could be sent to someone who needs help.

I've used the new {Ippity} A bit of burlap with white ink for the background, the plant is Unity Insightful Meadow and the sentiment is from the Unity March Store Kit.

Have a lovely day
Kim

Materials:
Stamps - {Ippity} A bit of burlap; Unity Insightful Meadow; Unity March Store Kit

My cute stamps, Hello doodle

My first card using My cute stamps, these are really lovely and great to work with. Ive used the "Hello doodle" set. Lots of stamping and cutting out with this I've then layered everything up using foam pads and put onto the circle. Ive added some smooch around the edges of the circle and also to the middle of the top flower. Finally place the circle over the top of three strips of pp and added the love sentiment.
Thanks for looking.

Look whoooooooo......

Well I simply fell in love with the 'Night Owl' set from new range 'My Cute Stamp' as soon as Emily added them to the shop. I had a lot of fun putting together this new baby card, using the owl and sentiment stamps from the set and adding the branch stamp from the 'You're Tweet' set.

I'd never used clear unmounted stamps before (mostly red or grey rubber) but was delighted with how beautifully these stamped and how great it was to be able to see exactly what you're stamping. I'll definitely be back for more! I love these stamps...

Two tags

I recieved the new Unity May Store kit today and I'm in love already!

I used one of the stamps from the "Moments in Bloom" kit to make 2 different tags shown below. For the first one I used alcohol inks on glossy cardstock before stamping the image using Archival ink:

I then used the same stamp again to make the second tag. I stamped the image first using Versamark ink before embossing it with clear embossing powder. I then coloured the tag using various distress inks before sewing along the edge and ironing the image to remove the embossing powder. The grid stamp from the kit was stamped randomly in chalk ink and then the sentiment stamped ,again, using chalk ink. I then added ribbon and a brad embellishment.

Thanks for visiting the blog and don't forget that all stamps featured can be bought in the shop!
(edited to add) The full May kit has currently sold out but if you contact Emily she may be able to order some more (but you'll need to be quick!).

Friends With Flair - With Sympathy

Hi everyone, Friends with flair time again.

We had sad news last weekend that our friend's father had passed away. He had been fighting cancer for a long time and had been given days to live months ago... he fought until the end. I am sharing today the sympathy card for his wife and for our Friend his son.

Both cards use paper from the new {ippity} paper pack and {ippity} stamps.

I kept both card simple, I fee with cards for this sort of thing it is often the best way to go.

Thanks for visiting I hope you enjoy the hop, full list of participants on the main Unity Blog.

Sweet things!

I was so excited when Emily told us she was going to be stocking 'My Cute Stamp' sets at Make the Day special. I couldn't wait to get my hands on some and have a play, Instead of just one card today, I have two cards to share with you made using the adorable 'Sweet Kawai' set.

These sweet little stamps are just crying out to be coloured in with really juicy vibrant colours. I took inpsiration for my colour theme from one of my favourite paper ranges, Bobunny double dots.

I coloured the donut to match the pink card and added glossy accents to look like glaze and some beads for sprinkles. The card was made using a Sizzix die and embossed with the Cuttlebug double dots folder.
I cut the image out with Nesties and also cut a larger panel using the coloured card. After stamping the sentiment I wrapped ribbon around the coloured card and assembled my topper using foam tape for all the layers. As a finshing touch I added a bow and a stick on pearl.
The green card was put together in the same way minus the beads. I love how these cards turned out and their simplicity. I am tempted to make a whole set of them now in all the Bobunny colours!
I hope you have a lovely Friday!
