Bee a Honey

Happy New Year's Eve everyone! So,what are your New Year's resolutions? More crafting time? ;)

Now that Christmas is over,my crafty thoughts turn to a new year full of holidays to make things for,and so today's card is embracing a touch of lighthearted spring and Valentines Day. I used the super cute, very affordable Lawn Fawn single set,'Bee Mine', and sprayed a hexagonal mask onto Kraft card, which gives a nice subtle background. I then cut around the outside of the hive with a knife and selected which hexagon was to be the 'window' and cut that out too. I stamped the bee image onto tracing paper using an archival ink, coloured him in and glued him into his window. I inked the edges of the hive with gold and brown and added a couple of the other stamps from the set. I love how he glows in different lights :)
He will bee winging his way to someone special soon ;)(Oh come on,I HAD to get some bee puns in somewhere!)

Hope you all have a fablous New Year!

Happy New Year!!!

Hi.... Jenny here :0)

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and managed to find some
crafting goodies under the tree??

The next big event, if you hadn't noticed, is New Year and I like to send out cards to
people that I may have missed from the Christmas card list...oops!!
I've used Paper Smooches stamps for this simple card...

The firework bursts are embossed in silver tinsel EP on some patterned paper and they
really twinkle and sparkle when the card is tilted.
The buildings are highlighted with a gel pen to show the reflection from the fireworks.

I've also made a start on my Thank You cards and again went with
Paper Smooches stamps for this simple design...

I think the speech bubbles make a great background pattern!!

The stamp sets I've used today are:
He Said, She Said - (currently out of stock)

That's all from me today then folks.... I'm off to do battle in the supermarket now :0(
Wishing you all a Happy New Year :0)

Last Minute Christmas cards

Hi everyone... Jenny here :0)

I know we are so close to the big day now and most of you are done with Christmas cards
but I have a few designs to share with you today that I made for my sons
classmates at school..... I haven't had chance to think of anything beyond Christmas this week!!!

I decided to go done the simple route although cutting the reindeer took a while!!
They are 4" square cards, perfect for school friends, here are each design..

I embellished each image with a gem, pom pom or glossy accents and the sentiment was
easy to shape on the acrylic block to fit the design. The pom pom on the snowmans hat was white to start but easily changed with a promarker to match the hat colour :0)

Here are the sets I used..

I want to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy, and hopefully dry, Christmas :0)
I'll be back next week with something other than a Christmas card!!

Thanks for looking

Blossoms and Blooms...

Hi there!
I did promise you a non-Christmas post........

Emily has some lovely new stamps in by Avery Elle   I have got my hands on 'Blossoms and Blooms'....When I saw these I just knew they were made for Black and White cards....so that is what I did.....

The first one I have left very clean and simple.........Just stamped onto a Nestie shape and clear embossed......I did use the flower stamp twice, turning it upside down for my 2nd impression....A bit of spotty ribbon and some Black Pearl blobs and I was done.........

For the 2nd card I have made it slightly larger....Stamped onto the same size Nestie, but I have used the smaller flower head onto White card for a matt. I have embossed the Black card and sanded it slightly...

Thanks Emily, I love my stamps and I'm sure I'll get a lot of use out of them....

I'll see you all soon.....

More Christmasness

Hi there, it’s Ruby.  I’m counting down the sleeps to Santa, are you?

Today I have a couple of cards to share with you.  I’ve always loved cards with groups of three, so thought I’d use that idea for this card. I used the Paper Smooches All Yule Need set for this one.
IMG_2023[1]

Next up is a quick one.  I noticed afterwards that Jenny did something similar to this recently but I didn’t copy, honest.  You know what they say, great minds think alike!

IMG_2026[1]
Same set for the stockings, I just used the sentiment ‘Be Jolly’ from the Paper Smooches Christmas Sampler.

Copic colours - RG29, RG27, RG24, YG05, YG03, YG01

Hope you’re having a good week.

Ciao for now.

Berry Nice!

Good afternoon! Well I am fashionably late once more-what a terrible start to my guesting. I blame ipad and illness :-/
I am showing one of my absolute favourite stamp companies in this weeks spot-Wplus9. I could eat their stamps and dies they are so yummy (but that would be a terrible waste,so I wont!)
This is using a combination of the Fresh Preserves set and also Fresh Picked,on a plain Manilla tag, with lots of embellies :-) I LOVE making tags, they are so much fun and you can try out several stamps and layer them up. I hope you like it,Lou x

A Merry Bauble

Hello... Jenny here, it's been a while since I posted something and I'm still in full Christmas card production!! I probably have more than enough but I tend to get addicted once I get into the swing of it :0)

I have used one of the 'new in store'  Avery Elle sets called Merry and Bright as it was intended and made a bauble  ...

I love that texty circle and it fits perfectly inside a nestie which I've debossed into my white card and then used a stamp positioner to get the stamp perfectly placed. I used a quickie glue pen to add glitter to the un-coloured 'Merry'... It really sparkles like disco lights in real life!! :0)

To show how versatile the stamps are I've used the solid and dottted lines in the set with Versamark ink to make a tone on tone pattern on the base card.... kind of like candy stripes :0)
I'm loving those retro shaped sparkles too... thinking they would look good made into a pattern on a one layer card. They are beautiful stamps to work with and give lovely crisp impressions, see the range in stock here :0)

Christmas Card Time...........Again!!!!

Hi there........

I really thought I'd be finished with my Christmas cards now........I really should know better!!

I decided to use 'Tilda with Holy Baby'  love this stamp..........

It was going to be a small 4x4" card, but somehow it just evolved!! My cards are never planned!!! She is stamped onto a Nestie and coloured with ProMarkers and I have used my nice new fancy circle........part of the reason it has evolved into a bigger card......the card is printed on the other side and would have shown through if I'd have used a smaller card!! I just added some tatty flowers and a message.......

Thanks for looking, I'll be back soon with some non-Christmas cards........I have some nice new Avery Elle stamps to play with :-) Do check them out, they are brand new and really good quality and designs.....  Thanks Emily..

I have only managed four months so far but I thought I would share them with you.

I hope to be back soon with more months and I may have finished by the new year, you never know!

More Christmasness

Hi everyone, it’s Ruby here.  I’m working on building my stash of Christmas cards, finally making a bit of progress!

Today’s cards are very quick to make.  First up is one that I made that I really like.  I just stamped the tree and paper pieced it.  I copic coloured the tree trunk and then attached it to the corner rounded striped square.  To finish I added the gems and stamped sentiment.  My friend wasn’t very keen, I think she thought it looked like it had been thrown together, but I think it’s quite funky.  What do you think?! The Christmas tree and sentiment is from the Paper Smooches All Yule Need set.

2012-12-11 15.27.25
Next up is another one that took a while to colour but it’s a very simple card.  This is from the Lawn Fawn Bows & Holly set.  All I did was cut out the coloured image and pop it up on a pre-made label.  To finish I added some candy cane striped ribbon and a little gem.

2012-12-11 15.28.05
The copics I used were..

BG18, BG15, BG11, BG10, R39, R37, R35, C3, C1

I also made it in this colourway too…

2012-12-11 15.27.11
Well I hope you like what you see.  I will be back next week with some more Christmasness.

Have a great week!

Not just a card...

Hello everyone:-)
My name is Lou and I am on the guest Design Team.
I thought I would start by showing the versatility of the humble stamp-it is great for card making, but you can do all sorts of things with them! Here I have made two little cards, using the beautiful new Lawn Fawn for the sentiments on both cards, and for the super cute ice cream on the girly card. For the boys card I used the Paper Smooches helicopter.
As a simple card...

But these cards lead a double life....!
A cool ornament for a little guy, easily attached to the card with a couple of dimensional dots.

And the other card?

A pretty hair clip! Held even more easily onto the card using its clip tucked into a slit on the back.
Look again at the stamps you have, and the gorgeous ones found on Make The Day Special and don't just think 'card' :-)
Hope you enjoyed my first post,
Lou

Avery Elle and lawn fawn

Hello.
Two cards today.
The first using Avery Elle's Blooming banner set.
I chose some different blues for the colour scheme and stamped away.
I finished the card with some blue liquid pearls.

This card is using the cute little winter owl set from Lawn fawn.
You can find him here.
I made this for our December challenge.
You can find all the details including what the fabulous prize is on our Facebook page.

Jester Socks!

Happy Saturday! It’s Ruby here.

I did a swopsie with Jenny the other day for my card so I’m posting today.

Here’s what I created..
081212
I used two of the Christmas sets from Paper Smooches ..

All Yule Need & Christmas Sampler

All Yule Need       image

I have lots of these little jester socks coloured in. They are soooo therapeutic to colour and you can do them while you watch tv.  I also coloured in some of the socks on the bottom left and the more traditional stocking just above it, eek.  I LOVE Christmas!

I hope you have a fab Saturday whatever you are doing.  We have friends coming over today so I’m guessing it’s gonna be a little hectic!

Tilda With.................

A Big Bouquet.........

Hi there..I have another Tilda card to show you today...

I love this stamp and hopefully next time I'll be able to show you a birthday card made with it.....I think this image can be used for something other than Christmas.......which is always good as we do like to get value out of our stamps!

I used 'Tilda With A Big Bouquet'......Coloured in with ProMarkers. The sentiment is also a 'Tilda' one......and is available here

Thanks for looking and I'll see you soon....

Quilted Christmas

Hi ... Jenny here :0)

I'm popping in today instead of Ruby with a couple of small square Christmas cards
I've made using the Wplus9 Quilt Cuts Die 2 and some Lawn Fawn Fa La La papers...

At the moment the dies are out of stock but they will be back in store soon.... they have obviously been popular because of their resemblance to the Scandanavian style snowflake pattern seen on
this seasons knitwear and they are fun to play around with using different colours and patterns.

I've used the whole die cut on the second card but removed the linear frame on the
first card after adhereing the red petal shapes... they fit perfectly on these
little 4" square cards :0)

A Hula Birthday

Hi Everyone

Birthdays in my family come in clusters and the December ones are about to commence!

I have my Niece's birthday card to share today and as you can see she is turning 5:

I have used Magnolia Rocking Tilda stamp teamed with Lawn Fawn Bright Side papers.  The butterflies are using the W Plus 9 Layered Butterfly die and I gave them tails by using the Magnolia twisted swirl die. The '5' is from Lawn Fawn Quinn's 123s.

Thank you for visiting today

Christmas Reflections

Hi, Jenny here :0)

Pinch and a punch, first day of the month....

..... finally we've had a couple of dry sunny days meaning crisp
frosty mornings which inspired the glistening berries on my festive card today...

Unfortunately glitter dust is a bit camera shy so you can't see the sparkle in this photo....
the berries show up better at this angle :0)

I used the foliage and cluster of three dots from the Paper Smooches 'Reflections' stamp set
and added a bit of dimension to the leaves with coloursoft pencils.
The sentiment is from 'All You Need'

A bit of sparkle has transformed the greenery for a Christmas card, it's such a versatile
stamp set for every season :0)

Have you checked the 'What's New' section on the store recently??
Avery Elle stamps are the newest American stamps in store,
check them out here.... they have a great range of designs :0)
