And…Relax!

Morning! Can't you tell it's the summer holidays!
There needs to be a whole ton of relaxing done.. except I'm not feeling it quite so much!
A card like this would be very welcome right now!
This is probably the simplest card ever.. but just goes to show that sometimes 'less' is most definitely ok!

I've used these lovely products- and for those that thought the font on Louie's ABCs dies might not be too large and only suitable for scrapbooking (ahem.. that would have been me ;-) ).. it's NOT.
It's perfect.
It also subscribes to the 'the bigger the product the more quickly finished the card' school of thought. A CAS quickie at only about 7 minutes in total!
The simple shadow is enough to give a little contrast and the tiny details are courtesy of the Hello Sunshine stamp set
Do try 'minimal'.. it's a wonderful feeling!
Oh.. and don't forget to breathe.. and relax today!

See you next week,

Keren xx

My Favourite Figures!!

Hello there :0)

I'm a little later posting today.... trying to get back into my groove after a fun weeks holiday with the family :0)
Whilst I was away I see the fab new Altenew stamps arrived in store so I thought I'd get mine inky to show you one of my fave's from the first release.....
Yep, it's those stick people in Figure Effects!!! these two imparticular grabbed my attention as they look like they are high 5'ing and CASual Fridays stamps have just the right sentiment to go with them for a simple CAS card :0)

What I like about these figures is that they are individual stamps which adds to the versatility of this set....move them around and add the young lady figure and you have yourself a party going on.....
They're cutting some fine dance moves and again a sentiment from the same CASual Fridays set  Woot Woot is the perfect match :0)
After embossing them in white I stamped some musical notes and stars with Versamark ink along with an oval shadow to ground these guys... a generous coating of sparkle adds to the party feel :0)

I have plenty of ideas for the other figures on this set and the sentiments are great too..... perfect for those clean and simple cards !!

Thanks for stopping by today, catch you next week :0)

Getting My Smooch On

Sorry I'm so late blogging today - we've been house-hunting today.

I had a friend come to the house to do a little job yesterday but I knew they wouldn't let me pay them so I wanted to give them a gift and it had to be golf balls!   So I got out one of my favourite Paper Smooch sets - My Guy to make an appropriate gift tag.

I love this set, it has so many useful "guy" elements.  For this tag I used the golf cart, stamping it on the tag, but also on white card so I could cut it out and layer it up without trying to cut around the fiddly thin lines ;-)  I added some paper cut with Mama Elephants Landscape Trio die and finished with a sentiment from the same stamp set.   Then a little string was all that was needed to "wrap" the gift - keeping it very masculine.

Whilst I had my Paper Smooches out, I used another set to enter this week's Less is More Challenge to create a one layer card with leaves.   This time I went for Leafy Greens but chose to just use the large maple leaf and went autumnal with  pumpkin pie and raspberry jam inks from Hero Arts.

I just stamped each leaf on top of each other in the brown shade and then over-stamped with the red.  I added a big bold sentiment from Mama Elephant's Splendid set once dry and dotted around some glitter and pearl dots to finish.

News from the Store:

  • Wplus9's latest release is currently in customs clearance and should be in Store in a few days.
  • We have a VERY big order in with Lawn Fawn and are currently just working out with them the best way to get it to the UK.  They aren't releasing for another couple of weeks yet but it should be here late August/early September.
  • Mama Elephant have started sneak peeks today so we will be placing orders for their latest release this week.
  • We will have new paper pads, including the latest Christmas designs coming in the next couple of weeks along with restocks on some ink pads.

That's all this week folks - catch you next weekend!

Dotty Hellos

Morning all - I'm filling in today in our vacant slot.   Thanks to everyone who submitted their details for our DT search - we've had A LOT!   So I'll need a few days to go through them all but I'll hopefully announce our new DT member next week.

In the meantime, here's my projects for today.  I've been playing with stencils and big sentiments.

Firstly a really quick and simple hello card using the Hero Arts Bubble Confetti stencil  - simply aligned at an angle across the bottom corner and inked with some distress inks allowing them to soften the higher up the card you go to give a subtle fading background.   Then I used sentiments from Altenew's Super Script - I snipped the "just saying" in half with scissors so I could stamp it either side of the H.   Don't be scared to cut your stamps like this - you get more use out of them and they can easily be put back together on your blocks for stamping as intended ;-)

I then thought that the bubble confetti stencil would also do a great quick bokeh effect.  So for this one I blended a few colours of distress inks and then used the picket fence distress stain to dab though the stencil (this gives a soft white look)   I then turned the stencil 45 degrees and used an opaque white ink for a second layer of dots.   Once dried I used the same Super Script set to create a big bold sentiment in the middle.

Right - that's me for today - I'll be back tomorrow with something completely different!

Wonderful Day

Good morning and happy Friday ! I hope you have all woken up wide-eyed and bushy tailed.... I guessing that I didn't this morning as I will be up at 5am to go and visit some friends for the weekend. Yay... for catching up with friends but booooo for the early start.

Today I'm sharing a card using one of my favourite sets from Mama Elephant .... In My Heart is such a cute set and the sentiments are just beautiful....

Although the sentiments on this set are beautiful as I mentioned before I wanted this to be a birthday card so I have matched the image with a sentiment from another Mama Elephant set- 'Everyday Greetings'

I have watercoloured my scene using Distress Inks and water and think it makes for a bright, cheery card.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Throwback Thursday

Hello!

Its nearly the weekend! Wahoo!
August is a veeeery busy Birthday month for me,so todays card is inevitably a Birthday one ;-)

I used all Mama Elephant products- Cosmic Stars and Starry Nights,(which is currently out of stock) and the scrummy not so throwback Starburst Cover Plate to create this, plus a smattering of Frantage for some extra stars

How cute is that lion?!

The Starburst plate is mounted over some glitter cardstock and raised on pop dots to create a mini shadowbox .

Dont forget to play along with our current challenge-its a beautiful Autumnal colours one this month, and theres plenty of time left to enter :-)

Have a great weekend when it arrives!
