Itty Bitty Christmas!

Morning.....

I thought I'd share a couple of makes with one of the lovely 'Itty Bitties' that Emily sells....

For these makes I have used  'A Child is Born' Love this little stamp set....

I have made a matching Card and Tag...
I stamped and embossed the image and just coloured the centre lightly with one of my ProMarkers.. I then used some Distress Inks to create the 'splattered' background...a bit more embossing and the image was done....
Here they are in detail........................

I used some Black Co-Ordinations card and embossed it and sanded it to reveal the core colour....I have had this card so long....I am glad I have actually managed to use it!

Thanks for looking and I'll see you soon for some more 'Itty Bitty' Christmas makes!

Copic Happy

Hi there, it’s Ruby For today’s card I got a bit Copic happy!

Using three shades of orange I coloured my flowers using the feathering technique.  All I did was flick out the darkest colour from the centre, then blended the next darkest colour and finished with the lighter colour.  I repeated this a few times for each petal to get some depth of colour.

The set I used is the new Paper Smooches Daisies and Paisleys and I combined it with the Paper Smooches Sentiment Sampler.

If you haven’t bought any Copics yet from the shop I would encourage you to have a look, it’s so relaxing to colour. I love it!

Have a great Tuesday!

Mini Making With Colour & Pattern

I'm eagerly anticipating the start of Shimelle's Learn Something New Every Day at the weekend.I've taken part in this annual class many times and there is something wonderfully about revisiting an old favourite. One lesson that I have learnt the hard way though, is that if I don't prepare for the class, I never finish my album!

Using August's Counterfeit Kit has made it fairly easy to get started. I cut down a lot of cardstock and patterned papers to 3 x 5 inches, 'chomped' all of the corners and punched a hole in one end of each piece. To start making the base album feel a little bit more 'lived in', I've decorated the front using a little spritz of Mister Huey's Calico Shine; added a patterned paper effect with the camera stamp from Lawn Fawn's Say Cheese Too; and added a title with some Sassafras Alphas.

Inside the album, I've started to add some additional pattern with the chevron stamp from Papersmooches Geographic - it stamps wonderfully and, because it's a clear stamp, it's so easy to build up the pattern to create a fuller effect - and some extra embellishment with some of the smaller stamps from Papersmooches Teen Routine.

It's shaping up to be a fun album, full of colour and pattern - which is one reason why I love mini-albums, they really give you a chance to experiment with new ideas, products and techniques. Looks like I've started learning already!

Is anyone else planning on taking part this year? Have you done your preparation? Please let me know so that I can come and take a look. You see the best thing about starting class, is all the new friends!

Have good week! Clair x

Alcohol ink and Unity

Better late than never, but I've been busy enjoying the lack of rain with the kids!!

Today I've been playing with my neglected alcohol inks and some Unity stamps to make a couple of cards. Both of them use the same technique:

  1. stamp on to glossy cardstock using Versamark ink
  2. emboss the stamped image using clear embossing powder
  3. add alcohol ink over the image and blend until happy with results
  4. place piece of clean paper over the image and heat with an iron until the embossing powder comes off on to clean paper and leaves image on alcohol ink background

My first card uses the Urban Chevron stamp by Christy Tomlinson:

I added a sentiment cut on the Craft Robo and a Prima flower centre.

My second card uses Bella Doilies:

To this one I added a Kaisercraft rub-on sentiment.

As always, thanks for visiting!!

A Sweet Birthday

Hello Stampers!! are you crafting this bank holiday weekend?... looks like it could be the weather for it!!!

If you are following us on Facebook you'll know that Emily has very recently started stocking a new American Stamp company called Wplus9, they are proving very popular and I've been having a play with a set called Fresh Preserves along with the matching die set, come and see.....

Yep they are super CAS but with the sentiment on that cute little pot of jam they really didn't need a lot else to steel the limelight from them :0)
The matching dies cut the jar,lid and label or the stamp set contains everything to make the cute jam jars if you don't want the dies....but honestly you're going to want them aren't you *wink*...I'm already thinking of other ways to use them :0)
Here's a close up of the jam jar, it measures just over one and half inches high ...
... the solid jam stamp is great for using two coloured inks to add dimension to your jar and with a little highlight with a white gel pen they really pop off the page :0)
The label is blank ready for your combination of image and sentiment from the set or your own message and the little berries in the set would be great for making backgrounds too..... think of the possibilities with this set....  perfect on gift tags or bags for homemade preserves!!!

I'm so happy with the crisp impression from the stamps and they match the size of the dies perfectly... brilliant quality all round :0)
Unfortunately this set has already gone out of stock but they will be back in store soon along with more Wplus9 stamp sets...... find them here

Thanks for looking today :0)

Orchid Happy Birthday!

Hi there!
I have a simple Birthday card to show you today....
I have used one of my favourite stamp companies.....Flourishes  They are really excellent quality and stamp perfectly every time....

I used the 'Orchid' set. Unfortunately Emily hasn't got it in stock at the moment, but I have checked with her and she is hopeful that it will be back in stock very soon...

I stamped it onto an Oval die-cut and coloured with ProMarkers....Then very simply matted onto co-ordinating papers.

Thanks for looking and I'll see you soon.

Pucker Up!

This is a bit of a joke for my daughter and her friend.  My friend and I decided to make our girls both a card to remind them to floss their teeth after brushing!  They are so busy with their little ‘nearly teenager’ lives that they sometimes forget to floss.
200812This little stamp from Paper Smooches Fruitastic seemed perfect for the ‘apple of my eye’… oops sorry that was such a bad pun lol.  I used my copics to colour my apple and then using the blender pen added some dots to remove some of the green to give the apple-y effect.

Hope you’re having a great week, it’s been hot, hot, hot where we are!

Postcard Art......

Hi there!
Today I have a Postcard to show you......It seems ages since I got a bit inky....So enjoyed making this...

I started with a piece of Mountboard 6"x4" and rounded the corners. I have used the Unity Store kit 'All About The Journey'
The images that I wanted to stand out I have stamped and clear embossed in Black. I then used the compass stamp with an embossing pad and clear embossing powder. It's coloured with Adirondak inks and then I have sprayed it with water to give the 'blotchy' effect. The plane and the arrow are stamped onto shrink plastic and I have used a die cut for my sentiment...The Journey word is one of the stamps, I've just used a Black embossing pen and gone round the words....
Hope you like it...I'll catch up with you soon.

It's Fun O'Clock

Hi there, it’s Ruby.  I’ve been wanting to have a go at another CAS card for a while, it’s one of those things I never quite get but I will keep practicing!

This is what I came up with, it was soooo hard not to add more to it.  I’d love to know what you think.

The little clock is from Paper Smooches Perpetual Bliss, isn’t it cute!

That’s it from me today, short and sweet.

Have fun!

A fixation with fungi

I'm trying to get back in to scrapbooking having completed less than 10 layouts so far this year so today I'm sharing a layout with you on which I've used a stamp from Unity's Naturally You store kit.

When I bought my new camera with my birthday money I found myself taking lots of fungi photos and even now the kids still shout at me every time we see more fungi on our walks.

I stamped the fungi stamp straight on to the layout and then coloured it with Prismacolor pencils:

As always, thanks for visiting!

F'ant'astic Day

Morning Everyone and welcome again to the weekend :0)

If you have a dislike of ants then you probably wont like today's card I have for you but seeing as they are Lawn Fawn ants I think they are quite cute!!

I really love the row of marching ants in the set called 'Happy Summer' and together with Quinns Alphabet and Claire's alphabet I made a fun card using the sentiment as the focus.
The Quinns alphabet is great for paper piecing and allowed me to add a pop of colour to the card....I think they are rather proud of their spelling don't you :0)
I'm not quite sure if he's adding the F or removing it!!!

The smaller sets of Lawn Fawn stamps are great value and perfect to use on smaller or CAS cards and of course they work perfectly with other Lawn fawn sets too :0)

Thanks for looking today.

Better Late Than Never.......

Hi there....
I did intend to write this post this afternoon......but I couldn't finish the card in time...

Why is it the most simplest and cleanest looking cards take me so long to do?? Really underestimated this one!!! But I like how it turned out..

I've used some of my favourite stamps by Flourishes, available form Emily here
My Mojo is sadly lacking at the moment...so I had a look on the Flourishes gallery here and took the idea for my card from a few different images, so thanks girls....you really helped.
I used the gorgeous Gerbera  set for the main image coloured with ProMarkers and I coloured the background with Distress Inks.. The sentiment is from the Orchids set. I used an Embossing folder through my faithful 'bug and I've just noticed that the pattern on the mattand the background matches!! How I managed that I don't know!!
I'll hopefully see you again soon....Thanks for looking.

A Bit of Organising

Hello again, it’s Ruby.  I’ve been slowly working on getting my studio organised.  To be honest it’s quite a big job so I’m just doing a little bit at a time in between studying/working.  I have been wanting to create a storage idea for my dies for a long time and when I was over at my friends I discovered some dies that I had completely forgotten I even owned!  (LOVE it when that happens!)

I thought it would be great fun to dig out some old papers and create these little stitched pockets to store all of my dies in.  All I did was cut 12 x 12 sheets of paper in half and then die cut the tabs (you could use a tab hole punch for that) and then stitched up either side before finishing off with a tab that I handwrote on.  I coloured and cut out my little butterfly which is from Paper Smooches Giddy Bugs set and added it to a little label to finish.

I will never be a seamstress but nonetheless I love the fact that I used my sewing machine to make something functional lol.  This is one of my favourite Paper Smooches sets, it always makes me smile and I just love colouring yellow with my Copics which is quite weird because yellow wouldn’t normally be my go-to colour.
070812 (1)_thumb[1]
This is the rest of them waiting to be met attacked by the sewing machine and labelled up.
070812 (2)_thumb[3]
If you want to know what Copic colours I used here’s the list..
RV29, RV23, B02, B05, Y11, Y15, BG10, V06, V04 (All Copic Ciao that Emily sells in the shop.

I used Copic ‘Sketches’ to fill in the gaps because I like to work in trios of colour, but you can just as easily blend the higher number with the lower numbered pens using the ‘tip to tip method’ (technical way of saying rub the lighter colour against the darker colour to make a middle colour).  If you need any help with that just give me a shout.
I’d love to hear of some projects that you have tried with organising, I want to create lots of little beautiful areas in my studio!

Have a great week.  I’ve got a sewing machine calling me!!

Butterfly and paint

I'm back using the Flourishes - Butterfly Moments stamps for my card this week.

I used Kraft cardstock and dry-brushed acrylic paint around the edges and at the bottom before stamping the sentiment from the Flourishes set.

I then added a printed die-cut and some premade flowers:

As always, thanks for visiting!

We all Scream for Ice Cream!!!

Happy Saturday everyone :0)

To try and tempt back out usual warm summer weather I've made three ice creams for my card using Lawn Fawn Stamps....
but there isn't a Lawn Fawn ice cream I hear you say!!!
I've made one up by paper piecing a couple of images, come and see....

For the cone I used the hat from the cute gnome in 'Gnome sweet Gnome' and the dollop of ice cream is the top of the pie from My Silly Valentine. I went with a Neapolitan colour scheme and I love how the tone on tone stamping gave a softer feel to the card....yummy :0)
The sentiment is from SwimSuit Season which I've stamped onto a home-made tag.

I hope you're enjoying watching the Olympics, I must say it's quite a distraction from the housework although I suppose I could do the ironing whilst still watching the TV!!! :0(......My ironing pile is getting to Olympic heights!!!

Thanks for looking today :0)

Notts Weekend Mini Book

For the last couple of weeks, I've been working on turning my photographs from our beautiful Nottingham Weekend into a little mini-book. Lots of cutting, corner chomping, stamping and sticking later and I've finally finished.

I very much wanted the emphasis to be on the photographs and the journalling - and I've included a lot of space for journalling, as well as adding some smaller page titles to add a bit of texture.

There's a lot of pages packed into one little mini book, so I've kept my embellishments to a minimum, using my favourite stamps from Lawn Fawn's;Bon Voyage, Bannerific and Say Cheese Too, along with some of the smaller doily shapes from Unity's Blossom Stackers. There's some teeny bits of bling too, just to add some - but not too much - dimension and some continuity between the pages.

Have Lemons....

...Make Lemonade.
Hello.
I'm still getting my Lawn fawn fix and have used this cute stamp from them today.
I stamped the sentiment into one of the banners from Bannerific.
The image is coloured with Copics.
For the background i used petite paper pack.
Thanks for looking.
