Smile Crocodile!!

Good Morning and happy weekend :0)

Today I have a clean and simple card to share with you that I made this week using the new Lawn Fawn set called Critters Down Under.....

I have paper pieced the cute croc from the set and given him lots of space to wander in.
You can't quite see in the photo but I have given him some shape by using a ball ended embossing tool to rub over the back of certain areas with a foam mat under to help give a smooth shape.

Can't wait to have time to play with the rest of the cute critters in the set!!

Hope you have a great weekend and thanks for looking :0)

She Always Knew...

Hi everyone. It's been too long since I last posted here. Many of you may sympathise with the curse of the missing mojo. Mine's been gone so long, I think it may just have emigrated. So today's post from me is a little different....I bring you the adorable 'She Always Knew' stamp from Unity, not on a card....or even a scrapbook page....but just hanging about in my craft cupboard trying to help me find my missing mojo.

Here's the cute stamp (I call her 'Molly mojo' in my house):

And here she is searching for my mojo in my button jar...
 ...and art journal

So there you have it, if all else fails this little stamp set guarantees an hour of fun colouring the figure, cutting her out and creating your very own story board. She's perfect for bringing to life!

(Ps you can see how the story ended here)

Have a great Friday.

Simply Betty......

Hi there...
Today I've got a simple little card to show you.
I have used a 'Simply Betty' stamp. The rest of the range is available from Emily here
These will be available for a limited time only, so grab one whilst you can..They are great fun and also really good quality and stamp very well.
I have also got this one, so if I have time I'll show you her too...
I love this lady, she has so much attitude!!! I really didn't need to do an awful lot with her......Just coloured with ProMarkers and matted onto some toning paper. The fab sentiment is also available from Emily too, by Paper Smooches, 'Pretty Phrases'
Thanks for looking and I'll see you again soon.

Bon Voyage

Hi everyone, it’s Ruby.  Where is the time going?  It can’t really be a week since I posted last, can it?!

Here’s my card for today.   I love patterned papers so it’s great to have a really simple design that you can use over and over again with all sorts of different stamps.  This card could work for so many occasions just by switching out the car for something else and changing the papers to something a bit more elegant/funky/masculine.  There’s a whole world of opportunity out there for it lol

Bon Voyage
Please accept my apologies for the not so great photo.

I stamped and coloured the Paper Smooches car from the 'My Guy' with Copics, adding Ranger Enamel Accents to the centre of the wheels for some added interest.

My Guy

What would your go-to stamp be for this kind of design I wonder?

Have a great week!

Chevron layout

I found these pictures of my younger son that I wanted to scrap but couldn't find any suitable paper to use so decided to just use stamping to add some pattern. I used the fab Urban Chevron stamp by Christy Tomlinson for Unity Stamps available in the shop here.

I stamped in black ink and then used a silver Promarker and a green Bic pen to colour in a few parts of the chevron before adding the embellishments:

Materials used:
white cardstock
Unity stamp (as above), black Versacolor ink, green Bic pen, silver Promarker
Scrapworks dotz, HOTP button and brad, American Crafts rub-on.

Thanks for visiting!!

You make me Smile

Morning crafty people :0).......I'm sure these weeks are getting shorter!!
I hope you have a great weekend planned and it involves a bit of crafting too :0)

Today I have a card to show you that mixes a few new and old Lawn Fawn stamps to make a new image.....

I couldn't wait to get the new stamp set called Dad's Day because I just wanted to use it with the spectacles from Clear to See but where to find a nose from??? After a search through the sets I thought one of the pears from Silly Valentine would be the perfect shape!!
I part inked it and stamped it first, then masked it with a Post It note so I could stamp the glasses and moustache. The bottom of the pear made a perfect bottom lip and a dot from Gnome Sweet Gnome for the eyes.

I had fun stamping out the background using the stitched border from Belinda's Borders.... by turning the stamp with each impression you can make it look like saddle stitched ribbon!!..... and the sentiment is from Hello Friend.

I think he looks rather fun... hope you do too  :0)

Some Journalling!

Good morning....
As soon as I got my hands on the FAB Christy Tomlinson stamp 'She Leaped' I knew I had to make a Journal page with her....
Gosh it seems ages since I got covered in Orange Ink and Paint.....just the best colour!!! I used a combination of Yellow and Orange paints for my background and then added some more colour with Distress Inks and water splattered! I used some texture paint through a stencil and sprayed over it. The Leaves and the great quote is from another favourite Unity set by Donna Downey 'Imagine It'.
Here she is in close up....I stamped her Wings separately onto a book page...
I also had a little play in a smaller Journal, unfortunately Emily hasn't got this stamp in stock at the moment....but just an idea for you for when she comes into stock.....
She is by Phyllis Harris and is called 'your wings exist'.........I used PINK paint this time and texture paint through a flower stencil. The book is for a PINK loving friend....
Thanks for looking and I'll see you again soon...

You are my sunshine

Hello.
New Lawn fawn are in stock so i decided to use.....
Its such a fun  set and i think a lot of us could do with a bit of sun in our life's eh?.
I stamped straight onto the card blank.
I coloured the sun and clouds with pro markers and added two of the smaller stamps on foam pads for some dimension.
A super easy card to make.
Thanks for looking.

Make A Wish

Hiya, it's Ruby here. Today I have the cutest little dragon to share with you.  I have been wanting to use this little dragon from the Lawn Fawn Critters Ever After set for some time now.  Isn’t he adorable!

190612
I decided to paper piece him in different colours.  The flame is coloured in with red pen, I’m not that good at paper piecing lol.  The circle was just cut from a hole punch and then the star paper pieced.

Hope you have a great day!

Butterflies and Doilies

I've used stamps by 2 different manufacturers to make my card today - Butterfly Moments by Flourishes and Bella Doilies by Unity Stamps.

I used one of the fab Doily stamps on the background paper inked with Versamark ink and then embossed with clear embossing powder.

I stamped the sentiment from the butterfly set on to paper I'd cut with with a Nestabilities die. The two butterflies were stamped on to patterned paper and then cut out before being stuck on the card:

Materials used:
Kraft cardstock, Prima papers
Unity and Flourishes stamps (as above), Ranger sepia Archival ink
Kaisercraft rhinestones
Nestabilities dies

Father's Day

The weekend is here and tomorrow is Fathers Day!

Surprisingly I'm organised this year and this is the card I've made for hubby on behalf of his No1. garden helper.....

He's a very keen gardener...in fact he'd rather be outside in his garden and allotment than in the house and having a large garden means grass cutting is a major job but he actually enjoys it!!!

I used the little Lawnmower and sentiment from a Unity/Jillibean Soup set called Watermelon Gazpacho Soup, it's quite a small stamp in the set so I made a clean and simple scene on a 4" sq card base.
I stamped and fussy cut the mower so I could place it amongst the hand-drawn grass  then inked a part of the sky.
To help place the sentiment I stamp it on a piece of scrap plastic or acetate and then move it around the card to see where it looks best before finally making my decision...it's a great technique to try.

Thanks for your visit today and I hope you have a great weekend :0)

In Remembrance...

Hi there!
I have a card to show you today using one of my favourite stamp sets by Flourishes I love these stamps and they are really good quality too.
I used the 'Violet' set this time..
I coloured my oval matt lightly with one of my Chalk inkpads and then coloured the image with ProMarkers. I think it might help one day if I could cut straight! The sentiment looks a bit wonky....good job I quite like my cards to look as though they are hand made!
Don't forget to check out the MTDS website here Emily has been working really hard to make it easier to use and to also show off all the wonderful stamps...She always gives great service too..
Thanks for looking, I'll catch up with you soon.

Go To Your Happy Place

Hi everyone.  It’s Ruby here and I have a very quick card to share with you.  I think my mojo has gone out the window at the minute, boy it’s hard to get back into the swing of things.

120612

I had these papers left on the table from the burger card I did last week so thought I would use them again in a similar way but this time with a bit of paper piecing.  Paper Smooches stamps are perfect for paper piecing.  The set I used is ‘Get Outta Town’.  Don’t you just love that sentiment?!!  I used a Copic pen to colour in the red, added a bit of twine and ta da, card finished!

If you see my mojo could you send it back to me??!

Our British Summer

What could possibly be more British than Classics In The Park, accompanied by the pitter patter of raindrops on your umbrella? Oh, wait, I forgot to mention the picnic blanket, the stupidly inappropriate clothes and the fact that we only had two umbrellas!

The little clouds from Bon Voyage were perfect for this particular layout! And to echo the many, many slightly 'older' ladies who had obviously had a little too much Pimms & Lemonade before leaving the house and were aggressively waving their flags to rule Britannia - I chose some of the cute banners from Bannerific

I'm guessing these would also be amazing on some of your Jubliee Weekend layouts!

So if you haven't got these sets already - snap them up!

Shrink plastic charms

I've been playing with Unity stamps and shrink plastic again but it was only after making one of them and coming to blog it that I realised the shop no longer has it in stock. However, I'm still going to share it as it's so easy to do and to use any stamp!

I stamped the shoe (originally from a Melody Ross/Unity set) on to shrink plastic using black Stazon ink and then lightly coloured it with Prismacolor pencils before punching a hole and then using a heat gun to shrink. It was then easy to use a jump ring through the hole and add it to a beaded bracelet while making it.

I then used another piece of shrink plastic and a stamp from the Unity/Scrapbook Royalty set Better.Somewhere.Today to make a tag to attach with a ribbon. This time I used chalk pastels to colour it:

I'm off to have a look through my stamps to see what other ones I can use on bracelets now LOL!!

Thanks for visiting!

Spotty Leaves

Happy weekend to you all, I don't know about you but the long bank holiday has thrown me completely off track this week so Saturday crept up quite quickly :0)

I've been using my Paper Smooches Reflections set to stamp to make a card and tried stamping on patterned paper which is something I do often for paper piecing but not like this......

I pulled out the spotty paper because I wanted to use the maize colour on my card and I actually love how the leaves appear dotty because the white spots show the brown ink darker.
The flowers are punched from patterned paper in the Bright Side Lawn Fawn pad and shaped slightly to give a little dimension, the centres have been made with glossy accents.

I think the solid stamps in this set work well with this technique depending what paper and colours you choose but its fun to experiment :0)

Hope you get some crafty time this weekend to perhaps try it out and don't forget to link up your cards to our Flickr gallery :0)

Oh and keep an eye out for the new Lawn Fawn stamps arriving next week in the store.

Invite

Hi, it’s Ruby and today I made a little invite. I know this looks really simple but it took me ages!!  I find CAS cards really challenging.  I want to keep layering and layering, but sometimes you just need to make some quick cards so every now and then I go back to this style and see if I can do it.

This was the result…
IMG_1296[1]
I used the hamburger from the fun Paper Smooches Alfresco set, it’s such a cute set.  I coloured the burger in with Copics and added a bit of texture with my colourless blender, just adding mini dots.  To finish I added some white gel pen to the bun and the little seeds, plus some faux stitching for a bit of colour.
IMG_1294[1] Have you seen our new website for the Make The Day Special shop yet?  It’s fab, so much easier to navigate and so much yumminess too.

I hope you’ve been enjoying the Jubilee celebrations and you’re making the most of the extra time off.  Have fun!

Insightful Meadows

Good Morning ,
It's the Jubilee weekend here in the UK and as usual the weather is going to do it's best at being so typically British with a forecast of rain..... certainly for Sunday, which is when our village celebrations are taking place!!!

Now if I'd thought ahead and planned this properly I would have had a Jubilee themed project for you, even a red, white and blue colour scheme..... but organisation is not my strong point so instead I have a card to share that I made using the Unity 'Insightful Meadows' Stamp set....

..... well it is blue and white, so almost patriotic!!

This is a little step outside my normal comfort zone as getting inky is a style I admire but never really excel at so  I wanted to use this stamp set because the tall flower heads lend themselves to this technique.
I stamped a scene first on a separate piece of card and used a nestie to select and cut a circular area of the image and used the same size nestie to cut an aperture in my raised panel before part embossing it.
I love the aperture as it means I could attempt a small area of inking rather than a large scene.
The butterflies are punched from a failed first attempt at the emboss resist technique, I think the pattern gives more interest to them rather than a flat colour.
A touch of stickles to the seed-heads and butterfly bodies and it was finished :0)

Here is the Unity set I used and it's available here in the store along with some other gorgeous flower sets that I spied :0)

I'm going to have to play with this set some more and get more adventurous with my inks and embossing :0)

As you've probably already discovered the new look store is up and running with a easy to use interface to help you search or browse the stamp sets, please go over and have a look... there's even a SALE section!!

The 'May' release Paper Smooches are in and the latest Lawn Fawn stamps are on their way ....yippee :0)

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a great celebration weekend whatever the weather :0)
