Beyond the Big Bloom

Hello and Happy Easter to all our crafty readers :0)

Instead of a seasonal project for you today I've been playing with my
new Paper Smooches dies... the Big Bloom die to be exact, and I've come up with
two extra uses for it besides the intended flower shape...

Using the middle sized flower with the Bold Blooms stamp set is the obvious way to use this
die set and the three different sizes allow you to add dimension when building your blooms.
I am quite impressed with how the die cuts so close to the stamped shape... I used the technique from this post to make sure I placed them precisely before running through the Bigshot.
I kept my blooms simple and used the loopy leaf die to make my posy of flowers :0)

Now how about using the three different sizes to build a tree??!!
Love the dimension you can make with them or use singly as three different size trees...
I've used a tree trunk from Spring Groves over the large shaped bloom aperture and
hung a bird box from Hang Ups to make a new home card :0)

I thought I would experiment cutting the blooms in half and
made fluffy clouds with them.... I think they work quite well in some Lawn Fawn
patterned paper with a punched out sun for a quick get well soon type of card.

I love when a die can have so many uses.... I feel it's earned a worthy place in my craftroom :0)
I'm still thinking of more ... how about you??

Thanks for visiting today

Bright Days

Hello..... Jenny here :0)

I'm here today with Kate for a joint post to showcase an
Avery Elle stamp set called Bright Days which will be back in stock soon.

We thought it would be fun to see how we each would use the same stamp set!!

As you can see it's quite a versatile set with elements to build your own patterns
and Kate went with rays of sunshine in a gorgeous warm yellows and oranges......

I love how the rays and the circular frame draw your eye to the sentiment,
just the warmth we need in this weather!!

OR..... the long thin triangles can be used in other ways too,
they became animal stripes for my card....

I used Distress Inks to colour the background and stamped the rays in black
to mimic a tigers coat..... the sentiment in the set wasn't really going work with this card
so I used lettering from another Avery Elle set called
Fun with Letters to spell out the words on vellum.

Two different cards made from the same elements in the stamp set and
I hope we've inspired you to think of lots more yourself  :0)

Thanks for looking

Hello Honey

Hello again,Im back already! In place of Ruby today:-)

I have a confession...
I am a tag freak. I love tags. I love making them,I love getting them and I especially love looking at ones other people make. Today's blog is for a tag I have just finished, using the super duper cute Paper Smooches Loopy Leaf Die,which as soon as it arrived,I had an almost uncontrollable urge to use it with felt. I cuts it beautifully. I cut so many little green fronds, the craft room floor looks like a forest! They are so clean and pleasing. So anyway,I found a use for two of them (just another 3488 to go! ;-) )I put them on a simple white cardstock tag, originally with the idea of using them in a sort of Spring bouquet, but then I saw my Lawn Fawn Dewey Decimal petite pad peeping out under the piles of leaves I had just cut,and it was open on the honeycomb page. It looked so perfect it gave me a new idea. I used the gorgeous versatile new Paper Smooches Flag Tags set to create a fish tail flag and cut it out and stamped the cute stitching around the inside (what a great idea that is! Love Paper Smooches),set the leaves on the fish tail and coloured in the hive from beautiful Bee Mine set,and put it on pop dots. Stamped a little heart in the set,and my sentiment. I coloured the big bee and fussy cut her out. She looked too plain just on the card so I pinked off some burlap (another obsession of mine) and mounted her onto that. I cut a teeny tiny bit of tulle for her wings and glued the edge on,so that they flap. Then just added a little of the ever useful Lawn Fawn Triple Twine set in mustard. Voila!

Hope you like it!

I Whaley Like You!

Ahoy there!
Well, snow isn't quite what I was expecting this close to Spring :-/
Today's card is made with one of my favourite sets from my favourite companies, although with this weather, maybe I should have used the penguin instead of the whale!
I have some new Washi tape and immediately thought of this set I had lurking and started thinking nautical thoughts.
I started by wrapping three sets of Washi,in the colours I wanted to stamp the card in,keeping in nautical with blues and reds, and a bit of mustard (can't beat a bit of mustard ;-)) Then,I used the awesomely useful rounded rectangle stacker dies to cut out a frame, stamping the Bitty Buddies frame onto it (it fits pretty much perfectly-score!) I used the Avery Elle Fanfare set to make some waves for the whale, and fussy cut them. I stamped the gorgeous little whale and his water jet onto a piece of card, used the smallest rounded rectangle die for my sentiment and added another heart underneath. I used Stickles on the hearts, then when they were dry,put a bit of Glossy Accents to make the super shiny. After framing the whale and adding the sentiment,I put pop dots on the frame to make it stand out from the Washi background and added two little rope bows from the Lawn Fawn Triple Twine set which complimented and completed the look. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Bitty Buddy set,it's so versatile and not just for Valentines Day. It has matching dies too (always a bonus).
I hope you like it,it was made with a very special person in mind  :-)

A Quick Tag

Hi everyone

I have a quick tag to share with you today.

I used a Tag from the Prima tag pad which has already has some pattern on, I then stamped the background stamp from the Unity Quiet Essence repeatedly onto the tag in light brown ink.  I then stamped the flower onto the tag and coloured with copics.  The sentiment was stamped onto card, edges inked and then mounted.  I decorated the tag with lace and rick rack.

Just a quick make but I hope you like it.

Roll With It

Hi... Jenny here :0)

Did you see the new Avery Elle stamps in store?
I have used the sets called Celebrate and Roll with it for my card today...

I just love the bikes and all the extras you can add to them including a lamp, flags,
streamers and a basket with different items to put inside it too :0)
I went with a more masculine style for my bike and colour scheme, using the fantastic
diagonal stripe border to give some texture...  did you see the square of plaid were the lines intersect
..... hmmm I think this will be a very useful stamp indeed  :0)

Here are the sets I used

Thanks for stopping by today :0)

Milliner Miss??

Hi there...

She here today...........

I have been playing with my beautiful  Rogue Redhead ladies again :-) Also the lovely Lou has sent me the gorgeous Unity 'Blossom Stackers' which have been on my wishlist for ages.........

I found the time to play on Saturday and thought I'd combine them...

And here she is......

I stamped the large and small Blossoms onto some printed paper......I chose one that must have been a bargain buy, because I don't think I'd use it on it's own....it's big Paisleys and bright flowers...But I really liked the Blossoms after they had been stamped. I just stuck 2 small Blossoms onto the side of the large one. I cut the middle out then placed a circle of white card in the centre.........Onto which I stamped my beautiful lady...She is off the 'Milliner Misses' set. I coloured her with Copics and Spectrum Noir pens..

All that was needed to finish was my usual ribbon and bow, favourite corners and my sentiment.......which I, for some reason had trouble printing straight....that took me longer to do than anything else!!!

Thanks for looking and I'll see you soon......

Fanfare

Hello.
My card for today is using Fanfare from Avery Elle.
I stamped the large border stamp in different colours.
It was so easy to line up and stamps so crisp and clean.
Then i stamped the circle panel in the same colours before die cutting.
I added  the little bow and finished it with a small pearl.
Thanks for looking.

Thanks So Much

Hi, it’s Ruby!  Have you ever lost a stamp?  You know.. that one that’s your absolute favourite?  Well for my card today I am sooo happy to share a card using my favourite stamp from the Lawn Fawn Grand Greetings set.  It  honestly is my favourite sentiment, I love the funky writing.

I was rummaging (as you do) through my crafty supplies and came across this really old paper (I think it’s Bo Bunny) and thought how pretty it was, so I dug out my new (to me) Lawn Fawn Flutterby set and started playing.  I have wanted this set for ages, why oh why have I not bought it before, it is so much fun to use.

There are so many different combinations, yummy!  I coloured the two smaller leaves in the set that I attached to the top left, adding those adorable little flowers with pop dots and then coloured and pop dotted that fab butterfly on the right.  A bit of gem treatment to finish.  I think it’s a really happy card because of the colours.  I just love how paper can inspire you to use different colours, don’t you!

Copics used;
BG70, BG75, BG78, Y19, Y15, Y13, RV29, RV25, YG06, YG05, YG03, BG10

I think you might be seeing more of this set!

Have a great week!

Bright Reflections

Good Morning, Jenny here again so it must be the weekend :0)

My card today is inspired by a bright new bedding set I bought in the week.
I thought of Paper Smooches stamps the moment I saw it...does anyone else do that
when they're out shopping???

I started by matching up ink colours and pulling out my Paper Smooches Reflections stamp set
to make a patterned panel on Cream cardstock. I choose an area to die cut with
a square nestie and then used the 'next size up' square to make a thin frame.

The centre panel is raised up on foam inside the frame for a different look and
a simple banner sentiment made using the Salutations stamp set from Paper Smooches.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend :0)

A Mother's Love............

Hi there...........

It seems a long time since I played with my Unity stamps.....so I decided to make a Journal page and a Tag......

I used the lovely store kit 'A Mother's Love'.........
The page started with a gem of an idea using Distress Inks.....I coloured the background with some of my 'Pinker' shades and then used a thin brush and some water to take the colour out of elements of the background stamp....love this stamp........

I then coloured it with Cosmic Shimmer paints.....

I made this last Sunday...Mother's Day so I wanted to include the sentiment on the page.....I stamped the large flower three times, painted with Cosmic Shimmer...I cut the flowers into varying sizes and stuck the sentiment round them...........

Have to say I'm not 100% sure about this....but it is staying as it is in my Journal!!!!

The Tag has turned out exactly how I wanted it to.........
I painted a very thin wash of Cosmic Shimmer on the base of the Tag, sprayed it with water, heat dried and then added little 'splatters'..........

The background is stamped in Purple and clear embossed..

For the flowers I did a similar background, only using black for the stamping and then punching the flowers out.....

The sentiment is from a past Unity store kit....stamped with Versamark and then White embossing powder over the top...

I hope you like the couple of ideas to try and get the most of your stamps....

Thanks for looking and I'll see you soon........

  • BG15, BG13, BG11, BG10

Spring Greens!

Hellooooo!
Today I have made an almost  monochromatic card, using Paper Smooches A Magical Spring set, which at first glance may look like just a St Patrick's Day set,but you can use it in so many ways,it can be used throughout the year.
I have an awesome friend who is going through a tough spot at the moment, but she is not one for soppy sentiments,so this little greeny will be winging its way to her.

I used the rather handy W Plus 9 Clear Hearts Stacker to make the shamrocks, both the large and the small, inked the edges to add a little depth (and I cant seem to go past a project without inking it SOMEWHERE),coloured the leprechaun and his best mate birdie, and backed them on white so they didn't get lost, ran the main body of the card through swiss dots embossing folder-again to help differentiate the different areas of the monotone card, blinged the centers (well, you just have to don't you?!)and attached the smaller shamrock with a very fine gauge piece of wire. It sproinged around too much,so I had to anchor it down with a pop dot.

I hope you are having an awesome start to Spring (despite the random snow!)There are lots of lovely Spring inspired sets in the shop at the moment, with more on the way,so go check them out when you have a few moments :-)

One layout - two cards!

 Hi Everyone

It's Emily popping in again today.  I had my monthly crop day yesterday and had a huge card list to complete so I thought I would share a couple with you.

This first one is for my son's friend's birthday, he is turning eight so computer games seemed most appropriate.  Stamps used are from Paper Smooches Teen Routine and Little Fella, Paper is Lawn Fawn.

This one is a get well card for a member of my family who is in hospital at the moment, I used the same layout and paper as before but this time stamps from Paper Smooches Healthy Vibes stamp set (out of stock at the moment).

Thanks for visiting, I hope you are having a great weekend.
