January Challenge Week 1

Welcome back to our first challenge of 2015 - and with the start of a new year my thoughts turned to all that stuff we get over Christmas that just ends up in the bin - so I thought a fun theme for this month would be to recycle or use some household items we wouldn't normally think of using for crafting.....

So either take an item you were going to throw away and do something different with it (left over crackers, packaging, tinsel, chocolate wrappers - the possibilities are endless) or take an ordinary household item and use it to stamp with - here's just one example - a toilet roll inner tube makes a pretty background...   (you could try rolling a sweetcorn in ink or maybe even try stamping a leftover sprout!)

As usual, there is £15 worth or store vouchers for our favourite entry and you get 3 weeks to play along - the challenge closes at 10pm on Monday 26th January.   Here's our first 3 DT members with their take on it - the rest will be back for the following 2 Monday's with more ideas for you.

Tara
I recycled an empty pringle tube into a handy holder for my copic ink refills!  Find details of how on my personal blog here.

Sarah
I used some left over wrapping paper and a scrap of felt from one of the boys school Christmas projects.  Adhered to cardstock the wrapping paper works great for die cutting.

Jenny
Funnily enough I have used the very technique highlighted above and used two different sized cardboard tubes to print with and a length of string spiralled onto a cork to make my own stamp for the yellow circles.

Once you have your project ready - link it up on our challenges page here - http://makethedayspecialcards.blogspot.co.uk/p/challenges.html    Don't get too carried away with the theme - don't forget that you must use at least one item that we sell to be eligible for the prize!
