Balsa Florals

I've been dying to get my hands on some balsa wood thin enough to die cut so I can try the stamping techniques I've seen Debby Hughes try out recently and I finally managed to source some so am pleased to report I am now stocking it in the store too.  It's the first item in our "basic supplies" section - this will grow over the coming months so do let me know if there is anything else specific you would like me to consider.  [Edited - I made this card yesterday and the balsa and persian motifs went and sold out - now I'm out all day so don't have time to make a new card - both these oos items will be back just as soon as I can get them]

I started by die cutting a tag from the balsa using the Tag Stitched Die from Paper Smooches and stamping one of the flowers from Persian Motifs and embossing it in gold.  I coloured it with vintage photo distress marker and water to let the grain show through.

I used the Flourish stencil from Hero Arts  to create a soft background on my kraft base card with distress inks and then selectively inked spots of it to emboss in gold to match the tag.

I used the new sentiment set from Wplus9 to add a greeting - half on vellum on the base card and half on the tag itself.  I finished with a little coiled gold sparkle twine from Lawn Fawn - I won't lie I spent longer fussing about trying to get that how I wanted it than I did making the rest of the card!!!

If you've ordered the new Wplus9 release this weekend it will ship first thing Monday morning so not long til you get to play with it too!

Have a good week - I'll catch you on the flip side.

so very pretty - I like the stamping-on-wood-trend and wood in general

Tara, this is such a stunner - fabulous the way you've stenciled gold on kraft and how you've stamped the wood tag! You've definitely showcased these new items beautifully!
