This Awesome House

Today I've been having fun with the gorgeous new house stamp set from Winnie and Walter - This Awesome House and I wanted to show you something a little different and 3D with it which makes it into a fun little home decorating project.

I've created a Tea Light holder but PLEASE if you make yourself one ONLY BATTERY TEA LIGHTS not live flames - I don't want to be responsible for burning your real houses down!!!

This is the daylight version - if you look closely you can see the fake tea light inside, but it comes to life in the dark!

And here it is in all it's night time glory.  The light glows beautifully through all the little cut out windows!

It's very easy to do - all you need is one sheet of 12x12 card stock - draw a 6.5cm square in the centre (this is the width of the house) and then stamp the house one each of the edges of the square (the steps should be below the line of the square and won't be visible on the finished project.  Here's a work in progress shot which should make it easier to understand.

Then it is simply a case of colouring the houses in using whatever medium you prefer and then you need to get busy with an exacto knife.  Carefully cut out all the little windows, taking care to keep the frames in tact.  I like to work on one side at a time but you could do all the colouring and then all the cutting.   When it comes to assembly, you need to draw in tabs on two opposing houses (you can see the pencil lines on my w-i-p shot above) so that when you cut it out, you have something to fold to stick the sides together.   Cut around it with scissors or a knife and score around the centre square and tabs and fold it to bring it together using some strong double-stick tape on the tabs (make sure you don't make them too wide or they will obscure the windows on the side houses)  You will either need to cut off the bottom corners of the side roofs or cut slits into them to lock them together with the front and back.

On the finished project I added the ribbon banner from the set ad curved one of the images to fit it - you could add a Christmas sentiment from another set and then these houses would be great Christmas decorations!
