Winter in the Park

Hi There :)

Have you started to make or think about making your Christmas cards yet?? If you're anything like me you'll leave it to the last few weeks... yep, even though the stamp companies bring out all their new goodies this time of year I'm still in denial until the second week in December!!!

Well, amongst all the new Lawn Fawn release was a die set to match the Winter in the Park stamp set from last year so I thought I'd dust it off and make a couple of cards.....

For this card I repeatedly stamped a row of lamp posts.... they are easy to space if you use a gridded note book under your card and a gridded acrylic block. I stamped in Memento Tuxedo black as Versafine takes so long to dry and still can smear when applying the yellow ink over the images for the lanterns glow...... yep I found that out on version one!!!

I inked above the lights first going from lightest through to dark blue and then a touch of black. The yellow glow is applied very lightly to build up colour gradually although I did have a splodge moment on the far right hand-side..... I wasn't prepared to start again!!!

A few white pencil highlights bring a frosty feel to the lamp posts and I stamped the twinkling lights  in pigment ink after the background inking had been done. The string line is a little heavy in black.... I perhaps should have gone for second generation stamping for those or a grey ink ;)

To use the dies with this set I went for a retro monochromatic feel.....

The snowflakes are heat embossed within a masked off rectangle and then I sponged in two shades of red ink for an ombre sky. The images are stamped and die cut using the new die set... I did cut an extra slit at the back of the bench so you can see the lamp post through but that's because some details bother me like that ;) I fussy cut the tiny bow,  fiddly but worth it, and added glitter to the snow cap and ground.... simple and a bit different from your traditional Christmas card :)

It's actually a cracking little set which would work for other seasons too when used with other stamps and dies... after all park benches and lamp posts aren't just for Christmas!! :)

Thanks for stopping by :)
