Faux Textured Florals

Hello there :) .... I have a bright and colourful bouquet for you on my card today... perhaps a little unrealistic like those heavily enhanced photographs in plant and seed catalogues but cheerful nevertheless :) I have also used a great technique to give those solid florals and leaves a subtle texture too....

This is a technique I've seen many times and uses the properties of Versamark ink to repel dye ink.... I have satmped the MFT Linen background onto some white cardstock and allowed it to dry for a good 30 mins at least, before stamping the petals and leaves in dye ink over the dry Versamark ink. The linen pattern shows through as a subtle texture and the darker the ink the more obvious the pattern.

I have used Prismacolour pencils to add some shading, as long as you have a light touch the pattern should still show through.

I stamped these flowers over the period of a few days and the effect of the versamark showing through the ink seems to fade with time, as you can see on the blue and yellow flowers which have hardly any texture at all. It may also have something to do with a larger area showing more of the pattern and the amount of shading you add but I'm quite happy with the result :)

It's a great way to stretch those background stamps and give new life to your solid stamps too... have a flick through your stamps to see what ideas you can spark :)

Here are the products used:

Florals in pencil.

Hello.
I have two  cards to share today using flower stamps from Avery Elle.
I saw this pencil technique a few places and gave it a try and i love that its a different look to copics or watercolours.

I used the large bloom flower from Petals and stems for this card.
To start i stamped it in pixie ink and let dry.
I then used coloursoft pencils to colour over the ink.

I used the same technique with this flower from blossoms and blooms.
This time stamping in silver fox ink so that is shows on the coloured card.

Fresh hues

Hello.
Have you seen that the design team are all playing along with this fabulous colour pallet from Design-seeds.com
Tara has set up a linky on here blog post here if you would like to join in :)
*brushstrokes* | fresh hues

I absolutely love these colours together the graphic gave me so many ideas i could have made so many cards using them.
As it is i stopped at 3 lol.
All of my cards use stamps from Avery Elle ...Lots of which  are now in the shop ...snap em up quick if you haven't already the set i wanted sold out super quick :(

First card and i have used masking to make the panel. I used the circle stamp from Modern leaves and used the back and front of the stamp so some are patterned and others are plain. The flowers and leaves are from Petals and stems and stamped in pink and red i just wiped some of the red ink of before stamping directly over the pink.

Again using the same colours i used a small leaf from Modern leaves.
Kept this really CAS just adding some pink liquid pearls.

Less stamping on card 3.
I used washi tape in the same colours and used the sentiment and frame from framed fonts.
The sentiment was stamped in the colours they have shown up a lot paler than irl.
Hope your enjoying the colours we are using and we would love to see what you do with them.
Thanks for ,looking.

Oh Shoot

Happy Friday to all of you stampy-inky-paper-holics out there (and yes I do class myself as one of this awesome breed ;) hehe)

So it's Lydia here with you today here at Make The Day Special today and I can say truthfully that this is my most favourite place to get my stamps from.... I don't know anywhere in the UK that sells Avery Elle, Unity and my most favourite Wplus9!.... and Lou the owner is just the sweetest DT leader I know :)

Today I'm sharing with you a very CAS card......

As you can see I'm still obsessed with gold..... last month hated it ...this month I just can't get enough out the gorgeousness lushishness ..yum!

I have used two of the fab sets from Avery Elle... Oh Happy Day (sorry out of skock) and Petals and Stems . The flowers on this set would also work well on a scrapbook page as they are such a great size.....if it's still in stock in two weeks I'll do a layout to show how great they look as embellishments.

I really hope you all have a great weekend and see you next week with a card using the next pre-order at Make The Day Special...intrigued????

Hugs, Lydia xxxx
