Easy, No-Stress Coloring

Hey there, crafters! I know that a lot of you will be gearing up for christmas and Halloween, but I thought I'd bring you a non-holiday card today. After all, I know I get sick of all the holiday cards sooner or later, so let's mix it up a bit!

I am using one of my favorite whimsical stamp sets from Lil' Inkers called "Modern Mehndi". It's intricate enough that you can stamp it just by itself, but I love coloring it:

I choose colors that would be cold – like a crisp winter morning. You can use any coloring medium you like; I opted to go with my Copics, but by all means, grab your watercolors, pencils … whatever makes you happy. Coloring easy images like this where you don't have to worry about light sources and texture is so relaxing.

As you can see, the floral image is quite solid. I die cut the shape about four times from regular copic-friendly paper and glued the pieces together to end up with this embellishment. The leaves were stamped directly onto the card stock and the sentiment heat embossed.  I added a few gold dots here and there; they don't stand out on the kraft but shimmer nicely when you twist the card in natural light.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed the card and have a great weekend. Cheers!

Is It Spring Yet – Get a Head Start with Lil Inkers

Hello crafters, it's Julia!

And I have to make a confession: I want color. Rich, vibrant, stunning, glowing colors. Maybe it's because of the mostly grey winter weather here in Germany, but I'm craving color. Don't get me wrong, I love snow, but … color! I miss it! So, I'm taking my Stabilo fibre tip pens again for a spin and today I'm showing you just how vibrant a color blend you can get with them.

I've showcased these pens already last week here on the blog, using them on a tiny image. Today, I'm coloring an entire card panel with them and while, yes, it took a while, I find it's super relaxing after a long day at work. The stamp set I used it one of my favorites, yet underused ones from Lil' Inkers: Modern Mehndi.

Using water color paper and Archival black ink (anything that's permanent and works with water color, too), you can stamp your pattern and then start coloring. I went with warm and lively colors to brighten up my day and the day of the recipient of this card.

If you want to see how exactly I colored the images, hop on over to my blog for a video tutorial (you'll find the link in the sidebar) after checking out all the products I used below.  As always, I'm also listing alternative products if anything is out of stock currently or if I think another product would work with this technique as well.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!

Happy birthday to you.

Hello.
Today my card uses stamps from three of our companies....Lawn Fawn, Avery Elle and Lil inkers.
I rarely mix and match stamps from different brands but it can work :)
I started by masking an area ready for the sentiment.
I then stamped the flowers from lil inkers Modern mehndi in momento  and coloured with pro markers.
The i removed the masking paper and stamped the border from lawn fawns Belindas borders.
Then added the sentiment from Avery Elle's handwritten notes.

To finish i used lots of liquid pearls to accent the flowers and then some sequins.
Thanks for looking.

Special Guest

We have a special Guest Designer today - Michelle from The Card Grotto is a Lil Inkers fan so I asked her to do a guest spot to coincide with the release of new goodies which are in store today.  Michelle is using products from earlier releases - some of which are currently out of stock - but restocks were posted from the States on Friday so will be with us, along with lots more new goodies, in a couple of weeks.

Spot On

I have two cards to share with you today, the first uses the new Spot On stamp set along with the Stitched Stars dies.

Here is the video showing how I made it:

As you can see, I kept the stamping quite minimal using two stamps from the Spot On set. I then ran the panel through my Cuttlebug using the Stitched Stars dies but embossed these without cutting. I think they give an added texture and interest to the card. I then finished off with a few Sprinkles and mounted it to a Citrus Slice card base with foam tape.

My next card uses the Spot On stamp set as well but this time I used two of the spots to create a focal point. I took the solid circle image and stamped this in the top centre of a white cardstock panel with MFT Blu Raspberry Ink and then followed up with one of the patterned circles either side. I stamped the sentiment from the Modern Mehndi set below in black ink.

I then took a small heart die and cut this from the centre of the middle circle. The panel has been popped up with foam tape on to a Robins Egg card base adding a little white cardstock behind the heart for contrast. I then finished off the card by using the clear Wink Of Stella brush pen on the spots and added a small rhinestone in the centre of the heart.

I would like to say a big thank you to Tara and Make The Day Special for having me today. The new release from Lil' Inker Designs will be in the shop today :)

Thanks Michelle - we've loved having you!
