Hogs and Kisses

Hi everybody,

Jill here, and this week, I've got some cute piggy kisses for you...

Using the new awesome 'Hogs and Kisses' set from Avery Elle.

I, literally, fell in love with this set as soon as I saw it.  You get a pig, a cow, and a sheep, all holding hearts, with a choice of sentiments to pop in the middle of them - oh, and also two sweet little chickens.  Now I get that sounds a little weird, but they are just adorable - so if you haven't checked them out yet - you definately should!  In my world, weird is good!

So I started by stamping out my little piggy, twice, as I knew I wanted to build the heart up a layer, and coloured using Copics.  I then took a panel of card and die-cut it into sections using Lawn Fawn's Grassy Border, and the cloud from Mama Elephant's Landscape Trio, to build-up a little background scene.  I coloured the grass and the sky, again, using Copics.  I cut Lawn Fawn's Say Cheese die, and, using foam adhesive for dimension, added it around my little scene.

My background is the Sketched Chevron Background stamp from My Favourite Things, and is stamped outo white card using Hero Arts Soft Pool Shadow Ink.

I added a little banner of vellum which I had stamped the 'XO' from the Hogs and Kisses set onto, and added a couple of pink enamel hearts.  I added a twirl of Lawn Fawn's Pink Lemonade Twine behind my Polaroid scene, before adhering everthing in place, matting onto black card, and then onto a white card blank.

I really hope you like it, as always, everything is linked below.

See you next week.

Christmas Elf to a Birthday Pixie

Hi everybody,

Jill here, and today, I'm mixing up a brand new Christmas set...

By taking the cutest little Christmas elf out there, and changing her into the cutest little Birthday Pixie...

I have no doubt you are all in the same boat as me, whereby we want NEEEED all the newest sets as soon as they're released, but obviously we don't all have a bottomless pit of money, so sadly, we need to reason with ourselves make excuses on how we can justify our spends haha.  And, again, if you're anything like me, no time does this come more into play, than with the Christmas releases.  They're always awesome, always adorable, and always impossible to resist - but because you only use them once a year - it makes it all the more important to be able to stretch them.  So that's what I've hoped to do for you today.

I used Mama Elephant's 'Chrismtas Spirit' set, changing it up into a little 'Happy Birthday' scene.  I die-cut a panel of card into various pieces to create my scene, using Mama Elephant's Landscape Trio, and Lawn Fawn's Grassy Border, watercolour washed them, popped the pieces back together, and die-cut a circle from it.  I also die-cut a circle from my plain white background panel, and in-laid my scene back into it.  I then stamped out my little cute character and several presents from the 'Christmas Spirit' set, and a couple of balloons from Paper Smooches Hullabaloo set.  I then watercoloured and fussy cut them all and built up my scene using foam adhesive.  I then stamped out my sentiment from Mama Elephant's 'Woodland Gifts' set.  I added some black strings to my balloons, mounted onto black card to make my scene 'pop', and there you have it.

I hope this has gave you the excuse you need to get EVERYTHING you want haha - Go on, you deserve it - there's always other ways to stretch our sets :)

As always, everything is linked below, so be sure to have a peek in store.

See you next week.

Bring us some Figgy Pudding!!

Hello there :)

I'm all about pudding today... Christmas pudding !!!... with these fun pud shaped cards in two sizes.
I've used the Stitched Arch Dienamics Stax to make these with the smaller of the two being a great size for Christmas table place name cards.

I find it easier to cut two separate pieces to make the card and score the back piece towards the top and join them together with strong glue or tape. The brown spots are added using the MFT Confetti background stamp but any dot stamp would work just as well.

To make the custard, I cut another stitched arch in white and pale yellow and then used one of the Landscape trio cuts to make the wavy edge on the large pud and the Dripping Goo edge on the other.
Again, any scalloped edge die could work here too.

The holly is cut using the Paper Smooches Holly dies and although a plate would be easy to cut, I used one side of the largest frame from the MFT Square Frame dies... just a couple of snips at a 45° angle and you have a nice straight and even plate :)

I enjoyed making these so much I wanted to try a tag too using the Circle Tag die by Avery Elle which I cut in both cream and brown card.... the rest is pretty much the same as above on the cards.

I think these would be great cards for kids to make or assemble depending on their age and ability ... and if you don't want them near your inks and stamps you can use patterned papers or other materials to give the puds a bit of texture :)

Here are the products I've used but really you can substitute lots of others from the store or your own stash..

Paper Smooches Paper Piecing

Hi everybody,

Jill here with some pretty simple paper piecing for you...

I used Comforting Hugs from Paper Smooches newest release to make my card, and boy what a release it was!  And Lawn Fawn's Let's Polka Mon Amie, 6 x 6" paper pad.

This Comforting Hugs set is just so cuuute!  I am a hugger, and a hug lover, so it is perfect for me!  So many cute images, and sentiments that can fit so many occasions!  The gentle softness of the Let's Polka Mon Amie paper pad just seemed to match perfectly.

I stamped my image out onto a few different patterned papers from the same pad, fussy cut the various pieces, and adhered back in place.  I then cut my panels using Mama Elephant's Index Card Creative Card's Die, and my hill using Mama Elephant's Landscape Border Trio Die.  The Clouds are cut from plain white card  using Paper Smooches Curly Clouds Die, and the sun is from Lawn Fawn's Spring Shower's set.
My sentiment is from the same gorgeous 'Comforting Hugs' set, and is stamped in black and clear heat embossed on cream card.  I have embellished with a couple of enamel dots, matted onto kraft card, then the whole thing mounted onto a cream card base.  And there you have it, a really simple but, hopefully, cheerful, bright, and effective card.
As always, everything I have used is linked below.

One last thing before I go...did you notice my blunder?  Take a closer look...I stuck my sun on the wrong way round so the hearts are lying on their side!  DOH!  What a dafty.  Never mind, I'm sure we've all been there!  10 points to whoever spotted it :)

See you next week.

A friendly natter

Hi everybody,

Well, after the mid-week excitement of our 'Surprise' blog hop, it's a pleasure to see you all again so soon!  And I'm going to keep the fun, friend feels going with this weeks offering...

I used Wplus9's 'Going Places' stamp and matching die set to create this week's card.

The set comes with a little cute hot air balloon, and all the little critters sit in the basket and look awesome, but I wanted to see what else I could do with them, so dreamt up this little, 'neighbours chatting across the garden fence' scene.

Everything on my card is coloured using Distress Ink as watercolour.  I used Mama Elephant's 'Landscape Trio' cloud die to create my hedges, and Lawn Fawn's 'Picket Fence Border' die as, well, obviously, my picket fence!  The sun is from Lawn Fawn's 'Spring Showers' set, and the sentiment, which is stamped onto vellum and attached using 'Stick-It', is from Mama Elephant's 'Sunday Sentiments' set.

You are, literally, spoilt for choice with the amount of cuteness to choose from in the 'Going Places' set, all as adorable as each other.  As you can see, I couldn't choose, so didn't...and just went with them all haha.  I only wish I knew what they were chatting about :)

I really hope you like it.  As always, everything I used is linked below so be sure to go have a look and see what world you want to create!

See you next week.
