Tie one on

Well it certainly seems as if you all like our new brand Winnie and Walter as more than half of the entire stock I bought sold out within 48 hours - the Big and Bold sentiments were particularly popular and I have re-ordered them along with their new release which is a big secret for now but do check out their blog as you'll love it when you see it!

As I've been very busy getting all your orders in the post, I haven't had time to make a new card for today's post, so I am sharing one I made a few months back which I couldn't blog before as it is appearing in this month's Craft Stamper magazine.  (You all know that our very own Jenny and Lydia are designers for this magazine don't you?   We have such a super talented bunch, Keren is a designer for Crafts Beautiful too!)

I entered a call on the Craft Stamper blog for masculine monochrome cards and instantly reached for my all time favourite Wplus9 set Fish More to create this.

This card is simplicity itself - I die cut the lures from white card and stamped the various designs onto them in grey ink and arranged them in a pattern on a square base card leaving a little room for my sentiment and "stand out" fish.   The sentiment was heat embossed in white directly onto the base (make sure you use an embossing buddy first as white on black can be tricky and you don't want any stray powder spoiling your final design) along with the fishing line and hook.   Then I chose the one lure in the set which "swims" the opposite direction and feature him on the hook.

I bought this set when it first came out as my Dad was a keen fisherman and so the sentiments rang so true for me (he really did Eat, Sleep, Fish!) but this is a really useful set for those tricky masculine cards and with Father's Day just around the corner next month, I got a few back in stock so both the stamps and dies are currently available again.

Hope you all get some crafty time over this bank holiday weekend - don't forget to enter our new competition if you do ;-)

Wiggle It!

Good morning all - I'm feeling in a masculine mood today - I think it must be all the Dr Who we were forced to enjoyed watching yesterday.....

So I've been playing with my favourite masculine stamp set Fish More and the companion die set.

I went for a faux embossing look by lining all the die cuts up across the card in rows and then added colour by stamping on top in a variety of blue and green inks.  Trimming off any die cuts that overhang the edges of the card.  For the sentiment I used a strip of vellum and embossed it with an opaque blue powder.  I also embossed the hook in silver before adding the fishing line both on and off the vellum with versafine.  There wasn't anywhere really to "hide" adhesive behind the vellum, but wackytac tape is pretty much invisible (I have a strip the whole way across) so that's a really handy addition to your craft stock if you want to use vellum and aren't handy with a sewing machine ;-)

Have a great week - I'll catch you next time.
