On the Angle!!

Good Morning Crafters :0)

Jenny here and I'm popping by with a card I've made using Paper Smooches stamps.

I've noticed that having elements across your card on the diagonal seems to be popular in
crafting at the moment so being one to usually trail behind the
bandwagon, I thought I'd jump on it instead!!

My inspiration for this card is the photo at the Paper Smooches Sparks challenge blog
...  the colours and patterns just called to me :0)
Have you played along in their weekly challenges??

I decided on a sewing and fabric theme... the dotty strip is a border from 'Geo-graphic' embossed
on blue card to look like ribbon across the corner of the card. The flowers and leaves are
from 'Needle Little Love' embossed in white with a stitch made across the centre of each and
the panel was de-bossed using a piece of hessian by running them through my Bigshot together...
I think it looks similar to Aida fabric :0)

As always I don't have gems to match the deep turquoise colour but I do have a
bottle of Adirondack Pearlised Acrylic paint that does so after some practice runs on
scrap paper I carefully made my own faux gems :0)

I really love the colours together and who knew that cream and white
sit happily side by side too!!!

Just before I go...
.... did you see that we are having a design team call at Make the Day Special???
If you would like to join a bunch of friendly, crafty ladies (I'm bias of course)
pop over to the Facebook page to find out more details here :0)

Thanks for stopping by

Bee mine

Hello.
I have been making a start on valentines cards.
And couldn't resist inking up this bee from Bee mine by paper smooches.
I stamped the bee onto yellow card and coloured the eyes and wings with a white pen.
Then stamped the wings onto tracing paper and stuck them onto the bee.
The background was made using Geographic.
I made the scalloped card base using nesties.
Thanks for looking.

Mini Making With Colour & Pattern

I'm eagerly anticipating the start of Shimelle's Learn Something New Every Day at the weekend.I've taken part in this annual class many times and there is something wonderfully about revisiting an old favourite. One lesson that I have learnt the hard way though, is that if I don't prepare for the class, I never finish my album!

Using August's Counterfeit Kit has made it fairly easy to get started. I cut down a lot of cardstock and patterned papers to 3 x 5 inches, 'chomped' all of the corners and punched a hole in one end of each piece. To start making the base album feel a little bit more 'lived in', I've decorated the front using a little spritz of Mister Huey's Calico Shine; added a patterned paper effect with the camera stamp from Lawn Fawn's Say Cheese Too; and added a title with some Sassafras Alphas.

Inside the album, I've started to add some additional pattern with the chevron stamp from Papersmooches Geographic - it stamps wonderfully and, because it's a clear stamp, it's so easy to build up the pattern to create a fuller effect - and some extra embellishment with some of the smaller stamps from Papersmooches Teen Routine.

It's shaping up to be a fun album, full of colour and pattern - which is one reason why I love mini-albums, they really give you a chance to experiment with new ideas, products and techniques. Looks like I've started learning already!

Is anyone else planning on taking part this year? Have you done your preparation? Please let me know so that I can come and take a look. You see the best thing about starting class, is all the new friends!

Have good week! Clair x
