Happy Robots

Hello there, crafters! I was lucky enough to get my hands on one of the new stamp sets by My Favorite Things called "Bionic Robots". I love gadgets and technology and these robots are so cute, they immediately found a place in my heart.

Even though robots are most often associated with high technology, I wanted to create a playful and happy card. That's why my coloring doesn't have any of the grays or maybe blues that you would usually associate with a robot.

As a coloring medium I used my Stabilo pens. I know that you have seen me use these pens so far to achieve a very intense coloring, but you can use them perfectly as a watercolor medium.

I simply scribbled the color onto an acrylic block (you can use any piece of plastic or acetate as well) and then picked it up with a damp watercolor brush. I worked in multiple layers to slowly build up the color because I wanted to be sure to have proper highlights on my robot. I also found that the Stabilo pens, when used as a watercolor, can give very smooth and perfect blending.

The balloons are from a Wplus9  stamp set and I stem them repeatedly, with some masking. I started coloring them with the lightest color and then it dropped in the darker colors to achieve some shading. As with all watercolors, remember to not work in adjacent areas when the first area is still wet. You risk one color bleeding into the other one.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a very happy day!

Unforgettable Coloring and a Glittery Hello

Hi crafters, Julia here! I know that a lot of you have the "Unforgettable" set by Wplus9 and and since it's back in stock at the Store, I wanted to play with it.

I started out by stamping the little elephant onto some white card stock. Then I grabbed my Prismacolor pencils and started to create my background. You can do this with any medium you like: Copic markers, watercolor, you name it. Whatever feels good to you, go for it!

For the front panel, I die cut it with the Wplus9 Sunshine Layers dies and then also die cut a circle through which my elephant would peak. Any shape would work, but I am currently stuck on my circle shapes so you will probably see more of them in the future. Sorry ;)

I also used the Hello die by Wplus9 for the sentiment and die cut it into the top layer of my front panel. The front panel is actually two layers of white card stock. They are adhered together by using a sticky sheet and before I adhered them together, I poured some Micro Fine Glitter onto the sticky sheet so it would shimmer through the word that I die cut from the top layer.

Then it was just a matter of mounting the front panel onto the card base with some foam tape. I finished up the card by adding some enamel dots and some rhinestones for sparkle.

I hope you enjoyed the card. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment, you brighten my day!

Party Time for Elephants

It's Reverse Confetti release day and we managed to get the new goodies here in time to release alongside the US release date - yee-hah!    So I had to use some of the new goodies for my card today but I also couldn't resist using the gorgeous little elephant from Wplus9's Unforgettable stamp set before it goes out of stock again!   We doubled our order on the restock but it is flying out the door again already so be quick if you want one!

The new folded tag sentiment blocks which are designed to fit on the matching dies to make super cute little gift cards screamed ABC blocks to me so I decided to use 3 to make something for my elephant to sit on.  I stamped them with mint julep ink and cut them with part of the die and popped them up on foam tape.  The elephant and balloon were coloured with alcohol markers and fussy cut and popped up on foam tape too.   The top of the card was decorated with birthday banners using the new die also from Reverse Confetti - double banner - which I cut from white and patterned paper from the Beachside pad from Lawn Fawn.  One cool blue tall tone one tone card - hope you like it!
