Stitching Borders

Hello.
Today i wanted to focus on the stitched border dies from lawn fawn
These are so versatile and don't have to be just a border.

For my first card i used the die twice both horizontally and vertically to make the design.
I then just filled the blank areas with some lawn fawn patterned papers and the die cut sentiment.

This card as very simple to do with the die used twice parallel to to each other i then masked the bottom section and coloured and stamped the top part with distress ink and blissful botanical stamp set.
I then used the quinns abc dies for the sentiment and used the same ink underneath.

Similar to the top card but this time i used a different one of the dies and ink to colour the blank spaces.
and kept the background of the die cut white for contrast.

Pastel Birthday Card

Hello crafty friends! Since I'm usually all over the place with different stamps and dies on one single card, I challenged myself to only use one set for this card .

I am using the Wplus9 Papel Picado stamps and dies. At first glance, it might not be immediately clear how to use them best. But I found that they work especially well then used with good color combinations or as a background.

This card is a birthday card for a guy, so I stayed away from everything that sparkles or could be considered female colors. And the blue with the light orange and yellow has a wonderful retro feel that I like.

The only indulgence that I allowed myself on this card was the pattern paper that peeks out behind the front of the card.

Have a wonderful weekend, and thanks for stopping by or leaving a comment!

Hammy birthday to you

 Hello.
Today i have made two very different cards using the Lawn Fawn Wheelie like you set.

Firstly this shaker birthday card.
Its my daughters birthday tomorrow and she has a hamster and has been after me to make something with this set so "Edward" her hamster is my inspiration.

I dies cut and stamped 12 hamsters to fill the shaker. i coloured them random colours so that the one on the wheel stood out more.

Next up a much simpler hamster card.
I used distress inks on my card base then used the Gingham backdrop stamp just spritzed with water it gives a very subtle effect.
I have coloured the hamster with copics to look like "Edward".

Sketchy Roses

Hello.
If you're waiting for Altenew i thought i would show you an older set Sketchy Roses.
This set has the beautiful large rose stamp and some extra leave stems and petals and is currently on sale.
Normally i would colour with copics or maybe watercolours but if your not confident colouring paper  piecing is the answer.
I stamped the rose and the stem onto some paper from Lawn Fawn lets polka mon amie papers in pink and green.
After fussy cutting i added some basic shading with copics.
There are lots of options with this technique and you can go simple like i have or more elaborate and add lots of layers or bold patterns.

Letting The Cat Out Of The Bag

Hi there, Lydia here. I know it's not my usual day but I have some exciting news to share ...... I am now part of the design team over at Newton's Nook Designs ! :-D I have been sitting on the news for weeks and it's been hard not to let it slip but I did it.... just about.

To celebrate this exciting news I have made a card using Newton's Nook Designs ' Newton's Birthday Bash' and if you keep reading to the end there may be a little Blog Candy ;)

*Cut some Neenah Solar card using the small banner from Lawn Fawn 'Stitched Party Banners' onto this stamp Newton coming out of the bag and the sentiment from Newton's Nook 'Newton's Birthday Bash'.
*Colour the image in with Copics adding a little shadow with coloured pencils and add a little Wink Of Stella to the bag for a little sparkle.
*Cut out two of the large banners from the 'Stitched Party Banners' of of white card and another using the yellow heart paper from the 'Let's Polka' 6x6 paper pad. Stick the yellow paper banner onto one of the white banners to create the front of the card. Score a line across the second white banner about an inch down from the top, add glue to the inch flap and stick to the backside of the yellow heart/white banner piece.
*To finish add some gold gel pen accents and some grey striped ribbon to the pre cut banner holes.

I really love how bright and happy this card is. And the image was just so much fun to colour!

Now time for a bit of blog candy!!!! The fabulous and very generous Tara  has given me a Newton's Nook Designs 'Newton's Birthday Bash' stamp set to give away to one of you lovely people. All you have to do is leave me a comment over on my blog HERE .... maybe even tell me how good you are about keeping secrets and I will choose and random commenter next Wednesday at 12.00pm BST (British Summer Time) to win the set :)

New, new and more newy newness!

Well - have we got some new goodies for you this weekend or what!   The following have all been loaded in the store this weekend:

  • Lawn Fawn - latest release and restocks including the polka paper pad
  • Papersmooches - latest release and restocks
  • Neat and Tangled - SEQUINS (yeah!) and the latest release of stamps (the hope stamps is backordered)
  • Newton's Nook - the last couple of releases PLUS all the Christmas stamps that have been oos for ages!
  • Avery Elle - new release, restocks and storage panels!
  • Wplus9 - ALL the floral sets are back in stock as is hand letter hello!
  • and last but no means least - Lil Inkers - restocks where they had any left plus some more stuff I didn't get first time around.  They didn't have huge stocks but I will be ordering again soon.
Phew - that's quite a lot!

If you made a pre-order for Lawn Fawn, then that shipped yesterday so should be with you very soon.

I managed to play with some of it - which I'll show you below (assuming any of you are still reading that is "wink")

For this simple thank you card I used the new scripty thanks die from the new Lawn Fawn release with their polka paper - quick, simple but effective and fun.

Then I couldn't resist playing with Avery Elle - LOVE these giant balloons.  Simply cut a bit of one with the matching die so it could drift up the card before stamping them slightly overlapping, adding the strings and finishing with a wink of stella for shimmer.

Finally, I made a card using probably my most favourite thing from the whole release - the new cover-up die plates from Lil Inkers - swoon...     This is the swirl version.    I cut it twice, once from 300sgm white card and then once from DP that I covered with easy lift tape BEFORE cutting it out - that way you can easily piece the little pieces into the white and the thick card gives you a flat surface when you've finished.   The sentiment uses another gorgeous new Avery Elle set - So Happy.
