A Little Love!

Toot toot! It's Tuesday!
As so many of us are doing unseasonal Christmas crafting at the moment- I'd thought I'd get in early with Valentines Day! (joking!)

I decided to use this lovely set- which is perfect for anyone needing a little love
It also has these matching dies
Now the set is ridiculously cheap at £9-& at £4.50 for the dies, Lou is practically giving them away. I'm not normally one for matching dies, as I love fussy cutting, but I couldn't have achieved the background cut away part behind the cupid without it. It gives depth to the design & is worth the extra few pennies.

Well, time marches on, at this rate we'll be doing Easter next.

See you next week!

Bunch of Chocolate Lollipops!

Good afternoon. I'm a little tawdry today- please overlook it! I have, for your delectation the next best thing to flowers. I am a lover of flowers- but if I was going to give someone a thankyou gift, I'd like it to last a little longer than 3-4 days and being edible would be far better. But none of these plasticky or sticky efforts- a good plain chocolate lollipop if you please.
Anyhow, back to the stamp sets
and

and
the other set is OOS (out of stock). Still, it makes a cheerful card. Love how you can combine sets to make a card with a difference. This card took 15 minutes tops. A real speedy effort!

Well better go- school uniform won't iron itself!
See you next Tuesday

Summer Burst!

Morning! I'm squeezing every last bit out of summer because it looks like it might be disappearing fast! In the strange thing that is my mind, I wanted to create a Christmas bauble with one of the cookies in the set. Sadly it wasn't quite the right shape. but I'm still working on that one! So, instead I've eschewed the biscuits & gone for summer bursting out of the bottle- using the drink 'line' stamp to act as movement or 'burst'. I've stamped the bottle in acetate & coloured the drink and fruit with Copics. Here's the set
This is such a versatile set- there's a few left- but don't all rush at once- leave a few for the late-comers!
 Will catch you next Tuesday-

Love, Keren x

Sweet Letters

Hi again! It's a trendy Tuesday! Just incorporating some of the current paper crafting trends; ombré and sequins. I've used 2 small stamps from this set

and by just masking using post-it notes created a much larger focal point that I've simply coloured in with Copics and added some glitter to finish. I thought I'd use up some cream cardstock but I'm struggling to make friends with vanilla. Vanilla should be saved for an ice cream cone. I'm returning to white for next week. The brief dalliance with off white was exactly that; brief!
I'm going back to stroke my white cardstock and leave that colour for all of you talented artsy and vintage crafters. Lessons on 'creating with cream' gladly accepted!

See you next week with some dazzling white!

All Boy!

Hey! How did Tuesday come around so quick? Today's card is a quick and slightly mad boys card.  I've mixed up a couple of stamp sets
This beauty

which is an utter bargain- but you'll have to go and check out the price by clicking (making you work today!)
The pocket tag was made by stamping first roughly to give the impression of texture & then coloured over with Copics which added a bit of depth of colour. I then cut it out leaving tabs around the edges of the stamps & folded these back so it's actually a pocket. I've combined it with the stars & sentiment from Mr Boy

I hope you're all loving the pre-order facility. The W Plus 9 preorder is here and is shutting very soon-shuts today (Tuesday 11th in fact)  jump in quick. I have my eye on one or two sets.

Better go- I don't want to miss the preorder ;-)

See you next time,

Awesome Chemistry

Hello everyone!  I would love to say a big happy hello from sunny Scotland but… it’s freezing today!  And we’ve even had some sleet and snow!   It’s Tracy here from Bluedaisy Designs and I’m delighted to be a new member of the design team here at Make the DaySpecial!

Two things inspired me to make this card.  The first is my all consuming addiction to Paper Smooches stamps!  And the second… hexagons, hexagons, hexagons!!  I just love them!  But I don’t enjoy cutting so when I saw this amazing die from W Plus 9 I just had to have it! The set is called Quilt Cuts 1 and it’s made up of three dies.  Not only do you get the hexagon shapes, you also get the outlines – this one is like a honeycomb!
The mad, quirky and very enigmatic little scientist is from Paper Smooches Great Chemistry.  This is a gorgeous set with lots of little extras, like the bubbles!

I’ve used Pro Markers to colour him, and then just layered him up to make him stand out – although I think he does that well enough himself!

I hope you like my card for today. Why don’t you pop on over to the shop and see all the gorgeous goodies!  Thanks for looking, have a wonderful day and see you again soon!

I Whaley Like You!

Ahoy there!
Well, snow isn't quite what I was expecting this close to Spring :-/
Today's card is made with one of my favourite sets from my favourite companies, although with this weather, maybe I should have used the penguin instead of the whale!
I have some new Washi tape and immediately thought of this set I had lurking and started thinking nautical thoughts.
I started by wrapping three sets of Washi,in the colours I wanted to stamp the card in,keeping in nautical with blues and reds, and a bit of mustard (can't beat a bit of mustard ;-)) Then,I used the awesomely useful rounded rectangle stacker dies to cut out a frame, stamping the Bitty Buddies frame onto it (it fits pretty much perfectly-score!) I used the Avery Elle Fanfare set to make some waves for the whale, and fussy cut them. I stamped the gorgeous little whale and his water jet onto a piece of card, used the smallest rounded rectangle die for my sentiment and added another heart underneath. I used Stickles on the hearts, then when they were dry,put a bit of Glossy Accents to make the super shiny. After framing the whale and adding the sentiment,I put pop dots on the frame to make it stand out from the Washi background and added two little rope bows from the Lawn Fawn Triple Twine set which complimented and completed the look. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Bitty Buddy set,it's so versatile and not just for Valentines Day. It has matching dies too (always a bonus).
I hope you like it,it was made with a very special person in mind  :-)

Love Letters

Hello!
I have found myself in a vintage mood lately. I think it has something to do with the book I have just finished reading, set during the First World War. It focused on the lifeline that mail can provide, and enabled a budding romance to blossom across the miles and war zone into a deep and lasting relationship. The young lady in the book kept all her beloved correspondence tied with a red string, and she read the lot every valentines day. It was beautiful, and I wanted to replicate it as a Valentines card. So I reached for a script stamp,my trusty W Plus 9 A Pocketful:Valentine stamp set and dies and came up with this...I hope you like it. (And hey! It could even be suitable as one of those tricky masculine cards! Whoop whoop!)

Fishtails and True Love anyone...?

Hello!
Brrrr, are you enjoying the snow? Good excuse for a sit down with some hot chocolate and some stamps if you ask me ;-)

Today's cards are made using two of my favorite craft items-the awesome Avery Elle set Lots of Love and fishtails!
The first card is a veritable washing line of love, using just three colours and mixing up different fishtail sizes. This was so pleasing to make! (The purists among you might spot that the very end 'flag' is a W Plus 9 sentiment-more about that later!)

The next card is a tiny card announcing a whole lotta love!
Combining trendy chevrons and double fishtails,it is a perfect masculine card. I used pop-dots on the banner and heart,to stop it from feeling too flat. It reminds me a little of one of those retro American gas pumps :-)

And now for a 'Must Have 2013'announcement. As most people that know me know I have the biggest W Plus 9 ,er,habit *ahem!*,so to justify this I feel the need to say I have used my Cupid's Arrow set SO many times since I got it. Last weeks card was made with it,and several swaps I take part in have had their fair share of ol' Cupid and his sentiments, but the one that I have used over and over is the 'True Love' stamp. It is small but perfectly formed and used to within an inch of its polymer life! Here are a few of the places it has found itself (along with its cousins) on,including the endy banner in today's card ;-)

On vintage seam-binding...

And on a ticket swap....

It is also on several WIP's,and so I have to say it has been one of my best purchases so far in 2013 (and embarrassingly there have been quite a few already :-\ ) It is available here. (I've been kind and left you some, lol)

Right, that is me for this week-stay warm!
Lou

Draw back your bow!

It is nearly here! Love is in the air :-)
Todays card is a layered vintage homage to the angel of love, using the ever awesome W plus 9.
On a kraft card I adhered a wide piece of burlap ribbon, framed by scalloped edges of newspaper. A piece of pink cardstock fishtail was the next layer, and onto that a valentines rosette from The Cats Pajamas, lightly dusted with pink, another rosette of newspaper and script washi tape sits in the first rosette (it's a cake of rosettes!)I cut and stamped cupid from Wplus9 Cupid's Arrow sets on some left over Ikea music wrapping paper, and cut some arrows from the die set in glitter paper. I used the W Plus 9 All Occasions die set to cut two labels, one in newspaper one in pink cardstock and stamped the sentiment on the pink. Then just to round things up,I added two stickpins and a bit of washi tape. I hope you like it!

Berry Nice!

Good afternoon! Well I am fashionably late once more-what a terrible start to my guesting. I blame ipad and illness :-/
I am showing one of my absolute favourite stamp companies in this weeks spot-Wplus9. I could eat their stamps and dies they are so yummy (but that would be a terrible waste,so I wont!)
This is using a combination of the Fresh Preserves set and also Fresh Picked,on a plain Manilla tag, with lots of embellies :-) I LOVE making tags, they are so much fun and you can try out several stamps and layer them up. I hope you like it,Lou x
