Wplus9 Newness

Sorry today's post is very late but I've been busy loading all the new Wplus9 goodies that arrived yesterday into the store.  Unfortunately the box was badly damaged in transit so it's taken a long time to go through to stock and sort out the damaged goods from the ones that are in saleable condition.  This means that on some of the items stock levels are considerably lower than anticipated so I apologise in advance if you can't get the sets you want but I have already been in contact with Wplus9 for replacements on both new and older stock items that were damaged.

The first set I wanted to demonstrate to you all is the gorgeous new "Spring Florals" set which I think is just scrummy so I've used it to make a fresh floral and feminine card for my friends birthday.

This set is slightly different to fresh cut florals and more fresh cuts in that the stamps don't have layers to build up but you can still achieve amazing results.  To get a layered look to the flowers which are solid stamps I used a double inking technique.  (sorry but I used the currently out of stock Avery Elle inks on this project - I have an order in with Avery Elle for replacements but they are waiting for stock themselves and anticipate it will be arrive in early May so I guess it will arrive here in early June given the shipping times)  Simply stamp your flower in your base colour (the palest shade) and then using a dabber add shades of ink to your stamp and over stamp again.  I think the picture below might give you more of an idea what I mean.

I finished the card with sentiments from the equally gorgeous new "Hand Lettered Hello" set.  I double stamped the hello with grey and black to give a subtle shadow effect.

I made a second project today with the much anticipated arrival of the limited edition re-release of the "So 80s" stamp set.  Dawn at Wplus9 has received so many requests for this set since she discontinued it last year that she has brought it back as a limited edition - I did grab a lot but unfortunately several were damaged in the box so I am hoping to get them replaced - however as this is limited, once they're gone I may well not be able to get them back (I actually used one of the damaged sets myself so as not to take ones you might want!)

I love the 80s - I am a child of that decade - so I channelled my inner 12 year old and went neon crazy with the splats and stars and arrows using Hero Arts neon inks and a little black for extra 80s boldness.  I paired this set with the new Epic Dad set but in this instance I just used the dies to cut out the word epic and added some stars and the arrows from the stamp set.  I added a few black splats from the very useful ink splats set too - I just selected the smaller ones from one the larger splats and selectively inked them for variety.

Wow - super long post - thanks for sticking with it.   Hope you're all having a lovely Easter.

Bright House!

Hi Everyone!  This lovely bright sunny and warm weather inspired me to make a nice bright card!  A new style for me - this card has an acetate front to give a two layer and 3D effect.  Fun to make! I love these stamps from Paper Smooches - they are so fun to colour with alcohol pens! I added some glossy accents to the colourful house and the red car - just to make them pop!

Here are the links to the goodies I used!
It goes without saying my love for all things "Paper Smooches" continues!
I also used some Lawn Fawn papers.  Pop over and check out all the lovely sets currently available!

Hope you all have a lovely holiday weekend!

Bright Cheers!

Hello and Happy Good Friday to you all. Today it's my day to post over on the Make The Day Special Blog. I'm sharing with you a pretty bright card using Avery Elles 'Cheers' stamp set.

For the sentiment panel I used the bleed technique that Jennifer McGuire did HERE by inking up my stamp using three different Distress Inks (Peacock Feathers, Spiced Marmalade and Picked Raspberry). I then dropped water sploches over it, waited for it to dry and then over stamped it using Archival Black ink.

For the background panel I have used Distress Inks in Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade and Picked Raspberry. I used the mini blending tools like Jennifer McGuire did HERE. I then added some water drops to it to add some texture.

I then wanted to add a bit more of a bubbly texture to the background so I took the Falling Snow Stencil from Simon Says Stamp but placed it so the bubbles were 'falling' to the right. I used clear embossing paste just to add the bubbly effect.

Thank you so much for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Hugs Lydia xxx

Throwback Thursday

Hello!
Welcome back to another Throwback Thursday :-)
Ok,so this set I used today (LOOOOVE this set) isn't a huge Throwback like last weeks, but a few of you might not have been introduced to the gorgeous Avery Elle Papel Picado Banners yet,so here you are :-)

Sooo pretty! I stamped the blobby line (for want of a better word) onto the background in random areas and embossed it in white. Then I stamped all the flags in a similar colour to the kraft card to give a bit of depth. The fore flags are all stamped onto similar coloured card and cut using the matching die. These were machine sewed on then the whole thing was mounted onto black cardstock and the sentiment stamped and heat embossed. I also heat embossed the little flourish in black, just 'coz ;-)
Here's a closer look

Hope you enjoyed todays Throwback,
Lou x

Just a note

Hello.
I have a simple note card for today using Lawn fawn stamps and papers.
I used Check this out Milos abc stamp sets and Into the woods papers and Quinns abc dies.
I cut the paper to the size of my card base then made an off set panel with white card and stamped the library  card in black.
Then die cut the letters from the panel and another set from patterned paper.
One they were all stuck in place i stamped the sentiment using milos abc in orange and added glossy accents.
Thanks for looking.

'SugarPea' Washing!

Hey!
Isn't it the perfect day to go and do loads of washing?! Before you splutter your tea out, I'm not a fan of washing either but this set nearly makes me want to get the machine going!
This is the set from one of our lovely new companies; SugarPea Designs

It's a larger set & there's tons of scope with this collection. You can see I've just used parts of the washing line
I've simply cut out a slightly larger shape after tracing around the outside of the stamp. I've added the line and hearts with a black gel pen & cut the sentiment stamp in half to give me more flexibility with the set. There's tons you can do with this..I'd love to see how you create with the set.
Don't forget about our challenge
You've until the 23rd April to link up any card with a set found in the Make The Day Special store & there's a fab prize of £15 store credit. We'd love to see you joining in!

Righto- better go and get some new sets inky!

See you next week,
