Prickly Birthday Wishes!!

Good morning, what a gorgeous weekend we had.... hope you did too :0)
Not the best weather to craft in... much better to be out enjoying the sun just like the prickly little characters on my card today!!!

Have you seen these cute cacti in the new Paper Smooches set called Southwestern Charm??  Not only are they great for making a landscape or scene but they make great houseplants too, ideal for housewarming/new home cards or even a birthday card for the Mother in Law.... *wink* !!!!
After a quick search through my Paper Smooches sets I found two suitable containers..... the base of the sewing machine and the thimble from Needle Little Love :0)

These guys (or gals) are so much fun to colour and I just had to add that smiley face and some prickles too. I went with a good old general 'Happy Birthday' this time from Birthday Sampler  but I'm sure you could think of some funny puns to use alongside the cacti and print them out on a computer of use Lawn Fawn alphabets to spell them out!!

Super Hero

Did you see on Facebook that we received the latest couple of releases from SugarPea Designs yesterday?  There are lots of great new characters to choose from, but as my husband works in a Comic shop then I had to go for this little dude first (complete with accurate colouring on his Flash t-shirt or I would never hear the end of it......)

Isn't he fun!   He was coloured with copics and cut out so I could mount him over the panel of buildings which is a sheet of DP from "man made" by Trimcraft that I cut a skyline from.  A little blue washed sky and an embossed sentiment for him to stand on like a girder finish this simple card.  The sentiment made up from the words in the set - there are lots of separate words and phrases so there are endless possibilities with this one!

Hope you're all enjoying some sunshine this weekend - it's been fabulous here in Sheffield.

A Pocketful of Thanks!

Hi!

I could hardly contain myself when I saw these gorgeous Paper Smooches goodies!  You know I just love Paper Smooches dies and stamps so when I saw Denim and Daisies I was over the moon!  The fact there are matching dies is even better and the number of combinations with these little flowers are amazing - I love the "Mary Quant-like" flower!   The quality of the cut you get with PS Wise Dies is so clean and reliable. The white background is Retro Arrows.

Here are the sets I've used today.  Hope you have a lovely weekend whatever you're up to!

Amazing Friend

Good Afternoon. I'm so sorry for the extremely late post, just back off holiday this morning and I feel a little jet-laggy but I have managed to whip something up to share with you today.

I have used a great mix of different manufactures to create todays card.....

I have used a Memory Box die to create the partly cut-away background- to keep these random pieces ii place I have used sticky tape behind them. I have used gold washi tape on the base card which then peeps through.

The beauitiful florals are from Wplus9's Spring Blooms- I stamped these on to stamping card using HA shadow inks and then added a little shading and depth with Copic Markers. Once finished I fussy cut these out to add to my card.

For the sentiment I cut out multipuls of the 'Friend Die' from Paper Smooches- for the top layer I stuck down a couple of pieces of black washi tape onto a white piece of card before die-cutting. The added 'amazing' is from Winnie & Walter's 'The Big, The Bold and You'( sorry currently OOS).

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Throwback Thursday

Hello hello!

The nearly weekend is looming beautifully close-and a welcome comeback to the sun! Please last til the weekend!
Ok,so there has been much watercolouring on the blog this week-have you tried out some of the techniques? My card today is very simple, and uses a form of 'watercolouring' on vellum. Nearly impossible with actual watercolours to get a nice strong colour, but you can do it with alcohol inks :-)

So I used the Paper Smooches Crystal Clear stamps, the Crystal Clear 2 die and for the sentiment at the top I used one on Paper Smooches Vegtastic (another awesome set!) To get the watercolour effect,I put a tiny drop of aqua on my desk, plopped a bit of alcohol over it and mixed lightly (don't over mix-you want that tonal watercolour look, not a solid colour!) swiped the vellum die cut over the ink and let it dry. Then I put a little more aqua down and swiped the bottom of the jar through that. Let it dry and covered it with a very light coat of Glossy Accents to adhere it and add a bit of sheen.

Hope you like it!
And remember there is still chance to play along with the shops colour challenge here :-)
